  3. To be fair, quite a few have wished Steve Cotterill well following his COVID attack, with several saying they would have welcomed him as a replacement for BG, or even GC.

  6. “Missed every goal this half. Was five minutes late for the start of the second half, and it was already 2-1. Scrolled back through to see the goal, then got up to date to see it was 2-2. Scrolled back again to see the equaliser. Then got up to date to see it was 3-2.” Always the gift

  7. That is good news. Have clubs tightened up on following the rules or is this trend also true in wider society. ok it’s only one week of testing but it’s a hell of a % drop seeing as more players and staff have been tested and returned a very big decrease in positive results. onwards and upwards. stay safe people we will beat it together.

  9. Joe Root has thanked an England fan who waited in Sri Lanka for nearly a year to watch the team play, after England won the first Test of the series in Galle. Rob Lewis, a web designer from Sunbury-on-Thames, first flew out to Sri Lanka on March 13 last year - discovering while he was on the plane that England's tour had been called off because of the coronavirus pandemic. He stayed in the country, however, and was finally able to watch live from the historic Dutch fort adjoining the ground, 10 months later as England beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets. With no fans allowed into the ground, Rob became "almost a beacon for everyone at home", said Root, who spoke to him on the phone following England's victory. "Rob? Hello mate, how are you? It was nice to see you finally up on the fort," said the England captain. "That's why I wanted to come over, on behalf of all the lads we really appreciate your support and it's an incredible story and journey that you've been on. "More than anything, I just wanted to say a massive thank you, we really appreciate you being here and making the effort to come down and support us. It's nice for us to be able to celebrate together." Rob, who had been shooed away by police after watching the first few balls of the match from the fort on the first day, was allowed back later and watched England clinch victory from the same spot. "It's an incredible story. I read about it a little while back now. To see him struggle to get on the fort the first couple of days, then finally up there enjoying himself and getting to watch some cricket was fantastic," said Root. "He was almost a beacon for everyone at home watching on the screens. We are very lucky to get the support we do everywhere in the world. "It was nice that at the end of the game I managed to have a little conversation with him over the phone - lovely for him to enjoy that moment with the rest of the group." "Joe Root saluted me when he got his double ton. Just the realisation it wasn't to a group of people, it was just me, was very surreal - a little moment I'll never forget, that's for sure," said Rob. "And this morning was incredible, just to see out the win and then get the call from Joe himself. It was a really nice touch from him."

  10. Don't think he would ever go there, and it's nothing to do with being ex City etc. The main reason I don't think it would ever happen is because Cotts tells it how it is, and won't take any waffle from above - remember him not filling a bench with youngsters when we were short of first teamers, just to make a point? Ultimately it probably led to his downfall, as he was then replaced with Lee "Yes Sir Steve" Johnson. With some of the flannel that comes out of Wally's mouth, can you imagine Cotts sticking that? Shame for the Saggies, as he would probably transform them into a decent top half team, if not better. Won a league and Cup double with us, playing some of the best football in our recent history. If any of them said that they would hate him there, it would be the classic case of "cut your nose off to spite your face". Whilst on the subject, get well soon Cotts

  11. On CNN today they showed some more film from inside the Capitol when it was stormed. One of the Trump gang is presumably a gas head as he told Security Guards. "Don't try stopping us, there's a million more coming up the road".

  18. Expect so. Mind you, their game at Crewe is of secondary importance to most of them with us on Sky tomorrow. They`ll all be tuned in hoping we get stuffed and that will make their week a good one.

  20. Glad I stayed up to watch that. India showed as well as no little skill, huge character, both on the day and in the Series post Adelaide, albeit towards the end threw a couple of wickets away. Inexperience may have played a part there. I think they might be a little bit better than FTB's? Two notable statistics too- apologies if already posted. 1) Highest successful run chase at the Gabba. Albeit later in summer might help with batting a bit? 2) That Fortress breached. First Australian loss there since 1988! As well as a host of injuries, they even did it without their captain. Overall real ebb and flow to the Series, best for some time IMO.

  21. Oh absolutely, and with things like this, even the firecest of enemies would usually come together and wish said party well (bar a complete moron). I was just adding to the bit you put about some saying they would like him there. Apologies if it come across the wrong way

  22. I dare say you are correct. I was simply replying to the post suggesting that Rovers' fans were 'slagging' him off, when the reality is that most were wishing him well and some, not all, were going so far as to say they would have liked him as manager.

  24. There's something tremendously satisfying about seeing the Aussies stuffed in their own backyard! Well played India! Fair dinkum!

  25. Fair play, this has to rank as one of the greatest comebacks in cricket after the 36 all out in the first test. Made all the more sweet by the fact that it was against the at times despicable Aussies.
