To be fair to Miah . He sees this thread for what it is , a piss take and doesn’t take himself too seriously it seems. He’s a good addition to the forum . Especially for a fewer ?8 points

The gas lot are saying that Sunderland performance would hold its own against any championship team ?? They really don’t know the gap, Sunderland looked very poor & would take a beating by almost all Championship teams.5 points

I don't care that Rovers aren't there, but I think Pompey v Sunderland is the worst thing for football. Many City fans have had a great time watching this competition and I suspect/hope that most of them remember that rather than think '**** it, not our problem anymore'4 points

Because I honestly believe that the 'success' of the competition will soon be touted as a reason to bring in Premier league U23 teams into the 92.3 points

I think I agree with you. I certainly hope City are never in it again, but Pompey vs Sunderland is exactly what the sponsors would have wanted and it will be a big crowd at Wembley, completely undermining any boycotts made by other clubs during earlier rounds. The current format is, let's be honest, a slap in the face to the lower league clubs by making them play against u23 sides in 'competitive matches' especially with the rules that mean the League 1 and 2 sides can only make 4-5 changes maximum, so they aren't even allowed to field an u23 themselves without punishment.3 points

*** sharing a stadium with bike and dog racers may have worked many years ago at Eastville but that old place was much bigger than The Mem. Theres no way you'll be able to host horse racing at The Mem... Ha, Bristol Derby my arse!3 points

Not going to mock an attendance in this cup. I would boycott if we ever ended up back in it. Should never sold its soul, real shame.3 points

To be honest, I did enjoy the early years. Bolton was fantastic, that first trip to the old (proper) Wembley . Then the following defeat's against Mansfield and Stoke were ok, by the time Carlisle came around it had started to lose its interest. Walsall was just a day on the piss in Hoxton with mates I'd been going to football with for years, the win felt like a foregone conclusion and I honestly hope we never qualify to play in it again. That said, I think it could be a brilliant tournament again, for smaller teams (and I say that meaning no disrespect to anyone) to have the chance to play at our national stadium is something that should embraced by the EFL, and make it a cup worth winning again For me It might be a case of familiarity breeds contempt , and the current farce of shoehorning Prem kids is a joke , it needs a revamp if it is going to continue.2 points

There was a time, many moons ago, when you'd know Rovers starting 11 by name and sight. Nowadays I don't have a clue who any of this lot are, that's just how insignificant they've become2 points

Anyone know where I can get rid of 2,000 'BRFC Wembly 2019' scarves? Asking for a friend.2 points

Yes, the only downside is losing out on the extra income, which, as you know, would have come in useful, given our circumstances. I couldn't bring myself to actually hope for us to lose tonight, but I'm glad that we'll be playing the scheduled league fixture against Luton that weekend - avoiding relegation is the priority. I'm a boycotter, but, to be honest, at the end of the day money will talk. If the Premiership dangle a large enough carrot to get their B teams into the league, too many lower league clubs are in financial straights to be able to vote against it. The revival of the Bristol Derby could be closer than we think! ?2 points

There's plenty of owners and managers that can prove that is quite an easy thing to do. It's spending little and doing well that is the toughie!1 point

Que sera sera Whatever will be, will be They're going to Westerleigh. Que sera sera. What a pathetic bunch of losers. Last night showed the world what a dump of a ground they have, and a team of tramps led by a Dumpty of a manager. Wouldn't be surprised to see Comic Relief trying to raise money for the poor, "disadvantaged" fools. They're much more needy than all those other deserving causes around the world.1 point

You mean the best thing, surely. Good for the sponsors, good for Wembley stadium, good for all the pubs and food outlets/sellers around Wembley, good for football neutrals, good for nine tenths of Bristol...1 point

That is the worse thing about last night, Pompey & Sunderland is exactly what the sponsors wanted, neither team's fans really give a **** as they don't expect to be bothering with this competition in the very near future.1 point

Every sag I know has boycotted the competition thus far, but they all said they would go if da gas made it to Wembley - so making a mockery of all the previous boycotts...1 point

Yes. A boycott of this competition is the correct response since the attempts to wreck it came in.1 point

Does that saghead really think people will believe that a Sunderland fan, a fan of probably the biggest club outside the Premier League and bigger than a lot in the Premier League thinks Bristol Rovers should be top end championship because of their "huge fanbase", that has given me a good laugh on a Monday morning !!!!1 point

Hope they don't go up so they can go again ? Don't think Sunderland CAN get relegated, can they ?1 point
