  2. No, that’s cash flow. From a pure P&L point of view, their sales are booked in full in these accounts. Not forgetting in both cases we will have had to pay money to Preston and Ipswich too.

  3. £10m loss last year despite a £25m profit on player trading (Webster, Pack and Brownhill) and £1.7m from match day income. Next year looks really tricky if we don’t sell anyone for big money and with the loss of match day revenue. I guess this explains why contract talks are on hold.

  5. No, no, no - they told us that Wael’s involvement meant they were the 6th richest club in England (source: YouTube), they told us they would be in the premier league within five years (source: YouTube), they told us “as Bristol’s richest club they would take over our club and their youth team would play at Ashton Gate” (source: YouTube), they told the world Matty Taylor would be sold for £10 million (source: Darrell Clarke) - we bought him for £300k and they told whoever was still listening that they were “coming for us” ... yet they are still light years behind, how strange ...

  6. There's something tremendously satisfying about seeing the Aussies stuffed in their own backyard! Well played India! Fair dinkum!

  7. @SuperDziek @Silvio Dante @Rob k Interesting to see you mention Bridge Valley Road SuperDzieck. I always considered that to be a super hard climb - and it is. I thought I’d have a quick look at the climbs we all did this weekend. Bridge Valley - 0.7k Grade 7.6% Somerset Monument - 0.7k Grade 8.3% Old London Road - 0.7k Grade 10.7% I knew the other 2 were biggies but had no idea they were beastlier than Bridge Valley. You were right Rob K - she’s a bloody brute! To think @mozodid this blighter on Xmas day, 15k into a half!!! Maaaan!! I absolutely hated going up there this morning and yet I absolutely loved it too. And I absolutely never want to do it again but know I will love it when I do ?

  8. We can all agree 2020 has been a year like no other any of us have experienced before, and with that has brought many added pressures to people at a time of year where suicide rates increase. Please, if you feel alone or are struggling, try to talk to someone. Life might not always feel like living and you may feel like you are at rock bottom, but the world is a much better place with you in it. Personally this site really helps me, I have really low and negative days but keeping in touch with the Bristol City family is a massive thing. If anyone ever feels alone, please reach out. You can message me, or one of the many other supportive posters on here, or even talk to someone. I won't divulge personal information but I can't thank those people enough that have picked up when I've been struggling and taken the time to message me. We come from all backgrounds, beliefs, age groups and football teams etc, but I believe everyone on here would look out for a friend in need. A few of the Bristol City social media accounts shared the below today. Hopefully it'll also appear on the official website too.

  9. The accounts reflect the full value of transfer fees agreed in the year. Any unpaid fees receivable are shown in Debtors, see Note 16 to the accounts. Any unpaid fees payable are shown in Creditors see Note 18 to the accounts. These show that the club is owed £24 million in unpaid fees and owes £17 million in unpaid fees, so a net £7 million in cash is due. Where the transfer agreement contains terms such as additions on appearances or promotions then the estimated value of these is included in contingent assets or liabilities, so do not effect the current financial performance, see notes 27 and 28. Amount sdue from sell on clauses won't feature in the accounts until the player is sold on.

  14. “Missed every goal this half. Was five minutes late for the start of the second half, and it was already 2-1. Scrolled back through to see the goal, then got up to date to see it was 2-2. Scrolled back again to see the equaliser. Then got up to date to see it was 3-2.” Always the gift

  17. That is good news. Have clubs tightened up on following the rules or is this trend also true in wider society. ok it’s only one week of testing but it’s a hell of a % drop seeing as more players and staff have been tested and returned a very big decrease in positive results. onwards and upwards. stay safe people we will beat it together.

  19. Glad I stayed up to watch that. India showed as well as no little skill, huge character, both on the day and in the Series post Adelaide, albeit towards the end threw a couple of wickets away. Inexperience may have played a part there. I think they might be a little bit better than FTB's? Two notable statistics too- apologies if already posted. 1) Highest successful run chase at the Gabba. Albeit later in summer might help with batting a bit? 2) That Fortress breached. First Australian loss there since 1988! As well as a host of injuries, they even did it without their captain. Overall real ebb and flow to the Series, best for some time IMO.

  21. Joe Root has thanked an England fan who waited in Sri Lanka for nearly a year to watch the team play, after England won the first Test of the series in Galle. Rob Lewis, a web designer from Sunbury-on-Thames, first flew out to Sri Lanka on March 13 last year - discovering while he was on the plane that England's tour had been called off because of the coronavirus pandemic. He stayed in the country, however, and was finally able to watch live from the historic Dutch fort adjoining the ground, 10 months later as England beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets. With no fans allowed into the ground, Rob became "almost a beacon for everyone at home", said Root, who spoke to him on the phone following England's victory. "Rob? Hello mate, how are you? It was nice to see you finally up on the fort," said the England captain. "That's why I wanted to come over, on behalf of all the lads we really appreciate your support and it's an incredible story and journey that you've been on. "More than anything, I just wanted to say a massive thank you, we really appreciate you being here and making the effort to come down and support us. It's nice for us to be able to celebrate together." Rob, who had been shooed away by police after watching the first few balls of the match from the fort on the first day, was allowed back later and watched England clinch victory from the same spot. "It's an incredible story. I read about it a little while back now. To see him struggle to get on the fort the first couple of days, then finally up there enjoying himself and getting to watch some cricket was fantastic," said Root. "He was almost a beacon for everyone at home watching on the screens. We are very lucky to get the support we do everywhere in the world. "It was nice that at the end of the game I managed to have a little conversation with him over the phone - lovely for him to enjoy that moment with the rest of the group." "Joe Root saluted me when he got his double ton. Just the realisation it wasn't to a group of people, it was just me, was very surreal - a little moment I'll never forget, that's for sure," said Rob. "And this morning was incredible, just to see out the win and then get the call from Joe himself. It was a really nice touch from him."

  22. Fair play, this has to rank as one of the greatest comebacks in cricket after the 36 all out in the first test. Made all the more sweet by the fact that it was against the at times despicable Aussies.

  25. One of the great days of test match cricket. Managed to watch most of it. What an effort by India especially without Kohli.

  26. Great work everyone! Having fallen out of love with running quite quickly during lockdown 1 and enjoying the gyms being open again, lockdown 3 has seen the enjoyment of running return! So far, I’ve clocked 40 miles for the month since the day of lockdown beginning. Having only sporadically run outdoors in months, I’m pretty chuffed with that. Not bothered about the speed at the moment, just getting miles into the legs and enjoying being able to get out and clear my head from the stresses of homeschooling etc. Ran up Bridge Valley for the first time ever yesterday. Boy, what was tough. I thought it was then pretty much flat down to the Bridge - how wrong I was. Going up the Promenade felt tougher than going up Bridge Valley! And loads of people around not socially distancing - very annoying. Did 7m - today’s been a rest day as aching all over! Target for the month is 100km - has been years since I’ve achieved that.

  27. I think mental hill climbing was the order of the day today. Thought to myself “Not been to Somerset monument before, might run there”. Vertical. The stupid thing was that it was 10k into a HM so after killing my legs I had another 10 to go. Currently unable to move on the sofa!
