  3. Great to have him back, let down badly but the manager sticking him on the left....absolutely shocking. The stat from sky sports was damning....Afobe didn't have a single touch in the opposition box.....tactical masterclass LJ. I hope we sign this guy up aslong as he is fit.

  4. Why do people have to be called a name. 'Happy clappers.' I personally was never clapping when we lost and played awful football. Or was happy in any way, whatever a 'happy clapper' means. But you can't just sack managers every time things don't look good. So that was a part of my opinion in the past that we should keep him, but then there was a period when I thought he should go too in our record breaking run. I think some people are worried it will be worse without him. Which I guess it could be, although that is hard to imagine right now!

  5. I’ve on the whole backed, as I wanted him to do well and for us and succeed where Gary J didn’t. I wanted us to do the right thing and not change managers every 18 months. But now I am bored. Bored of always being the second best to just about every club in the Championship. There can’t be many clubs who fear us over the past couple of seasons. Football is dull, passionless and pretty much pointless. I can’t begin to predict or understand team selections or tactics. Something has to change. I think I strangely would be upset if Lee went. Basically I think he is a good guy but we sh

  6. What a great post, both your perception/revisitation of how LJ hits upon a winning formula, and your post-lockdown change of heart really sums up my feelings too. Despite the wretched form since December (bar the 4 wins in a row) LJ had plenty of goodwill in the bank for me given the level and variety of winning away over the past 18 months (believe it or not we're still 4th in the away league table), so I didn't come out of the break with any particular desire for change, but these two matches have been my Emperors New Clothes moment too. We've been down the "streaky Lee" road man

  7. Signs 52 players now says we need another type of player. Says Walsh and Morrell can do it after loaning them out. Throws wells under the bus for no reason. Just consistently Blames the players. 21 players and 4 formations used in 2 games. I don’t even think he knows what he wants anymore honestly.

  9. These 2 TV games with the drinks breaks have perfectly exposed Johnson's utter incompetence. You see Mowbray and Monk with most of the players gathered round their coach who is err, coaching, talking to the players, presumably giving instructions and motivating. Watch Johnson. Nothing. Except the second half break today which he spent the entire time arguing with the 4th official. Johnson spends most of most games arguing with the 4th official, so not so much of a surprise, but really, apart from picking the team and substitutions like some sort of xBox geek, it's hard to s

  11. The funny thing is, when managers like Pep, Mou and Zidane get to to the end of their careers, they'll reel off the trophies they've won, but they'll still never won a promotion, or successfully battled relegation, or managed a giant-killing. It's funny that these elite-only managers can be hailed as the greats but never have to deal with these challenges.

  13. He's making the most bizarre decisions I've seen in all his time here. Did I overrate him? Yes I think I did. He tries so many different things, one thing is bound to eventually work. So that 17/18 442 with the 2 false 9s was something he tried because he kind of had to. Give him millions to have a back up for Fam and it would not have happened as he would probably not have ever tried it. Around about Ipswich away last season he had tried different things that were not working. Many of us calling for a more solid 4141 type formation for a long time. He goes to that in

  15. Sometimes you just want the best thing for the club. At this point the best thing isn’t necessarily wins, it’s for us to be shot of LJ. I love Bristol City, but if it’s for long term improvement of our club, I’d gladly see Forest put 8 past us as much as it pains me to say. LJ is like a loyal family dog. But we need to be humane and put Fido down. He needs his Tinnion moment.

  16. Who really wants us to sneak a fortuitous win or two between now and the end of the season? Call me a non-fan, call me wrong, call me anything you want. But I only think it will prolong the agony. LJ's time here is up. It is obvious that he has ran around in circles in recent months. He needs to go, Forest need to beat us properly. Sorry, said it.

  17. Boro and Swansea's Captain's with great leadership qualities, read Bruce Rioch's comments about Mowbray. Johnson was in my opinion a poor player (extremely fortunate to play over 170 times for our club) and certainly displayed no leadership skills. No track record as a manager, a dreadful appointment.

  18. A proper manager would be ashamed of his team producing that garbage football after four and a half days in the job let alone four and a half years. Dreadful football, signings at complete random, tombola team selections, no style of play, bullshit interviews, embarrassing behaviour on the touch line. Given unlimited patience and millions and millions of pounds worth of players to a bloke who hasn’t got a clue. He is a complete fraud. Johnson out.

