  1. Maybe other players at Chelsea were invited but have brain cells?

  2. Phil Wallace - Stevenage Owner on Covid (SSN 2:35pm today) Highlights: - clubs have invested time and effort working through “return to playing” guidelines with SAG to work out how they can get a safe quantity of fans back in - inconsistent approach re indoor venues - you can watch women’s team in same stadium as the men! - blanket ban on crowds in pro football is wrong, many / all clubs can satisfy a given number for their ground - testing is necessary (needs to come back), but for Stevenage it’s £3.5k per round. He suggests it should be twice weekly (£7k per week) to avoid picking up a symptomatic player on Monday who was sat on a coach with the whole team on Saturday. They can’t afford it - PFA claimed player welfare last season, so shouldn’t they contribute to the testing cost....they have tens of millions of retained earnings. Not saying they should pay for the lot though - commence test events to prove it can be done safely. - lots of Lg1/2 clubs are in real problems in November, not just gate income lost, but banqueting etc etc - potential transfer levy idea to put into a pot to help in bad times (now!) He genuinely looked choked talking about it.

  3. Ground no. 140 visited for me last night watching Thornbury Town v Newent in an entertaining 3-3 draw. £5 entry and £2.50 for a bottle of beer which you could drink pitchside. Like many other non-league clubs, Thornbury have experienced a slight rise in crowds and haven't gone below 125 so far this season, which is very good considering the level (step 10). Manor Farm v Cray Wanderers hopefully next Tuesday in an FA Cup game which should attract 300-400 spectators. I do wonder why those complaining about not being able to attend live sport and spend their time signing petitions don't just find out where their nearest non-league club is and go and support them for a season. The petition could have 5 million signatures, the government still aren't going to open stadiums this season. Go and support grassroots football.

  7. Yes, Villa at home this Sunday. They won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United tonight - that after a 0-6 stuffing by a rampant Everton side last weekend. If the Man City/Arsenal games don't define our season, then these upcoming ones will. It would be great to see that they are 'getting themselves together' now.

  12. Ahh, the old ‘City fans spitting all over everyone’ myth, they love that one. Dirty Slaghead hypocrites.

  13. Really? If anything we’re looking at further restrictions given mounting infection levels.

  14. No offence but why would I want to go and watch a non league side that I have no connection with? I support / watch Bristol City, have no interest in anyone else As for the last remark, I think things will change soon - as per test events at first. There is a lot of pressure mounting on the Government to rethink the decision about crowds in sport. I honestly believe changes will be sooner than later

  16. Would be nice to see this petition get some traction, I think that football clubs are being unfairly penalised compared to other industries and especially in the lower leagues it's important to see the fans return otherwise they are just not viable. I expect this to be dismissed by the government but hopefully I am wrong. Other countries are allowing fans back under certain conditions so for me continuing the ban seems very strict.

  22. It's what happens after they go through the turnstile that's the problem. If fans already are unable to sit down in the seats they've been allocated, keep safety exits clear, refrain from smoking inside stadia or wash their hands after visiting the bog, what chance do you think there is of them keeping to severe rules that would be required to keep punters safe? Folks have already shared on here advice as to control flows post Covid in stadia and that requires timed ingress & egress. We've plenty of punters who can't do 90 mins as is, so clearly they'll be happy to hang around for an hour post a drab match, won't they?

  24. I suggest if you review many of the comments made in the Holden/3Lions thread you'll note very sound reasons why fans won't be returning to grounds soon. Matters not what measures the club puts in place if the F'wits decide to ignore them, which given wholesale non-compliance with regulation pre Covid and Trumpesque pronouncements of late of what F'wits will and won't do, is guaranteed. "We do what we want, we do what we want...." Yep, so you do.

  26. Have you ever known a UK government high tech implementation go well? I am really struggling. As likely as the Johnson “Moonshot”, although if it really involved strapping him to a rocket, I would willingly throw in a few quid for it!
