  1. icegas First Team Posts: 695 Posting Level Next Level in 305 posts 11 hours ago via mobile Quote Post by icegas on 11 hours ago This afternoon I met up with my best mate who is a shithead for a drink along Glos rd. We popped to the Mem as I wanted to go to our shop to buy a shirt, but it was closed when we got there. Anyway we had a quick look around the Mem and he said while its a dated stadium it has such a unique character and feel about it. We both agreed that if we could build a Lansdown 2 tier like stand where the Blue stand is 7- 10k and a Atyeo sized stand where the south stand is then then we could keep the West stand and Blackthrone end as they are and have a great looking ground that could hold 20-24k. I know Glos Rd lefties/Rose are the problem,as is parking. But there is a huge area still at Mem for development if funding could be found. If planning was granted how much would that construction cost? £10-£15m. I hope its been looked at.

  3. We must remember that the £50m included demolition costs. These would not apply to Gas unless the tent pegs were embedded too deep into the ground.

  4. The younger OTIB members might also care to note that terraces are something many older OTIB members wish were still around when they bore you with tales of 'the good old days'

  7. It must have been quite a drink these lads went for!? As for the ‘stadium’ I can only imagine said City fan was doubled over, roaring with laughter, his eyes wet with tears of joy, shaking his head and repeatedly slapping his thigh, saying he’d never seen anything quite like it. This was then positively interpreted as reference to uniqueness of character and feel.

  8. Isn't it amazing how every 15er seems to know a City fan who is highly complimentary about some aspect of their club? It's like a younger brother, desperately seeking the approval of his older sibling. Bless.

  9. If I took out the seats from a Ford Escort and replaced it with seats from a Ferrari I’d still have a Ford Escort. Likewise their shithole will remain a shithole regardless of how they tart it up.

  12. I was the same with red. I have tried to get away from being so obsessed because it really is pretty stupid. I agonised over wearing a tie with a bit of red in it to the Rovers sponsors do and in the end decided to wear it thinking no one would notice anyway. We one of the main prizes so there were a few pics of me and Wael on social media and I got absolutely slated by mates for wearing it!

  13. I won’t even buy anything that remotely resembles the blue that the sags wear, some people might call that stupid,I call it having taste.?

  14. I’m so against blue (from a football perspective, Miah) that I can’t think of a single team, which wear blue, that I ever want to win be it Chelsea, Man City, Everton or, of course, you 15ers. I’m sure that I’m not alone! How stupid is that for a(n) (over)grown man?!

  20. I think I've found their two tier Lansdown stand concept, only due to budget constraints imagine this with no front, back or side panels.

  21. Certainly odd timing just before we are to play them in the league, and on a spinners wicket too !

  22. Lovely set up they've got - watched the match from the comfort of the air conditioned bar on a roasting hot day. Decent food too.

  26. Post praising the few again! In numbers? What does that mean? How many? Bristol Rovers fans praised for good turnout in big Dublin win Rovers fans turned out in numbers for the trip to Ireland

  28. Miah, you’re not comparing like with like. You should compare the price of your season tickets with those clubs of a similar stature. For example, you can get a season ticket at Bristol Manor Farm for £108 if purchased before 1 July. Better football and a better stadium for far less money

  29. Terraces? Bless. For younger OTIB members, terraces were (and apparently still are) a flight of wide, shallow steps providing standing room for spectators in a stadium or tented village.

  30. another new signing today on loan from Sheffield United (Tyler Smith - a striker). One of the richest clubs in England still not opening the wallet to any great effect, the only thing in Wael's wallet appears to be a Chelsea season ticket and mothballs

  31. Stop referring to Gloucestershire as 'we', it's confusing the hell out of me. This is clearly a Somerset forum, your views belong on Gaschat ?
