  1. Takes a lot to come back to your parent club that deemed you surplus to requirements 5 months ago and hit the ground running, inspiring us to victory in recent performances. Has been criticized on here, sometimes rightly, however think we should appreciate how professional the bloke has been. I for one would love to see him continue his form for the rest of the season and fire us to the play offs. Keep it up Pato!

  5. Because he is so inconsistent. He didn't do much at the start of the season, LJ loaned him out. He's come back, LJ has utilised him and it's worked. No need to look at it negatively, try looking at it positively.

  6. Best performance I've seen from him. Many very good performances tonight as well, but he is my motm followed by Korey.

  8. If we're going to throw our collective toys out the pram when we're on a bad run of form, it's only fair that we praise when we're playing well. So I'll just leave this here...

  9. Come on pal. Yes, we’ve all told crass jokes and there’s no problem with that. I actually immediately thought of the Anne Frank link and thought there’d easily be a joke in there. But I thought, mmmmm...maybe not yesterday, of all days. Nothing to do with humour bypass, but more to do with respecting 6 million dead people.

  10. Probably our most underrated player. Best midfielder since Gary Shelton. Quite a few fans wanted him sold but hopefully they now realise how good he is. So much time on the ball. Class.

  14. I liked Tony Fitzpatrick - thought he was a fine player. A lot of people probably don’t know that his little lad became ill when he was with us and passed away at the age of six. He also lost his brother at the age of 32 and his mum died young. The pressures of all that led to his marriage breaking up too....fans never truly know what is going on in a person’s life - it must be hard to have a job in the public spotlight and be roundly criticised for your performances when you are going through very difficult times off the pitch...

  15. Well I was waiting for someone else to make this thread. But it's ok I'll do it! He is absolutely key for us at the moment. All his experience, his aggression, his intelligence and his leadership skills. He was never going to lose those. But he is looking sharper game by game. I haven't been 100% sure about whether we should keep him on. But how could we not if he keeps playing like tonight? He is so much better on the ball than he gets credit for. Some very intelligent passes tonight. And is so comfortable in tight spaces under pressure. Very strong, great balance and will not

  25. I wouldn't put yourself through it mate. We've needed a "9" for a couple of seasons now, and couldn't get one over the line in the summer, chances were always going to be slim in January. Just remember the last 2 we have managed to secure on permanent deals are Taylor and Eisa. That should lower your expectations.

  26. Well it depends how you view it. You can take an educated guess that it's likely we've enquired for all of Wells, Taylor and Toney. You only have to look at who's reporting it to see that. Add that to the small amount of posters that hear bits and pieces - then you can see which rumours are reliable. Social media is a bit complicated because it's very easy to get duped - we see it time and time again on here with people falling for fake accounts or fake rumours. If you have a bit of common sense and are internet savvy then it's easy to tell. If you choose to totally disregard r

  27. If financially feasible, that would be the sensible move. Use the summer for signings like Toney who'd probably need bedding in, use January to sign appropriate players for your league situation. If you're gunning for the top 6, that's established players at the level who can hit the ground running and add to the first 11. Same way that if you're in danger of the bottom 6, that's often seasoned pros with a bit of steel, experience and discipline. Wells is exactly the signing we haven't made every time we've needed to under Johnson in January - either in the top 6 or just outside. In

  29. No idea who she is, or why she is sought out as a spokeswoman to make such absurd comments. Or furthermore why anybody would be interested in her views or take the slightest bit of notice of them. Oh, I see this was on the BBC - that explains it then.

  30. Just finished reading a great book, title as per thread title, by Martin Powell and Clive Burlton. Harry's name has of course been synonymous with the club for many years. My first memories of the stand that bears his name are from running up and down the steps in the early eighties when I had a brief trial with the club under Gerry Sharpe, and going into the school boy enclosure for 50p. As a young man I preferred to watch games from the East End, Open End or the Williams enclosure, but have had a season ticket in the Dolman for the last 23 years. I must admit until I read th

  37. I've heard before that Brownhill's parents are very involved in his career, obviously in addition to his agent. I think that's a good thing really for him, they'll look for the best outcome for their son that's not always financially driven in a way that an agent might.

  38. Why would Josh’s Mum & Dad book into a hotel with him? a) he’s 24 years old, not 10! b) aren’t they from around that kind of area, so if they wanted to see their little soldier they could just stay at home & come & visit him?

  43. Hardly anyone has moved anywhere & more or less everyone wants a striker! It’s nothing to do with our scouts, LJ, MA, JL or SL! There just aren’t the players around so unless we’re willing to pay over the top with fee’s & personal terms, it’s unlikely we’ll get anyone & to be honest I’m fine with that. I don’t think we should be paying over the odds for anyone.

  44. Mate, I know you're just fishing here, but seriously, stop being such a ****. As already established on the thread earlier, there are plenty of female football (and cricket) fans in most work places who can talk a better game than many men.

  47. Okay, I'll revise my original comment... I've never understood why anybody who lives nearby and has parking already arranged close to the ground, and doesn't have any kids or other commitments, would choose to watch a game on TV that they had tickets to attend, regardless of the weather. The live football experience is so superior to watching on TV (yes, even with our current home performances!). Better?

  49. That’s made me really angry. Just had a massive rant in the office with a male colleague who hates football. I’m fed up of people making stupid assumptions and patronising women. I’m not embarrassed by her comments because I don’t acknowledge other women’s comments because I’m female too. She’s just a stupid idiot. I don’t like X factor, celebrity culture, Love Island, plus I don’t have kids - shall we ban talk about that too?!
