  1. Would it bollocks ?, stop being such a bedwetter. Teams get promoted, teams get relegated. I appreciate that slightly bigger clubs like Burton and Yeovil have made it to the Championship in recent years but one lucky promotion for the Gas doesn’t wipe out all the embarrassing nonsense they’ve been responsible for over the last couple of decades.

  2. Not in the slightest. For the majority of their existence they have held onto our shirt tails and done their utmost to thwart our progression. Given any encouragement, they will still be a threat, as they are only one division or good/bad season away from us. There are many examples of them holding us back, along with mopping up a level of support which would be useful if it was attached to just the one club. As a result, they are still hanging on and, if I and others can highlight their petty ways and comical existence to future or floating support and in some way increase our support, then that's good enough reason for having this thread.

  3. Am I the only one who finds having over 2000 pages dedicated to that lot embarrassing? They are not, and haven't really been our rivals for years. The little childish comments and inuedos put us on a par with them to a certain degree

  4. They are the gift that just keeps on giving. Just when they think they have got one over on us someone runs up behind them and pulls their shorts down revealing a 2 inch fuse. Belters! They deserve all they get. Here’s to the next 2,000 pages. ?

  5. I love the diversity of the travel / mates.....I could imagine you with a 3 wheeler van with Red Dave Independent Trading on the side and “London, Paris, Wuhan, Oldham” underneath ???

  6. Agreed, especially when there were posts from the one who claimed extensive knowledge of what was going on in China and everything was apparently getting back to normal over there way back at the start of the year so there was basically nothing to worry about - what an idiot ...

  9. No it wouldn't, We don't play in a tent We actually have a training ground We actually have a academy We actually have a owner willing to back the manger and build inferstructure We don't inflate our attendance figures We don't think we are bigger then clubs like West ham We have a sense of humour

  10. I’m glad you brought up the fact that Rovers got beaten at home by Bath City in a competitive match because I think it’s funny. In their first season as a League club they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chesham in what was seen as a ‘Minnow killing’. It’s not our fault they give us so much to laugh about. Why don’t you have a go at them?

  11. Having now been through wiki, the last season where they played against teams from a lower division and didn’t suffer at least one defeat was 2011-12. They truly are rubbish.

  12. As the top 8 all qualify for the champions Cup, and especially with the seeding in place, a lot of teams outside of the top 5 still have stuff to play for tbf

  13. Technically we have - we lost to Spurs in the cup in about 1908 or something and they were a Southern League side - but I believe that`s it. We have come close a couple of times (thank the Lord for Tony Thorpe v Kingstonian!) We certainly don`t have their prowed history of giving non-league clubs a big day out at our expense.

  14. I think the post was regarding regularly losing to non-league teams in cup competitions- I don't think this club has ever lost to a non-league club in its entire history. We have a lot to shout about in this regard. Anyway **** 'em.

  15. If I’ve understood that post correctly, that’s £20m total amortisation still to show up in the accounts. £10m this season, £5m next (Lawrence and Evans’ contracts end), then £5m over the following two seasons (Bielik’s contract ends). As we both know, some of those players will sign extensions delaying the amortisation shown. Looking at the squad, I’d be surprised if first team wages were much higher than £20m. Total club wages will probably be £5m higher. How would changes to the amortisation and stadium rules affect solidarity payments from the PL? I thought I read a while back though our rules need to be aligned with there’s so ensure EFL clubs still get those payments. The best part of £5m for Championship clubs, £700k for L1 and £500k for L2.

  16. They really are so small time these days. My favourite one (The Post trotted it out this week) is the Red “half” of the City. Their gates are just over a third of ours now, signings like this (with the Clarke-Harris money) show just how small they now are. They’re a bottom eight third division club with no prospect of improving their position at all.

  17. Totally agree, I thought we were bigger than that! In the remote possibility that they got promoted and we are in the same division, all this would come back and bite us on the ass!

  18. Simon Jordan not happy about the EFL appeal! Mel's cheerleader Jim White adds little of interest, but it seems a bit of a pointless appeal. Loopholes need shutting- Amortisation one and the Fixed Asset one. Jim White is just a shill though. Maybe it's to establish the principle of rule changes- or maybe to get Derby some kind of reprimand/warning so that they can push for harder penalties moving forward if there is another overspend.

  19. I'd be surprised if anyone else here has the Oldham commute. Oldland Common, maybe. But Oldham, less so.

  20. I didn’t say your claim was ridiculous - you said it was ridiculous to consider cancelling the season way back at the start of this pandemic, then leagues one and two had their seasons cancelled. Anyway, apologies, there was no need to go over this old ground again - it’s been an horrendously tough year for so many, I guess I’m just totally fed up with it all now. Can’t even get any enthusiasm back for football at the moment .... roll on Christmas!!

  21. Yep same here, a lot of City fans in that Bath team too including both goalscorers. Chas first and Frankie who used to be on our books. Bet they had a good night after that!

  22. Expect better than that from you Dave. I live in Bristol, work in Oldham and do business with Chinese factories. Not exactly a unique set up is it! Most people in manufacturing work with Chinese factories!

  23. Agreed interesting reading the first few pages, a lot of people calling things exactly in line with what happened. Fair play to And It’s Smith, they keep going with the ‘it’s not serious’ line for about 3 weeks and dont let up, until they then start blaming the Tories for not taking it seriously!

  24. RedDave aka and it’s Smith now as you can see by the quoted posts having their old username

  27. It's hilarious, don't follow the party line to the letter, then you must be a Ted, which is an immediate ban. There are puppies with extreme separation anxiety issues more secure than them.

  28. The actual attendance at that game where they took 7k was 6776 which says it all really. https://www.11v11.com/matches/blackpool-v-bristol-rovers-05-may-1990-142972/ It obviously makes them feel good about their club and themselves but it is all rather sad.

  29. Probably like others I revisited this thread this morning having seen the BBC website headline on limiting social gatherings again. With a bit of time to spare prompted by your remark I decided to re-read the first 5-10 pages. An interesting history lesson for sure. To be fair while there are a few cynics (but quite a small number by OTIB standards!) I'm impressed by quite how many regular posters on here called this fairly accurately from day one. I must admit I had no idea what would happen back in February, but the sense I get from most who had posted back then is consistent with what we've since lived through. Credit where it's due rather than bashing posters.

  30. And probably less so the statements themselves but the sheer arrogance with which they were made. We all have 20/20 vision when looking with hindsight, but it does serve as a good warning to think twice before posting on a public forum. As I said on page four, the number of self-appointed experts at that point was pretty staggering!

  31. Knowing what we know now, its interesting reading the first couple of pages of this thread, from February.

  32. Rightly so. Can’t see how a defensive punch, after being attacked, is the same as 3 punches (2 to the head whilst the other player is lying defenceless on the floor) on top of telling the referee to **** off. Bizarre decision

  33. Because he was their replacement loose head prop and it wasn’t a head injury. So by forcing uncontested scrums they also have to lose a player. It’s slightly harsh but does mean that teams won’t have their replacement prop go down ‘injured’ if their scrum is getting blitzed (a la saints tonight)
