  1. Am I alone in being the only one who liked and appreciated it? He may have a shoddy record in appointing head coaches, but he comes across as well meaning and that interview has given me some confidence he might just get it right this time. I wasn’t expecting the interview, but I feel better now than I did before it.

  3. 1. What control will I have over transfers? None, Mark has developed a proven world class analytics and scouting database, he has 30 years experience in the football industry , he will provide you with a non stop conveyor belt of talent. All you have to do is coach and mould them into a successful team . Easy. 2. Who will I report to? Jon , if you can find him - he's going to spend his winters in Bermuda and will back in the summer for the cricket so if you see him, grab him. you may ask Mark for advice, he has all the power but no responsibility. Shit happens it's down to you

  5. No you’re not alone Fordy - (just finished watching) and fair play @Cider red was first to speak up against the anticipated grain I actually thought that was the best interview I’ve heard from him for a long long time Without saying ‘We ****** up’ in those blunt words he’s taken responsibility and responsibility for getting it right going forward I get the vibe that he’s taken his eye off the ball and let Jon play at running a football club alongside Ashton and that’s been a mistake I get the impression that he’s going to be a bit more hands on. Now his track r

Kal Naismith, Enda Stevens, Matt Clarke, Jayden Stockley, Michael Smith, Jamal Lowe. Spent nothing. Made £1.3m. Another League 2 title. Throw Wigan into the mix. Chey Dunkley, Gavin Massey, Christian Walton, Ivan Toney, Jay Fulton, Cedric Kipre, Josh Windass, Reece James, Antonee Robinson, Dan Burn, Joe Williams, Kieffer Moore, Tom Pearce, Kieran Dowell. Spent £12.7m. Made £6.3m. So o

  8. Warnock or McCarthy would have fitted this bill perfectly - fed up of being shot down on here about those two ... especially when the detractors know full well they would deliver what we want - survival, then promotion ... no mucking about, proper gaffers ...

  12. Club comms is an effing joke. They treat us like we don’t exist. Lied to about the extent of injuries all season. Ashton even had the audacity to go on the radio the other week and say how great it was that Afobe wanted to do his rehab with us. Well, Afobe was on a podcast last week saying how grateful he was to Gary Lewin for setting up a clinic so that he could do all his rehab there. Who’s telling the truth? This injury hit season has shown the true character of our club under the current leaders. Incompetent, careless, deceitful. I absolutely ******* despise Mark Ashton and I d

  15. He made more runs and in put in more effort than several players. He is so often wrongly scapegoated, because he doesn’t smile a lot. Problem is he makes a load of runs that go unnoticed, he runs proactively. Interesting that the couple of bright spots on Tuesday was early passes from Lansbury, picking up the early run. But too many posters don’t see this. Go back to “Offside Kodjia”....we delayed passes after he made great runs, then he gets caught offside. But wasn’t he different when Tomlin came on loan who set him free because he spotted his runs and passed early. Don't

  16. I don't moan much, but even I've had enough of this nonsense. Something has to be done. Its absolutely ridiculous. I find it completely unprofessional to not have sorted this out by now. These injuries are still happening and I guess we are still 'looking into it!' My worry is the conclusion will be that it's just bad luck. I just can't see how the absolutely crazy amount of very long term injuries - all season, half a season, a third or quarter are all long periods out. I just can't see it as bad luck. I even forget that we have certain players at our club that we haven't

  17. Youth wasn't a priority under Johnson so unfair to criticise him for that. The football in the L1 title season and that first season in the Championship was great at times. Other times it was functional and attritional but we won games and got to the playoffs. No manager has achieved that since, and he did it on a relatively small budget. Scouting a joke? Marvin Elliot for peanuts, Basso on a free, McCombe from Lincoln, David Noble for next to nothing.. etc etc. In terms of value for money signings I can't think of many better than those 4 in recentish history. Also the best at

  19. I don't blame him, Lenners. Williams only had 45 minutes v Swansea U23s and 67 minutes v Watford U23s before being asked to start twice in four days. That's madness from Holden when he had alternatives (Nagy and Bakinson were both fit to start). In many ways, it sums up his naiveity.

