Today marks 50 years since we landed on the moon. To commemorate this I thought I’d share a fact. Rover’s record breaking signing of Andy Tilson is closer to the date of the moon landing then it is to the present day.7 points

Earlier this week, someone, in another part of the world said: “If you don’t like this country, you don’t have to stay. You can leave. Send them home”.3 points

As long as he calls it a day after this, he can't keep stopping massive punches with his face. He comes across as a lovely bloke and I hope that this defeat doesn't affect his mental health like the Whyte loss did , and that he gets out with his faculties intact.2 points

Wonder how long it will be before one of the fantasists on their "forum" posts that the Brummies he met all prefer their set up and their supporters to us ? I'll give it two hours2 points

Wow, I didn't realise that it's now got so bad financially that da Roverrzz are only part-time? Still fair play, losing only 2-0 to a full time side isn't a bad result.2 points

He took a shit load of punishment there mate, a lot of better fighters would have quit before then. But it was rubbish. Price is trash. All 873 attendees will demand their wedge back too.1 point

1591 faithful and true then for their 'glamour' friendly. Great supporters my arse! We pretty much average that away don't we? OTIB1 point

Here's a selection of clubs and where they restarted: Chester - 8th tier Newport - 9th tier The real Wimbledon :) - 9th tier Aldershot - 9th tier So they might end up in the North West Counties Football League I've always had a soft spot for Bolton since they were our opponents in my first City game (1977/78 4-1 city) and were the 1986 Freight Rover Trophy runners up (can't remember who won that one). Be sad to see them go, and what a slow painful death if it does happen.1 point

I thought players had the right to walk away if they haven't been paid for a certain period? Edit: thanks @Sleepy1968 I have mixed feelings about this whole situation. On the one hand I think the game needs significant clubs to fold to come to its senses. On the other, I suspect it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference and clubs would carry on in the same reckless way. Goaded on by fans demanding they spend money they don't have. Paraphrasing Gareth Southgate: love the game, hate the business.1 point

It's all a bit odd. If they aren't being paid you'd assume they could walk, so maybe they have been paid? A quick google found these links: https://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/footballers-not-paid-wages/ https://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/football-player-breaking-contracts/ but it's still not made thing clearer for me.1 point

Looking increasingly likely. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17783753.amp/?__twitter_impression=true Magennis and Otzuner handed in their notice, but not accepted by Administrators. How does that work? We all moan that footballers have it easy, but in situations like this, they appear to be stuck.1 point

Twerton is soon to be undergoing an almost complete rebuild redevelopment. It’s what most clubs, the size of Bath City & better are doing nowadays. Rovers hope to one day be able to keep pace with the likes of these illustrious neighbours, but until such time as that’s realistic - they can always hope to squat and/or steal.1 point

Apparently, due to holidays, they are short of programme sellers tomorrow for their big pre-season game against a 2nd string Birmingham; "Due to holidays, work etc there are very few sellers tomorrow. If you would like a programme or 50/50 and can't see any sellers outside the ground then you may wish to go to the SC sales point in the car park. If anyone would like to volunteer to help out just for tomorrow then they can ask for Phil at the above location. Thanks and apologies for any inconvenience." Rag Bag Rovers Hi Pikeys1 point

From an HITC article by Peter O'Rourke ... Bristol Rovers are reluctant to lose their star striker, but they could be forced to cash-in on Clarke-Harris for the right offer due to tight finances at the club. Clarke-Harris is understood to have a buy-out in his contract and Bristol Rovers are bracing themselves for offers for the former Oldham and Rotherham forward1 point

Both his wife and mother were deaf, hence his interest in speech and hearing - something I remember from my junior schooldays: I may be wrong - it was a long time ago - but I seem to recall that he refused to actually use the telephone. One thing that has always intrigued/amused me is that we often say 'I'll give him a call, or a 'bell': isn't it a lovely coincidence that the name of the telephone's inventor is so closely aligned with his actual invention? Alexander Graham Bell is not the only inventor to have his name incorporated in to everyday language: just think of Hoover and, of course, who could ever forget the famous English plumber, Thomas Crapper?1 point

To be fair, that’s a bit like saying that calling someone a bar-steward (you know what I mean) is actually an accusation of illegitimate parental status at the time of their birth. It’s usually not, and just implies that you think they’re a bit of an arse.1 point
