  1. Good god. They really are thick as **** Midsomer Murderer Club Legend 44 minutes ago Quote No point in worrying what that lot are doing. We need to concentrate on us - the sh** will soon be the poor relation in this infrastructure redevelopment. The Bears are doing well, basketball is on the up too. All the rest is hotels, houses and a multi use indoor arena - wouldn’t be surprised If SL sold the sh**, after all, they are costing him a fortune and holding him back

  4. Completely silly if people rule Wilder out. I think the smart money is probably Wilder by KO. Surely that's the most likely outcome. Fury has to be switched on for 2160 seconds. Really really hope he pulls it off though. He's more than capable, clearly the better boxer, now spent a year doing boxing training rather than slimming down. I don't know how much realistically Wilder can improve whereas in that time Fury has got himself completely match fit. Should be intriguing.

  5. Astounding camera work it has to be said - a picture of the mem without a tent in sight. Must have taken some doing that.

  10. Yep, I heard their camp has been incredibly secretive. I listened to Bunce and Costello's podcast - he's left no stone unturned with the new training setup, new nutritionist, masseuse, no diet cokes, limited media. There's the sort of 1% marginal gains that could make the difference but Wilder is so devastating. I think the most likely outcome is Fury winning comfortably for 8 rounds plus and then getting caught. I wouldn't rule out a flash KO early in the fight too. Wilder has a bit of form for this. I would never write off Fury though, if anyone can pull it out the bag it's him. Backing him all the way, would be amazing if he wins. Just hope they try and make the AJ fight eventually.

  11. It is all they have to cling on to. They have wet dreams just thinking about it. If they stop believing it will happen one day they will begin to see the reality of their own situation and their tiny brains won`t be able to deal with it.

  12. From Collins dictionary...... ADJECTIVE You describe something as fantastic or fantastical when it seems strange and wonderful or unlikely. They do have a fantastic fanbase then it's official

  13. They've got a fantastic fan base ? Where the **** are they all then ? Waiting for another Wembley appearance ? Oh, hang on, they only had 25k for their last one so it can't be that. They are 11th in the third division for average attendance - fantastic fan base my arse.

  14. Maybe? I am sure they have many other things on their minds right now. Hell of a family resemblance there by the way. Condolences to the family.

  15. @bert tann keeps dropping hints that there is something brewing, but his posts are so cryptic and obscure I have become convinced he is a question setter on "Only Connect", and that he can introduce me to the rather fruity Victoria Coren-Mitchell .

  16. Looking forward to Fury vs Wilder. I'm a huge Fury fan, he's easily my favourite top HW so I'd love to him win. Unfortunately I think Wilder will win by KO. Then again, Fury really raises or lowers his game to his opponent - much like Billy Joe Saunders - so it's foolish to write him off. I just think Wilder is dangerous for the entire fight and I think Fury will get caught with something. Really really hope I'm wrong and Fury wins.

  17. Quelle surprise. A Villa fan in denial. Truth is pal, you were very very close to breaching the regs. It was widely acknowledged by the whole football world. You may have just gotten away with it. Just. Suck it up, be grateful that you might’ve just sneaked under, but don’t come here acting high and ******* mighty and that you weren’t pushing the line. Cuz you were. Very close.

  18. Found an alternative ground guide earlier and had to share this Barnsley fans review of the swamp. 'Gary Bennett, 4th May 2019 - Bristol Rovers v Barnsley Travel: Having been to Bristol City a few times the route was routine till we got to Bristol. But we followed the satnav and found off street parking easily enough. Refreshments: We found a local pub on Gloucester Road and kept ourselves to ourselves as the pub was a bit lively with Rovers supporters. Impressions: I have to be honest and say the ground is barely Football League standard and light years away from Ashton Gate. The away facilities are terrible. What's with all the tents? Atmosphere: We went one up then went down to ten men and they got a late winner but it didn't really matter as we were back in the Championship anyway. Exit: We hung around in the same pub and kept quiet! Then an easy drive home. Enjoy: Bristol is a great city especially around the centre and we wish we could have stayed the weekend as we have done before. But the Rovers ground is abysmal and the area around it doesn't have too much to offer. Luckily we won't be back next season (or any time soon hopefully).' https://www.tothe92.co.uk/groundguide/bristolrovers.html

  20. The key thing is that our owner, realising the future impact of ffp decided that staying within the financial rules needed to be the overriding part of the club's future strategy, that the club could no longer rely on his wealth to cover unlimited losses and that the club therefore needed to become sustainable within it's own means . Given that he made his fortune within the highly regulated ( including massive penalties for rule breaches) financial services industry, that was perhaps understandable. It does not mean that he was not ambitious and did not want the club to challenge for promotion, but understood that the plan for sustainability might impact on this happening in the short term - an issue that many City fans have failed to grasp, understand and/or accept ( although many will point to other factors impacting this that are and nothing to do with ffp! ) For many other clubs, it appears that adherence to the financial rules has been a secondary consideration to being as competitive as possible on the pitch and Mel Morris alluded to this when he spoke following the "sale" of Pride Park and the issues it raised. He also spoke of Derby's future plans for sustainability as the way forward, as though it was a road to Emmaus moment of inspiration rather than something forced upon them when no other options were left once their promotion bid failed, yet again. Forced to cut their cloth accordingly, it is interesting to see that Derby's season has only got going with the addition of £100,000 per week Wayne Rooney, which if accounted for as a player, and without sponsorship, would risk their finances breaking ffp but this time without the safety net of a stadium sale. It is clubs' unrelenting quest for promotion to the "promised land" , at all costs, which has led to the escalation in players' wages to unmanageable levels. The level of losses in the championship are unsustainable in the long term and potentially jeopardise almost any club's future if unchecked. It is not about creating a level playing field, but ensuring sensible and realistic financial control to protect clubs from themselves ( or more accurately from their owners' ambitions). As far as I am aware nowhere in the rules does it say that leeway will be give for clubs finding it hard to bring their finances in line while remaining competitive or maintaining a promotion challenge. Accordingly, while some clubs have taken, and are taking, the steps necessary to conform why should their be leniency extended to clubs that have chosen to do what they are comfortable with, even when it is not enough? As far as I can see a fire sale will only result when a club has left it too late to sell a particular player, and is it any different than a club taking the risk that holding on to player in the last year of his contract, in the hope that he might make the difference in the promotion race, could result in him leaving for nothing at the end of the season if the promotion bid fails - the ultimate "fire sale"?
