  1. A bit like being in the away end when Wycombe relegated them to the basement for the first time..! It took Wycombe fans a while to realise why half the away end were so enthusiastic - and they they realised that a good percentage in there were city fans and a sprinkling of Swindon fans, celebrating Rovers demise. I can only imagine how magnified that would have been as they crashed out of the entire football league..! I’d have been in there again for it, had my new born son not been born a couple of days before and still not released from hospital. I left from being with him at about 4:15. Turned on the radio and heard it all unraveling on there, before an impromptu party round my mates hose later that evening! My newborn son did get in on the spirit of the day though...!

  3. TBF a large proportion of the population as well as those companies which seemed ‘healthy’ are much in the same position regards cash flow and reserves. I’m including me and my employer in that, it’s certainly no judgment.

  4. At the end of day if a club cannot go 3 months in contingent mode, it is a pretty sad indictment of their planning. It shows how close to the wire they are running, how much they are gambling. That applies to pretty much every club, big or small. The CJRS has been poorly introduced. The concept of retaining employees is good, but the rules are open to abuse. And businesses driven by money, will exploit it. They are exploiting it, and not just in football.

  12. Yes, was mainly referring to top two tiers in football. Sorry, I wasn’t clear, meant with tv revenues they shouldn’t gamble it all. Non-football business is a totally different kettle of fish I accept. I wish the media wouldn’t band around the 20%....it is only an applicable percentage to those on less than £2500pm....which does cover a large proportion of employees, but not all.

  14. Read that earlier. Could be a step towards moving back to normality. Just hope the general public don't decide that the bank holiday that is around the corner means holiday time and the government opt to enforce even more stringent measures on travel, social distancing and all that Jazz and that ends up putting a spanner in the works. Is it wrong to hope that it rains all weekend?

  16. They are eligible, its on the govt website, however Delaware telling them they're ineligible seemingly because they don't wan to use the scheme. Presumably its a case of Derby don't need the work atm with no cooking etc so they've got no work orders coming in so have no need to provide work to the guy. Still no reason they couldn't use the scheme anyway so the guy at least gets some money.

  17. Seen nothing to indicate BCFC non-playing staff have been furloughed? AG staff have been but they're a separate company that is based on hospitality/match day concessions etc which there is none of atm so impossible for them, many hospitality companies will be in exactly the same position.

  18. This was a land grab right from the get go, they expected a nice bonus from Sainbury's, once that evaporated it was IMO about getting out with as much face saving as possible, alas no one wants to buy a decrepit old stadium with a team of cloggers thats haemoraging money like it's going out of fashion. Now they have a ready made excuse as to why the club is going bust, after all they have probably used up the excuses of the council not providing land, turning down none existent planning applications, it's all Lansdown's fault and so on.

  19. Be carful though. You never know who might end up seeing your browsing history. Can you imagine how humiliated & ashamed Gary Glitter would have been if people had found out he’d been logging onto the Rovers forum...?!

  22. And yet you still find a snide, critical remark. “they put it in in the first place”. The initial agreement had a “contribution” to fixed costs. They’ve now removed all costs. An analogy might be that you rent a house. You pay the landlord £1,000 per month. You are then responsible for the gas, electric, water, Sky tv, council tax etc. They were giving it rent free but were asking for some of the running costs to be covered. Just like you’d be expected to pay the running costs of a house you rented. Stop being so critical. This is a positive thing. Why try to poke around at it and find something sinister.

  23. I've been a massive critic of Man City and rightly so in terms of FFP. their owners are not a fantastic regime either but credit where it is due here! Didn't know either that Abu Dhabi ran the ExCeL centre...no charges- again credit to them!

  25. Makes some really interesting points, whilst I agree footballers are vastly overpaid, clubs have a responsibility to run their business / clubs prudently. I do agree they shouldn’t be picked on by MP’s to give to the NHS or other charities, it should be an individual’s choice. Why would footballers be picked out, why not TV stars, movie stars and singers. There is a lot of wealth in this country and whilst footballers are a percentage of it , they’re not the only ones earning excessive money. The Liverpool situation is disgusting a club with their wealth , similar to Spurs should NOT be asking for government assistance - the government should be telling these clubs to **** off unless they agree to put ALL staff (including players) on the same scheme. If you can afford to pay £100k plus a week to an individual, you can pay the non playing staff. You can bet Liverpool & Spurs will both spend £50 million at least in the next 12 months on new players - yet they can’t afford to pay their non playing staff. Tell them they’ve failed FFP and can’t play champions league football and get a 3 year transfer ban , they’ll soon pay their staff in full I see Kyle Walker has issued an apology for having escorts at his house , for him and his mates. When will these ******* selfish ******* join the real world. I can’t wait until the Euros next year when every newspaper is calling them hereos again. This has really made me fall out of love with our game, because of greed. Some want us to join the party and get promoted , not me

  30. Strange, I couldn’t care less if it’s finished or not. I think a football season is all about momentum, hopefully leading to the excitement of promotion or play-offs. Even if you’re in a relegation fight, the ups and downs leading to staying up are exciting. This season has, for me anyway, lost all momentum. It’s like it’s never happened.

  31. What annoys me is how everything is driven by money. Football isn’t important, it’s just a game, yet somehow we’ve let money and greed consume it. The truth is it really wouldn’t matter if we just stopped this season and started again in August/September. It really doesn’t matter. When you pose arguments for why we should finish it, the truth is they always boil down to money. Sad and depressing .

  32. ...and this is why, as I mentioned a couple of pages ago, I have little sympathy with their situation (not that I think that they’re that close to the edge). I appreciate that not EVERY Gashead wants us to go out of business and fold but it does seem that the majority would love nothing more than for City to disappear for good. So to every Gashead who has called us ‘82ers’, every Gashead who has bored other clubs fans about our financial troubles 40 years ago, every Gashead who has said how they can’t wait for SL to go and leave us in the shit..... **** YOU!
