  1. Some sad news as another red and good friend has gone. Joe Nicholson died suddenly at the weekend. A season ticket holder for many years, lastly in the South Stand, block 23. Joe was a proud Scot, who after retiring as a Sergeant Major from the Black Watch Regiment, settled in Bristol, just up the road from Ashton Gate. Often found in The Miners Arms before matches and regularly travelling to away games. Joe was also heavily involved with Bristol Army Cadets. Thoughts and love are with his family. Stand easy mate.

  2. Strikers with his (proven) record at this level don't come cheap. I'd make it a priority to keep him and if that means we have to increase his wages then I would do so within reason. Underestimated player.

  5. We clearly aren’t going to agree on this one. However, please don’t get on the high horse and accuse myself, and others, of “beating the club with a big stick” or “trying to pull the club down”. Its because we care about the club that when we see the injury record displayed, players complaining about treatment, the medical team having presided over similar previously and unexplained long absences that we question what the hell is going on. The alternate is blind faith. And, I’d argue that blind faith actually does more long term damage to the club. Nobodys calling Calu

  6. SL told us not to get too attached to players, and generally I don't, but Fammy is not only a good player but an endearing character who has earned the affection of the fans. I'd rather not have 8 different players each season and a team we can hardly identify with, so imo characters like Fammy who have proved their worth should be kept if possible. We might replace with better but a good chance we wouldn't so go all out to keep him within reason.

  7. Well it’s definitely a plus that he’s out tomorrow night. Just have to worry about Aarons, Buendia, Cantwell, Vrancic...

  9. Plus, right now, Fam has the joint 4th best shots/goals ratio in the Champ - currently scoring with every 4th shot he takes. He's 16th for shots on target as well, getting over half of his shots this season on target. I know stats can tell a story but find me a player that can match that, with our current midfield behind him, for less than £5m..I don't think there will be many. For the level we are at the bloke is very, very good. He may not be the most elegant or attractive to watch, but he's effective, and he scores goals that are effective, win us points, and come at a reliable and reg

  10. 4 goals in less than 7 games worth of minutes so far this season. 3 of those 4 goals have won us games. 9 points. I think we'll seriously miss him when he goes. I hope he signs an extension.

  11. Top goal scorer the last couple of seasons, player of the season last year, a guaranteed 12 goals or so in the team, top scorer this season so far as well I believe with double the goals per 90m compared to Wells, Martin, Paterson and Semenyo (as well as everyone else bar Kasey(!). I'd definitely try and keep him - don't know about highest earner but I'd give him a decent bump to stay personally. I think he's great.

  12. You can add to that, that GMG gave a certain person at the club an opportunity to be interviewed and reply on behalf of the club. The same person was also invited to do the same on a local weekly radio show. Both invitations were declined

  15. As with a few other players, too many fans only focus on what he does not do well, but fail to recognise what he does well and it’s value to the team. Many will only start to recognise what he bought to the team when he’s no longer here.

  20. Had some business dealings involving MA. His response to our price was "Thats ridiculous" even though it real terms it was a bargain. The next day we he spunked out £1.5mill on Gustav Engvall. Oh how I wish I had rang him to give my opinion on Mr Engvalls worth some months latter.

  21. If we play Famara in the way we have the last 2 games, then I’d want to keep him. I don’t think you’d need to make him the highest paid player to do that. If you’re gonna play him the way he has been used until recently, then I’m less worried. The contract situation complicates things, because he could sign a pre-contract today and leave for nothing in July. I’d worry about any player’s commitment to the cause in that situation, especially as the season end gets closer. I don’t care that Fam loves the club, there will be a point when he might not be 100% committed. So, either

  22. Even if you get it chances are the ****** won’t reply. He’ll be playing with the big boys and twiddling with the model...... Meanwhile Ashton and Messrs Lansdown are squeezing the last bit of Airfix Cement out of the tube. There’s a small hole in the tube that they hadn’t noticed. **** me boss says the CEO. The ******* stuff has squirted all over my manicured fingers and now they’re stuck together. Never mind says Steve. Pass I the box. I want to see what the model is looking like. Now where is it? Ah yes here he be. Now it should be a nice shiny AMG 4x4 type thingy.....

