  1. Well, @EmissionImpossibleand @JamesBCFC you reacted to my post above with a ‘confused’ emoji so I thought I’d explore that - you obviously don’t identify with, or understand, my thoughts or musings and that is probably because you belong to the X-Factor, Britains’s Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing, Reality TV shite generation? I’m sure you will correct me if i’m incorrect ... but my post highlighted a time when kids could seriously identify with the bands who were high profile at the time - and that was because we knew that they were the same age as us and they had grafted so, so hard to get a record deal - they had rehearsed in their Dad’s garage with their mates and then when they were confident enough they took their songs all over the UK, playing five, six, seven nights a week at horrendous venues just hoping to get spotted. They worked harder than any X-Factor winner who wouldn’t know the first thing about honest graft or how to pick up a guitar and learn how to play it from scratch - we loved our heroes because they were just like us - they didn’t get flown out to a Simon Cowell mansion, somewhere exotic to practice an horrendous bubble gum pop song cover version to perform in front of brain dead couch potatoes on a Saturday night ready to vote by pressing the red button .... our heroes were real ... and a great example, like him or love him, is Bryan Adams - his band has been together since they were 14 years old, practising in his Dad’s old barn in the ‘70s and early ‘80s and making it to the top ... proper blokes, proper musicians - and the same goes to legends like The Jam, The Specials, The Clash etc, etc, etc .... I can understand somewhat why you are ‘confused’ but our heroes were real, not manufactured and pampered, and the reality they displayed through their playing and lyrics made us pay homage to them at a time when their outpourings were so refreshing and honest. I get the impression your heroes will be forgotten in a matter of years, whereas ours will live forever ... hectic, heady days ... they were just awesome ...

  4. Some people on this post need to be diverted to a facebook group called "Bristol pubs and clubs of the 60's 70's and 80's. I can highly recommend it for a nostalgic trip back in time, with lot's of references to music, pubs, clubs, fashions, fights. All the stuff you'd expect from the title. Let's keep this site back to taking the piss please.

  6. You talk about your youth with great passion, and they were indeed great days. I suspect the confused emojis that your original post got was due to the fact that you have fallen into the classic pitfall of "Bloody kids, not like it was back in my day" that seems to happen to a lot of people as they get older. Don't forget that your parents generation thought exactly the same of you. You also seem to have forgotten that there was an awful lof of manufactured pop in the sixties and seventies as well, it's just that you were a little more discerning in your musical tastes. It's exactly the same now, plenty of 'proper' bands out there that have followings, just that the media these days makes it harder for them to get mainstream exposure than it ever was. There is also a wider variety of different styles and genres than there was.

  7. We can all agree 2020 has been a year like no other any of us have experienced before, and with that has brought many added pressures to people at a time of year where suicide rates increase. Please, if you feel alone or are struggling, try to talk to someone. Life might not always feel like living and you may feel like you are at rock bottom, but the world is a much better place with you in it. Personally this site really helps me, I have really low and negative days but keeping in touch with the Bristol City family is a massive thing. If anyone ever feels alone, please reach out. You can message me, or one of the many other supportive posters on here, or even talk to someone. I won't divulge personal information but I can't thank those people enough that have picked up when I've been struggling and taken the time to message me. We come from all backgrounds, beliefs, age groups and football teams etc, but I believe everyone on here would look out for a friend in need. A few of the Bristol City social media accounts shared the below today. Hopefully it'll also appear on the official website too.

  8. Just been reading this spat between the two of them. Apparently being called a shithead is the worst insult you can throw at someone. Personally I can think of a lot that are worse but if you`re as obsessed as they are..............................

  13. If we can’t use our season ticket to see a game then perhaps we can use it to jump the queue at the gate for the vaccine, Might be the only shot on target we will see this season

  18. I'll be surprised if it is staggered as I'm struggling to think of an instance this has happened in the past for any club. With the Final being the end of May, I would have expected that money to be accounted for by July. I don't doubt the EFL could have put a much stronger case forward if that chose a competent expert. With the EFL not appealing this part of the charge then I think this is the end of it. I thought the rules prevented the submission of new evidence, instead only appealing the decision based on the evidence already provided. Maybe asked a friend/colleague (who visited a while back) for his opinion who described our facilities as "basic". The club's amortisation policy requires a review every 6 months (iirc). If the review says the change is required... The extensions to Butterfield, Johnson and Blackman? It would have pushed a reasonable chunk of losses into 19/20. If my understanding of the policy is correct... An example would be signing a player for £5m on a 5 year contract. £500k amortisation a year for the first 4 years with the rest £3m in the final year. Am extension in that final year reduces that amortisation in the 5th year to £500k, with £2.5m in the 6th year. It may not be 10% per year in the actual policy but it helps illustrate the point. 19/20 shot up to £25.1m. £15m is a reasonable drop from £25.1m, don't you think? It does but it also helps keep the squad size at a healthy level. If we had to sign replacements then the same wages would be going put anyway. Don't think it'll make much P&S impact. You'd hope so. Holmes was a £500-700k signing so a welcome profit on him. "A bit more youth". Any more youth and we'll be an U12 side ? My point was more about doing things 'the right way', rather than looking at amortisation which indicates behaviour from the past. I think the papers suggested around £4m. Doubt it'll be paid upfront . Knowing Cocu he would be happy enough with deferred payment given the financial situation at the club. Given we've allowed him to join MK Dons I'll be very surprised if it hasn't been resolved.

  20. No, my emoji was based on your assumption of how the youths are now, which showed you as clearly put of touch, and probably posting with more than one pair of rose tinted specs on. None of my musical 'heroes' came through any of the reality shite shows, and some of them were playing music before your generation were going out, even born. Nor is being manufactured something exclusive to recent times, The Monkees ring a bell? Nethertheless, my liver and bank account will be glad to know the time I got through £300 on one night out never happened, because you think the generations past yours don't know how to go out, I'll just wait for that money to reappear.

  21. Quarters you say? Probably because it will get Quarter way through development (is ambitious to be fair) before they run out of the family silver. If that gets finished within the next 5 years I'll eat my (a) hat.

  23. It doesn’t matter where it’s from though really, if it gets in and spreads to the rest of the team it’s putting more people at risk through what is non-essential socialising. The players might be ok if they are fit and healthy, the coaches/back room staff and / or their families maybe not so?
