  1. Well at least you can sleep easy knowing that you have helped to feed a poor unfortunate soul for another few days. The alternative is that you've just bought yourself a place on their board ?

  2. Apparently, the Magic Gnome cast a wicked spell on OTIB and it turns out that for every page of this thread, they would sell a season ticket ... so as we rapidly approach Page 1300, their CEO can brag about their massive popularity!

  4. Probably had a watertight case on them, that folded quicker than a bar of dairy milk chocolate that had been left on a car dashboard on a summers day, the moment he walked past Sainsbury's.

  5. Probably because you spoke to him about the dog bothering and the lad who played boob cricket before asking him for a 50p trade. Confused by the situation, rather than selling you some music, and with his mind being on other things, he immediately offered you two 'seedy cases'. God that was convoluted.

  6. Well guess who sold me two CDs in my village jumble sale recently, which turned out just to be empty cases with no music? Step forward Gas CEO Martyn Starnes. I guess the 50p I was stiffed over them pales into insignificance compared to the indignities the 15ers faithful have put up with.

  7. Remote Luxury - The Church (I think it's an EP and not a song title, hope I'm not cheating) great band though

  8. It`s from @Red-Robbo. They haven`t had such an injection of cash since I don`t know when. Is it any coincidence that the plans got announced a few days after said village jumble sale? I don`t think so.

  9. Covid-19 rules. You don't pick up and examine potential purchases these days. I'd met Starnes once before but he's grown a beard during lockdown so I didn't recognise him on this occasion. Had I realised the stall was being run by the alleged purveyor of out-of-date crisps and phoney Fanta I'd have naturally been wary.

  10. Haha, yes that’s right. Our ‘plastic’ stadium with 130 years of history attached to it.

  12. That guy was on Bristol.Live the other day bragging that the Gas had sold 1300 Season Tickets for next season. Meanwhile we’ve sold over 12000. Apparently they’re far more loyal than us though, I know this because they bang on about it at every opportunity. Mind the gap.

  13. Exactly and he's not anywhere near the commercial draw. Strictly speaking he deserves a shot, but broadcasters would much rather put on AJ vs Fury. I think the majority of the public would rather watch that by far too. AJ and Fury are household names, Whyte hasn't got that profile. The AJ vs Fury fight has to happen in the UK though. The British public need a lift after this year, would be a travesty if it doesn't happen at Wembley. Would be such a shame if it happens in Saudi Arabia or somewhere.

  14. Hi mate, the only book I've read about the old bear-knuckle days was Tom Spring - Bareknuckle Champion of All England who was a Hereford fighter and a pupil of Thomas Cribb. It's worth a read if you want to learn about fighting in those days. Cribb is the big name in terms of Bristolian champions, but I don't know if he has a biography. You should be able to find books about the history of bare knuckle fighting in general. Looks like Bare Fists is on Amazon. But more detail on Bristol fighters, I'm not sure. Let us know what you find out though.

  15. He was useless but it has to be tempered a bit by the later revelations about his mental health at the time. I often wonder if the club knew he had problems when we signed him.

  16. When he came the score was 0-0 When he left it was 20-12 no one suspected a thing....

  18. I’ll just leave this here , from the BBC; ’ It's not been an easy road back for Mike 'Boats' Boateng, the twice-jailed former Bristol Rovers defender who now helps keep England's future talent on track. Mike served 16 months in prison for an attempted match-fixing fraud in 2013 before receiving a lifetime ban from football.‘

  19. I don’t know if the Danish artist Agnès Obel is well known in the UK but her music extraordinarily beautiful . Great for chilling out at home which just by coincidence... Here is a comment lifted from YouTube which sums it up . ’ Marzzy107 Every time I listen to Agnes I get goosebumps and feel like my souls being transported to some mysterious, beautiful dimension. Her music is a blessing to this Earth and I’m so thankful that I discovered her! ‘
