  1. Last time we played them they kicked Scott Murray out of the game in the first leg of the JPT, he didn’t play again for us that season. I can live without ever playing them again, myself.

  2. I'd definitely agree with those who've said Semenyo would benefit from playing alongside Martin or Wells more than Diedhiou. Incidentally, I actually thought on Saturday we'd have been more dangerous as a team across the whole game if Martin had played the first 60 minutes and was replaced by Diedhiou for the final 30 than it was the other way around.

  3. Yeah I'm really not convinced the barrier should be collapsing in like that. I get that barriers are designed to withstand a certain level of impact but what's happened here is very similar to what happened to Francois Cevert decades ago - part of the barrier has failed and part of it has survived. Unfortunately in the case of Cevert it essentially meant he was cut in half - and a similar fate would have happened to Grosjean had it not been for the staggering strength of the halo. Another oddity is the fire itself which you very rarely see from an impact these days. Engine blow-outs were still common in the 90's and the 00's but since Berger at Imola back in the late 80's I can't think of an example of an F1 car catching fire from an impact alone. A really strange crash for different reasons, and at the very least, this settles the halo debate once and for all.

  5. No thanks. It`s a no win game for us. If we beat them we`re expected to, look at the money we`ve spent, blah blah blah and if they did scab a win against our U18s we`d never hear the last of it - they still bang on about the 1-0 fatty ******* Lambert game even now.

  6. The last time we played them?! How can you forget this one fella? I’m sure Scotty didn’t put on his boots for this game...? https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/report-bristol-city-2-1-bristol-rovers/

  7. The dizzy heights of a six nil win against Darlington. Who the hell is going to stop the mighty SAGs now? .... probably Chorley or Marine.

  8. Concerned is probably not the right word, but over the years I've seen many Derby games we couldn't lose. The worst (probably) the Gary Smart game at the Gate. It really would be a no win situation. 1-0, 2-0 and it's well you should win look at " insert excuse here" . Lose ? we would Literally never hear the end of it. Plus we would probably play even more kids than usual. I ended up not enjoying those games, the more you're expected to win, the more you have to lose.

  9. Do you think an option with Semenyo could be in a 3-4-1-2 formation. Play him in front of two ideally Bakinson & Nagy and behind Wells & Martin. Give him license to drift left / right. We’re clearly lacking creativity and just wonder giving him a free role may be worth considering ?

  10. Semenyo looked tired in the Reading match as did one or two others. However he's worth his place as a striker, he will score more as he plays more games and has time to improve. In any case he's got 2 this season already, that's the same as Martin and one more than Diedhiou and has 4 assists (equal top with Martin) so I don't know what this thread's about.

  11. Does this bacon you know on Facebook think football ended in 2008? How many times have we beaten them since then? ? The same Hull that swept them aside with ease a few weeks ago.

  13. He's retiring in three races anyway. That's it in F1 for him, though I'm sure his family will beg him not to race at any level again

  15. Excellent post. The Armco is generally used where there is less chance of an impact. Unfortunately on this occasion it was a very high force impact. As mentioned in commentary, if he had hit it at the right angle the car would have taken a slide down the barrier and eventually come to a stop (Although there wasn't a lot of it because of where the access road was located). Here, the car has hit the barrier at such an angle and at such a force that the barrier has opened up, but the car has split at the point the roll bar (I think) hits the barrier. ( @phantom this should answer you question) The force of the impact was recorded at 53G. Amazingly Grosjean didn't lose consciousness, which I find incredible. It was around 25 seconds between impact and Grosjean jumping over the barrier. The miracle here is that he went through that barrier, thankfully saved by the halo, but also the fact he was in that fire for so long. I've watch F1 for 30 years a have only seen this sort of thing a couple of times before. A stark reminder of the fact I watch a sport incredibly dangerous for entertainment. Thankfully safety has come a very long way.

  16. Only just heard this unbelievable result so looked up the match report: JUST AS I SUSPECTED: Rovers broke through with a freakish opener. Josh Hare's long hopeful punt forward ballooned backwards up off defender David Atkinson's head and over his keeper Johnny Saltmer, and Daly nipped in to touch the ball over the line. ... Sam Nicholson which took him into the box, the ball broke kindly and he slotted home. Eight minutes after the restart, the lightweight Daly won another penalty when he went down very easily under a challenge from outraged defender Tony McMahon There was further anguish for McMahon when his well-struck effort - Darlo's best chance - was brilliantly tipped onto the post by Rovers keeper Anssi Jaakkola. So, freak goals, fluke goals, 2 outrageous penalties, and Darlington so unlucky to hit the post with a fantastic effort! Shame on those lucky gas b*******s - their name is mud yet again - and well played Darlington. Football is the loser with this monstrosity of a result and all decent football fans will surely agree that morally Bristol Rovers are THE LOSERS today (and every day) and the incredibly unfortunate Darlington the true winners. Hold your heads up and a safe trip home Darlington.

  17. Because I’m old and really don’t care anymore, I will make an observation of this thread that really gets on my tits. Semenyo is not a “striker” he is a forward. The constant reference to the word striker implies goal scorer. Where as the term forward implies he plays in front of the team and tries to create and hopefully take chances. should Semenyo be getting on the score sheet more often. Of course. But he has six/seven assists in his role as a forward. semenyo is not as effective with Fammy but very effective with Wells and Martin. A few goals will come, however it’s pretty obvious FD AND AS really are not that dangerous together. Anyway the point IS we have good forwards with one real goal scorer which is Wells. If you want to call him a striker I could just about stomach it. The other three are forwards.

  18. Watching that I was certain we were having a fatality...... brilliant to see him get out of it. What a job the designers do in survival cell design.

  19. Was Antoine pushed by Morrison at the far post....which Reading broke on us and scored the opener from?

  20. I would go 4 4 2 and have Semenyo replacing COD or Pato on the right or left of that midfield.