  19. He did a good job when he came in, and I'll always be grateful to him for establishing us back in this division. I defended him when he took us on the record losing run but what we're seeing now is abject. How, after 4 years in charge, how can he put out the team he did last week, lose, then make 7 changes, then play 3 or 4 formations in one game - including at times playing a striker at CM? It's not even that he doesn't know his best XI...he doesn't even know the formation he wants to use. We've lost to two utterly average teams in Blackburn and Sheff Wed, and ultimately it is because t

  21. Sorry, but you’re wrong if you think Steve Lansdown doesn’t want success. He has gambled an awful lot of money on trying to see us in the Premier League. It is insulting to the man to suggest that he has not been trying to achieve that aim. It may not be working at the moment, and it may be terminal, but I understand what the Johnson project was all about, and I think I understand why Steve has stood by Lee for so long, given our recent history. Steve Lansdown has done more for this club than anyone since Harry Dolman, so please don’t insult him. If he walked, you’d be very sorry.

  22. I feel it slightly different this time round. Doesn't feel like the need for abuse that many have given LJ before. It just feels like he has now proven his level, it's actually been OK for us that last few years (improving every year), but we now need someone who can take us to the next level, promotion. This may be the time Lansdown sees that as a business decision too.

  23. This was the game when he lost me. We won't do anything this season. we're unlikely to even finish above last season. Johnson has a full pack to play with of his own creation and he's chucking them about like a toddler trying to shuffle a deck of Happy Families. Ideal opportunity for someone to observe our strengths and weaknesses for the last games. It'll be no good waiting until September.

  27. I’ve been pretty much on the fence with LJ, never been anti Johnson mainly because he’s done a half decent job but putting Afobe on the left, I mean you’ve been injured pretty much all season, you work your balls off to get fit, get your first start and get chucked out there when you’re an out and out striker, I’d be savage. Taken us as far as he can, which to be fair, apart from his old mans play-off final has been some of our highest positions over the last 40 years. That said, time for someone else to have a bash, he’s reached his ceiling I feel.

  28. This, 100000000%. If LJ gets sacked Jamie MaCallister and Dean Holden better get the bloody bullet as well, all 3 are equal in this, which is why they share the media duties, not a chance should either be given a chance to step in.

  29. Sheff Wednesday fan on twitter said something along the lines of “Wells and Afobe together will murder us”. Not if they are played out of position with no real service they won’t....

  30. I cringe at how he has been treated today. Stuck on the left wing, out of position, arguably our best player and then gets hauled off. Why he’s not being played up top with Wells is beyond me - with either Pato or Palmer just behind. But LJ won’t play Palmer for some reason. Johnson’s man management and team selection in general is awful.

  31. Back?! What’s he spent, £60m+? Increased the wage bill to unimagineable levels. Hes like a boy in a sweet shop with SL’s cash! And even now still has no clue how to set up a team. Cheerio!!

  35. Chris Wilder in nearly the same timespan Lee Johnson has had in charge went from League two champions with Northampton League one champions with Sheffield United Promotion from Championship with Sheffield United and made them effectively challenge for European qualification in the Premier League. All the while Lee Johnson has taken nowhere with football getting worse year on year.

  36. According to the poll on here, about 98% of us are talking to the converted. Unfortunately we are talking in a soundproof room so those that matter will not hear (and if they did hear they are unlikely to take any notice). Accept it folks, Johnson is here for as long as he wants while the owner and the Board will back him. I've supported my beloved City for over 70 years, since about 1947 when I was taken to AG and we stood on the terracing at the Ashton Road end. Since then I have supported them through thick and thin as a season ticket holder for donkey's years, 51 Club etc. Recently I

  37. It’s not so much the stats for me. It’s what I’m seeing on the pitch and it’s got progressively worse. We’re 11 months into the season, his 5th season and he still doesn’t know his best team or formation. Making SEVEN changes today just shows the man is under pressure and realisation that he’s out of his depth.

  42. Always amazes me that SL will sanction £1m per year wages on a player, plus transfer fee yet continues to indulge a family friend in the most important position at the club.

  43. Not sure on your rationale to be honest! Makes sense to me to sack him now as it gives a new man a theoretical 7 games to figure out what he needs to do between the seasons with the squad. There is also that slim chance of a ‘bounce’ that might see us into the playoffs. Keeping him will inevitably lead to 3 excellent performances at the end of the season which though nowhere near enough to get us into the playoffs will be used to buy him another season or more to ultimately disappoint! I can take a defeat. These performances are just unbearable though.

  44. In the last 20 league games, starting with defeat at Milwall in December we've won 6, drawn 2, lost 12. Let's not forget the shambles in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury. That's a point per game average. That is relagation form over a full season. This is not a blip, this is half a season of poor form. Sorry LJ but it's time to go.
