  1. Hi everyone. I'm a Hungarian fan (clearly obvious from my name I suppose ), thanks for letting me join the forum. I would like You to have a little insight on Ádám, not the usual stats, etc. I don't want to convince anyone if he's a good or bad football player, just give a little deeper insight on his characteristics, something You can't know about from articles and the usual introductions. Waited for the finalisation of the transfer with this just to be sure and it will be a long read. I'll start by being very honest: he's my absolute favourite player. And that's a very rare thi

  2. Truly today must be our 'finest hour'. I learn today that Weimann should not be on the pitch and Fammy is actually the problem in our team. Meanwhile signing a truly mega exciting player age 18 with Champions League experience from a major European club is questioned as worryingly too much money and a big gamble- then largely glossed over on our forum because it's just not enough or the right position . Un-####in believable !! ( Welcome Han-Noah - I will cheer you at every touch) Signing a goal keeper with the pedigree of Dan Bentley, Making our Chelsea loans of Kallas,

  5. All got overshadowed by the young lad from Arsenal, but at the end of it: - Kalas, DaSilva, Palmer all ours: - Bristol City signing players from some of the top European clubs (I know, who would have though it on a cold day at Chesterfield): - Also spent best part of £8m on a kid who looks like they might be quite decent. - Looked like we were going to get no striker, then wham, a half decent one at the last moment. Overall rating B+. A shame on the one we missed, but we got loads. Huge congrats to MA, LJ and SL. Must be knackered. Go and have a half of ci

  6. As regular posters will know, I am a big fan of Pack, but I’ve also written on here numerous times that if we are able to upgrade him then I am open to that. No one is irreplaceable but I always felt that Marlon was an integral part of our team - LJ has almost built the team around him, our style of play has revolved around the ball going through Pack, and we naturally played a mid-tempo game. Pack’s qualities were most evident when Reid played up front. His qualities are his vision and passing (no matter what people say, it’s true) and when he had an intelligent mover infront of him he was a

  8. Cheers Sherlock. Of course it has, it's a last minute transfer on deadline day! Just because it's a frantic and panicked deal, doesn't mean it's not a good one. LJ had two choices: 1. Take a 26 year old, formerly prolific, Championship striker that fit's our team perfectly on loan for the season 2. Do nothing I appluad LJ and MA for managing to get this done, if it happens. Unbelievable work at the death

  11. Hang on, people have been saying for at least two seasons that we had no leaders and Pack has been getting regular stick for his performances but the minute he goes he is the lost leader.

  13. I'd agree with that. I'm also going to stick my neck out and say: 1) Taylor Moore will take a while to settle and, whilst he will not be Webster's standard this season, we will ultimately be glad to have given him a chance rather than got someone in. 2) Afobe will get more goals than Nketiah this season. 3) We will be there or thereabouts the play-offs. Happy for this to be bumped and me mocked if need be come the end of the season. I'm quietly confident that won't happen on any of the three counts.

  14. So funny seeing people moaning about this... We literally were down to the wire and we've pulled out Benik Afobe. Are any of you seriously suggesting we'd be better off with nothing, which is where we were about 45 minutes ago? Looking at our incomings and lack of outgoings this window, brilliant work by the club. Yes it would have been nice to have Nketiah, but we've got a proven Championship goal scorer and some fantastic additions to the rest of the team with Pereria, Masssengo, Nagy, and Afobe, all in the past 5 days!

  21. Not sure why people are dismissing Afobe. He’s been there and done it and is a decent champ striker. Not our first choice, but a decent signing!

  24. Whether you rate Marlon or not, even if it is to push Reid our way, this is bad timing. Ideally you want him to help embed Nagy and Massengo over a period of time. If he does go, these guys could be lambs to the Championship slaughter. Having said that, too often we sign players and don’t play them. Perhaps LJ has indicated that these new signings jeopardise Pack’s position and he’s jumped. Never all as black and white as we think.