  26. An article excellently proving your groundbreaking theory that 4-4-2 is the foundation of every formation, as by moving just one player you can get any other formation I thought. The fact you often manage to condense such articles into a single sentence is even more incredible, bravo!

  32. We won the last game, so we're amazing again and soaring towards the playoffs and certain promotion. Until the next game we lose, at which point we'll be in relegation form over the last 1 game, and the manager should be immediately relieved of his duties.

  35. It’s not really.....it’s actually describing how City won the game and how it impacted Preston. When I read people say we’ll play 442 but it’ll become 451 without the ball, I would like to ask them how do they get back to 442 once back in possession, but I’m generally not that rude....nor do I think I have all the answers either. I do love chatting / posting about this stuff though. I put the post up for those people who like to read in depth stuff. It’s not for everyone.

  37. For those that know the book and film, “The Boys from Brazil”, this sounds like “The Boys from Bristol" Evil Doctor Menegelal, working at the BRI, has cloned Davefevs and sent the clones to all parts of England that have championship clubs, there to sign into the respective club’s forums. Once there they bide their time before starting a campaign of confusion, by making technically detailed posts with charts, diagrams, graphs and pictures which bamboozle fans and turns them into gibbering wrecks. The PNE clone is just the first to have surfaced - you have been warned!

  38. So in short your answer is no then. With all due respect to Harry he is no more ITK than the rest of us as much as you might think otherwise IMO. Why don't we just drop all the speculative shite and get behind the team and club instead of trying to find an outside agenda all the time in order to beat all concerned with a big stick. I just want our club to succeed without everyone trying to pull it down at every opportunity.

  40. There’s been many a time, following a City game, that I've not been convinced that posts on OTIB have been about the match that I watched. In fact, on many match day threads and post match threads it sometimes appears that different fans have been watching 3 or 4 different games.

  41. Which means possession was not a key principle. I have asked a question in threads repeatedly what was Lee Johnson's/ Bristol City's identity? I can faithfully say nobody has manged to articulate what this playing identity was over years. Which is why I asked a poster who insists Mr Johnson was successful what Lee Johnson principles of play were? Spin the question around to the successful (promoted teams) and its clear what they are and what they are based upon.

  42. You’d expect our medical team to be able to get a player fit wouldn’t you. The cynicism was more to do with the timing of his comments in light of Williams’ alleged claims. I also think there’s a big difference between bone / cartilage injuries and muscle injuries.

  44. Totally disagree He himself wasn’t playing well at the time , and certainly isn’t the sort of player able to carry a side Id say he’s looked far better at Burnley he did for us, and watching him it appears quite clear he’s been asked to fulfill a specific role and is far more disciplined in his positioning and his role, and doing it very well. Fair play to him , I confess he’s performing far better at that level than I expected , but I keep going back to my point above

  46. Brentford achievements are not irrelevant. They are a sensible parallel to BCFC who do not receive parachute payments. Are a club who do not dwarf BCFC is size. They are a competitor in the same league. A competitor with a smaller wage bill who like Bristol City frequently sell players. You are with respect missing the point about principles of play. Brentford in your words are recruiting a lot better than BCFC. How? If as you point out Mr Johnson football style frequently changed and you cannot outline what its principles were how do you recruit players with skill sets to meet team need

  47. The team over seasons became less possession based, sat deeper etc. If we look at how the team played 2017/18 and at the end of Mr Johnsons tutoring its was clearly playing in a very differing style. Mr Johnson made no commitment over four years to playing principles. Success? No. The team bored you. Success? Not yours. And I have made no mention of the team failing in meeting a basic requirement of finishing in sixth place for a play off place. Success for Mr Lansdown? No. Avoiding relegation and finishing an average (?) eleventh/twelfth and boring fans i would look upon as med