  22. I thought the most telling comment was "we don't want to bring someone in that is going to destroy what we've built". The use of the word "destroy", blimey! Very strong word. Destroying what you've built would be appointing someone that is going to get you relegated to L1, which is where we were heading under Holden. No manager/head coach is going to destroy the Ashton Gate redevelopment or the new training ground, Steve. Beyond that, what have you "built" that you are so protective of? If it's what MA, JL and you have "built" in a recruitment/chain of command sense, then

  24. Hang on.... So the OS said he left by mutual consent and made no mention of a dressing room incident. And you’re saying that the truth was not contained in the OS But...in answer to anything about the club you only say you’ll believe things when they’re on the OS. Can it be you’ve been trolling all this time? It’d devastate a lot of people...

  30. But the inquiry has come back that they’re all individual cause and effect. SL told us on Monday. Personally, I can see how they got the pre-season work wrong (never had to do it like this before) and that caused injuries say up to Xmas. But since then, I’m amazed that we are still seeing issues....Pring, Williams etc. From the outside looking in, it now looks like high-class incompetence, and that they are not learning.

  33. Q - How many times per day will I be expected to talk to Mark Ashton? A - Well, Lee and Dean spoke to him many times each day, so Mark will be constantly on the phone to you, wanting to know exactly what you are doing. Q - Will Mark Ashton be allowed in the dressing room before the match? A - Yes, Mark is responsible for all footballing matters. It’s important that he shows his presence in the dressing room, to enhance his relationships with the players and to be able to fully assess you in your role. Q - Will I be expected to lie to the fans? A - Yes. We tell the fans

  35. Really; lost the last 6 games have Barnsley, Boro, Swansea then Bournemouth coming up next. Birmingham will beat us and probably Rotherham as well, we may get more than a point off Wycombe but that will involve us scoring more than them. Look at the fixtures left and tell me where our next 3pts is coming from. We need a manager and now, Deans assistants are not the answer, the longer we wait the more chance of relegation, we are not too good to go down in fact we are pathetic at the moment.

  37. Paul and Keith in 6 weeks time then!. Good interview and pleasing to be updated. But I still get the impression SL really doesn’t have a clue what sort of manager he wants next ( except he must fit into the structure). The problem is, is it the structure that is actually stopping us from getting the right person for the first team manager’s position

  38. Credit SL. We all wanted to be kept more in the loop and now we are and will be. Think some forget that we need SL, not many clubs get the backing of an actual supporter. He doesn’t have to spend his money on City, he chooses to.

  40. Good to hear that Steve has listened to criticisms especially regarding communication. He is telling us as much as he can at this time and not raising our hopes that it will be a quick appointment. I would guess that the couple of names that weren’t available during the summer will probably have already been contacted. I’m sure that will keep the speculation going the next few days. Looks like Downing and Simpson will be in charge for a few games at least anyway.

  44. I’ve never been anti either of them. The only time I don’t like Warnock is when he is in the opposing dugout twice a season. He’s a bit of a diva really. I disagree with @Cowshedabout some of Warnock’s football being excruciating to watch. I’m sure from his coaching standpoint it’s anything by pure, but when balls go into the box, tackles are won, endeavour shown, it’s done at pace, I actually find that exciting. I found backwards and sideways with no purpose far more boring. Backwards and sideways with purpose and at a good tempo is fine. We don’t do that.

  45. We are 11 points off the relegation zone and 10 off playoffs... A short-term fix is the last thing we need. Get someone who can instil a philosophy to build upon next season.

  46. As most of us know, a part of interviewing is not just the employer interviewing the candidate, but also the candidate interviewing the employer. This will become more pertinent for us the higher calibre of candidate we want - for example Ben Garner would pretty much take any job, but Pep Guardiola would have lots of questions. So, with that in mind, as a candidate - what three questions would you ask - and as importantly, what answers would be acceptable? Heres mine: 1. What control will I have over transfers? A: A large amount. The board reserve the right to veto any sign

  48. I do think this relegation battle is being blown a little out of proportion. Wycombe are basically down. Birmingham are picking up less than a point per game through 30. Then there is one spot left for everyone left in the bottom half. We have more points than 8 of them and the same as the other two. We do need points but this is a good opportunity for a new man to assess the squad and see who he wants to keep