  25. It appears we’ve been turned down by Nketiah and whilst disappointing as the club clearly had him as their number one target. However, we appear to have a talented youngster of our own, who was attracting admiring glances from Chelsea. As a club we were prepared to loan an inexperienced player from a premier league club, similar to what we did with Tammy. Is the answer to our striker problem already at the club, is it not beneficial to play our own and give the chance to them, rather than an untried player of a similar age from a premier league club ?

  30. I reckon LJ asked MA to take Pack and Pato away from him. He just couldn't stop himself picking them and knew he needed help. It's the kind of intervention that's needed for any self-destructive addiction.

  31. AFOBE JOINS CITY ON SEASON-LONG LOAN City have added to their forward firepower with the loan signing of Benik Afobe from Stoke City. Afobe, pictured playing at Ashton Gate in 2018/19, arrives in BS3 on a season-long loan and the Robins do have the option to purchase the Dominican Republic of Congo international. "Dominican Republic of Congo international". Where is this African/Carribean hybrid country?

  33. Welcome aboard at BCFC, Benik Thanks for signing up just as we were beginning to think no one was coming at all All the best my friend, I'm really hoping you can show all the miserable lot on here that you can be a decent loan signing and this time next season a few people are eating their words. All the best!

  34. The criticism on here of our recruitment is I think totally unfair. We have to accept that we are not top of the pecking order in the transfer market. We have, (thanks to the way we are being run), moved up the rankings but there are certain big clubs and ex prem clubs who we will struggle to compete with. The likes of Fulham, WBA, Cardiff and Leeds are still able to muscle us out of the way on joint targets and we have to accept that, at least for now. Yesterday we had a very good signing that went almost unnoticed amongst the expectation and then disappointment. Today could go a similar

  35. Codswallop! If you spoke with a builder and agreed he would do some work for you, agreed the price and start date, then on the way to you he decides to go elsewhere and work. 1 you would be fuming 2 you would have real trouble finding another builder at short notice. Now tell me, who's fault is it? Yours or the builders? Or perhaps you would be happy to pay 2 builders, just in case one didn’t turn up!!!

  36. Wow. You go on holiday for a couple of days and WTf does the team look like? Marlon has been a good servant but Smith has always been better. And you’ve just gotta move players on if you’re going to progress. A bold move, but progression means moving out of your comfort zone. Marlon was our comfort zone. Good luck Marlon. I hope you’re a shining light in Cardiff’s second consecutive relegation season!

  44. I find it baffling the amount of people saying that because Reid has only done it once in the Championship we shouldn't sign him. When Tammy had a good season, everyone wanted him to stay. Imagine if we were offered Pukki or McBurnie? Reid has only had one season in the Championship as a striker, after some hard work from both him and LJ, and he was only 24 so unsurprisingly wasn't the finished article before that. People expect 20 goal a season strikers from 18-19-20 and that just isn't that common. And during that year with us, he was unplayable at times. He wasn't utilised correctly by

  45. Just got to get them all up to Speed. And that's what LJ has gone for imo...speed of mind, feet, ball and with engine. It's been too slow in build up recently. Think LJ wants to get far more energy in the team.

  46. This is a ridiculous move imo. We all know he has some limitations but Pack has been ever present for us for years now, and everything goes through him. Overall he’s a good player. To sell him now, to them of all teams, seems beyond reckless to me. If the new lads don’t settle I genuinely fear for us.

  47. Man we sign a player and he gets so much hate because he's not x or y. Afobe is a proven championship striker, he's been playing in a horrendous Stoke team (3 wins since Jones took over). If we can get him playing like he did at wolves then the goals will come. He's a good signing is he the 20 goal striker we all wanted? Time will tell.

  48. My god thank you for this post. I’m not old enough to remember ‘82(I was 1), but I do remember us signing Marcus Stewart, michael bridges and gavin smith and thinking we have made it and that was the turning point. Now we are signing wonderkids from Benfica and Monaco. Do I fear us going down in one of the toughest leagues in Europe? No. Do I remember as a kid rovers beating us and as the only kid at downend school a city fan, getting roasted for weeks? Yes. Who cares. I love it. I live in London now, I probably can’t get a ticket now as I used to, I miss the east end and away trip to gillingh
