  1. The Club will definitely make my mind up regarding staying as a season ticket holder in the future if I’m not offered a refund on next seasons card. i took the Robins TV option this season but can’t afford and won’t accept throwing away £700 odd pounds.

  2. They`ve done a really good job I reckon. There doesn`t seem to have been any disruption to traffic during this major construction project and all local businesses seem to have been able to function normally - it`s almost as if no work is being carried out so fair play to them. They must be just adding the finishing touches now ready for the grand unveiling in a month or two. #comingforus

  3. The season starts in under 7 weeks. The virus isn't going away. There won't be a vaccine that has been widely distributed in the near future. It's expected that there will be a second wave. It's anticipated that it may flare up again in the winter. I'd imagine therefore - indeed I'd expect - that every club in the country is working on contingency plans, including the not wholly unrealistic possibility that there are no fans at matches at all next season. For those thousands of us who paid up front, and on whose cash the club has been sitting for months, it wouldn't seem unreasonable to expect a tiny bit of communication...along the lines of the options being considered. The club might even ask the Supporters Club and Trust for input, assuming that they haven't done that already.

  4. Can't believe they think anything will change, compeition wise. They may get a basic training ground, and even less likely may get a basic 'stadium'. Both would be League One standard, at the very best. Brand 'new' facilities, and they're not even as good as half the teams in your division. There won't be a single player that improves due to it, or a single fan that will pick them over us. Nothing will change, other than them having more expenses and a bigger hole in their pockets.

  5. I think Sibley opens in T20 and cricinfo has his strike rate in the 120's and list A SR in the 70's, yes its white ball vs the red ball but he should be able to go at 3/4 an over SR at least

  6. Its a reduced 4 day competition split into 3 regions not sure how they're sorting out the winner with a supposed final at Lords, winner of each and best 2nd place perhaps into a semi final

  8. Yeah I remember. A mate of mine couldn't take the utter silence on the tube train and just said "why the hell aren't any of you celebrating? We'd be going ******* mental!". They sort of weakly smiled and went back to looking depressed about winning.

  9. Footballers will certainly get a reality check through this virus, but unfortunately it’ll likely be the less well paid players and smaller clubs in the lower leagues who bear the brunt of financial fall-out from all this. It’ll be interesting to see what happens if sponsors, advertisers and tv companies all want their money back, as that will directly hit the wealthiest in football, then the legal battles may become our main source of entertainment!

  10. Yes, they’re due to move into their new stadium next year. Wael said so. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/full-transcript-wael-al-qadis-3180637

  11. Sorry mate, I was being sarcastic. You are quite right, it’s all speculation but you would think they were laying bricks from their forum and the local press. As far as we know they haven’t even bought the land yet.

  12. They're all odd fans, as anyone who was on a train out of Wembley with them will know. Subdued and morose as though they'd lost. It's been widely commented on on here too.

  13. The virus is still out there and people need to realise that. Even though the South West has dodged the very worst of it so far (apologies if you have lost a loved one, as every death is very sad for the families and friends), there is still a trickle of positive cases every week in Bristol. We all need to do our bit to stop it spreading rapidly again, which does unfortunate mean simple measures such as proper hand hygiene, social distancing, and wear a mask indoors, especially if you can’t stay a certain distance away from each other. Even back as far as the Spanish flu epidemic a hundred years ago, it was high levels of compliance with the above that made the difference in terms of spread, and where was least affected and where was worst. The EFL should be underwriting the cost of testing for all clubs, especially as the smaller ones are more dependent on crowd attendance for income, which with the best will in the world, is not going to be anywhere near normal levels for next season. There will also be localised flare ups, as certain groups flout the rules, and that should lead to local measures being taken, as per Leicester, which could again affect clubs either directly by players becoming infected, or no spectators again. The real worry is what happens this winter, especially as all the other viruses and bacteria that usually cause problems every year, haven’t gone away either. Hopefully the rates of those might be a bit lower, if we follow the rules for how to prevent coronavirus spread, but as for the blusterer-in-chief saying it will “all be over” by Christmas, that also has echoes of just over a hundred years ago, as it’s likely to be just as incorrect.

  14. Just "freeze" any s/t sold for next year until the following year for those that can afford it. Refunds for others. Everyone next season is pay per game. No one loses their loyalty and the club dont bump up the prices for 21/22 season for those with freeze tickets. Does that make sense?

  15. I’m in the same position and feel the same way. I’m not going back to pubs yet - not because of any particular concern about Covid 19 but because with the current restrictions it wouldn’t be the same experience. I feel the same about the football: I’ve had more entertainment from the banter with those around me than the football in recent times and wouldn’t be interested in watching games effectively on my own. I suspect there will be plenty of us who, for various reasons, would take the option of giving up our SC for a full refund (or giving it up for the first 6-10 games, say, until restrictions ease, with a pro-rata refund). I'd prefer not to give up my right to renew for the following season if I took such an option, but would take that risk if i had to. I really don’t want the hassle of making a decision game by game (as it will be the same decision until we’re pretty much back to normal) and I suspect the Club couldn’t cope with the administration of that. I’m not sure what the legal position is: arguably, I’ve bought a ticket that entitles me to attend every league game, and as soon as it’s clear that won’t be possible the Club will have failed to satisfy its side of the contract and I should be entitled to a full refund. It was a bit different this season as I’d already had the option of attending 18/23 games so a full refund clearly wouldn’t have been appropriate. Of course the club might encourage me not to claim a refund by telling me I’m not a real supporter, that I’ll lose all my SC privileges, will be named and shamed on social media and will be tasered if I approach the ground. They were too easy on us last time.

  16. Been a season ticket holder for 10 years and bought next season’s before any sign of lockdown. Personally I love the whole match day experience more than the football on offer the last couple of years, if the normal match day experience is taken away with social distancing and no singing due to masks then I’m hoping the club offer refunds because I’m not interested in going. i honestly think more people think the same so this will help make room for those who want to attend. once Covid is under control and football is back to normal then I’ll be back but maybe not as a season ticket holder anymore because I think it was more habit than anything. i’ll probably pick and choose games and attend more away days.

  17. Having entered the Shed of the year competition I was crestfallen to discover it wasn't just for Bristol City fans, it was for people with actual Sheds. Never mind, I still came third.

  18. Ha ha. I knew you were enjoying it mate. I’ve tried to tempt him fella. He insists he’s not a runner (as the very expressive post above confirms), but we’ll get him there.

  19. Hmm. Hull, Wigan & Charlton down - three more clubs in League 1 that are a country mile ahead of the sad s*gs. So we now have Plymouth, Posh, Pompey, Sunderland, Doncaster United, Oxford, Swindon, Wigan, Hull, Charlton, Ipswich, MK Dons, Blackpool & Burton in the division - all streets ahead of the mob up Horfield. They`ll struggle to make the top half let alone the playoffs.
