  1. SIALE PIUTAU PENS ONE YEAR EXTENSION WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH 2020 Siale Piutau has signed a one-year contract extension at Bristol Bears, the club is delighted to announce. The former Tongan international captain, who joined Bristol in 2017, has made 47 appearances for the club. The 34-year-old centre, one of Tonga’s greatest ever players, announced his retirement from international rugby following the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Director of Rugby Pat Lam said: “Siale is a key part of our group. He’s one of the big drivers of our culture and is well respected and valued by all the players and staff. “It’s not just his personal performances, it’s the leadership role he plays and the clarity he brings to everybody on and off the field. “We have excellent young players that are growing and learning what being a professional rugby player is from players like Siale, so to keep him for another season is massive for the Bears.” Piutau added: “I’m delighted to be staying at Bristol. It’s a city that me and my family have a close affinity to, and we are really enjoying our time here and the environment that Pat and the coaches have created. “I’m hugely excited about the direction and journey this club is on and delighted to continue to be a part of that, alongside my brother.”

  2. The general mortality rate in the UK is 4.4 in 1000, or to put it another way a little under 1 in 200 people always die. Coronavirus has had virtually zero impact on the normal mortality rate in China - there are literally dozens of illnesses that kill way more people every day, including as has been mentioned before, ordinary flu. The whole thing has been blown massively out of proportion and the suggestion that sporting events should be cancelled is ridiculous. If that were true we should cancel everything forever, because of all the other illnesses out there that people might catch.

  3. Yes they are. One off matches. Not a whole season. Unless I’ve missed something. You can keep quoting the word ridiculous if you want but, as I’ve said, time will tell. Wait and see. If it gets so bad that a whole Football season affected we will have much more important things to worry about than a few words on a forum.

  4. What an idiotic statement. If you care for anyone who is vulnerable, you wouldn't see them as acceptable collateral in a Darwinian storyline. If my son were to contract it, it would be a huge risk to his life and the same many other people I know. If the benchmark for addressing a problem is whether humanity will survive it, then why are we wasting money and effort on looking after the elderly? Maybe we should just get rid and spend the money on something else.
