  1. Just been discussed on Talksport with Alex Crook a reliable reporter for them stating that Pearson has verbally agreed Apparently contacted Bournemouth who didn’t give him an interview Crook thinks Pearson a very good appointment and Bournemouth would have been better to have taken him Crook was talking to Darren Bent who said ‘One of the best managers I played for’ (At Derby) ‘ Straight down line ‘ ‘ Intimidating ‘ ‘Tells you what he wants , and not interested whether you buy into it or not ‘ ‘If you don’t do it what he asks you are getting i

  3. You’re right he wouldn’t fit in here, and that’s a large part of the reason I’d like him as manager. Sick to my back teeth of managers that do fit in here.

  4. Sorry if this has already been posted but what a fantastically honest and blunt interview. You can see TK is absolutely devastated and is really quite angry. He mentions our complete lack of goal or even attacking threat. He also seems to suggest some home truths regarding a lack of effort and care from other players. He takes responsibility for trying to pick the players back up. Respect for coming out and talking. He didn’t have to spend 6 minutes giving his views. Hopefully the hierarchy see this and it gives them a jolt.

  7. I’ve taken a bit of a break from here recently & don’t intend getting so obsessed that I post every 5 minutes but at the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, we badly need to speed up the appointment process. Cardiff sacked Harris & appointed McCarthy until the end of the season the same day & whilst I didn’t expect us to do that, time is not on our side. It is obvious that Simpson & Downing won’t make any impact & listening to Simpson’s interview yesterday he gave the impression he couldn’t wait to be out of here. I know that people want Howe, Cook or sev

  9. The club seems like a pretty toxic place to be at the moment. Are we discounting the possibility that something has happened or is happening behind the scenes with the players? Record numbers of injuries, many sustained in training and others (Williams, Owura) seemingly mismanaged by the club, and the remaining players seem to have more or less downed tools in a competitive sense. Chris Brunt (signed for leadership off the pitch) decided he didn't even want to be anywhere near this squad off the pitch once he got injured (a decision which coincided with our free-fall). Kalas sounds like h

  14. He’s bonkers but a proven success. Would be a ballsy appointment. I’ve said this before but he reminds me of a Championship and above level Cotterill. Also lots of the work he did at Leicester helped lay the groundwork for their Prem win. He and his usual team have a good eye for a player. I hope he’s allowed to appoint his own staff.

  15. He's quirky. But he chooses his words carefully, and tonight he couldn't have been clearer. There are big, big problems in the squad and, as of now, we are in a relegation fight.

  16. Just saw this: Nigel Pearson to Bristol City. Joey Barton to Bristol Rovers. Still think there should be a sitcom where they’re forced to live together in a Harbourside flat while managing the city’s rivals teams.

  17. 48% - The pass completion rate of the whole Bristol City team today. Please just let that sink in. Just over 1 in 2 passes we’re misplaced. Now you can say everything about the coaching, tactics, manager etc. But those players need to look at themselves because on 5-30k a week that’s an abomination.

  18. Cannot say we were not warned about Ashton. Says a lot I think that SL has been visible and vocal this week. The appointment of Holden following the sacking of Johnson and the reasoning for it will go down as one of the strangest and most confusing moves this club has ever made. More worryingly we are asking the guy who appointed Holden to do it all over again, and we are also becoming haunted with thinking how on earth we can scrape some points together to keep us in this league. In any other walk of life, if you look at it as a transferable, when you put together Mark Ashtons

  21. I posted a couple of weeks ago about games where City simply didn't turn up (all time worst games) - for the record we're on an unprecedented run of them (in black), as others have commented on here, this is some of the worst football ever played at Ashton Gate. The data above, as before, shows our shots on target, vs goals conceded. For people who can't get their heads round xG, this is my simple way to reflect ineptness. A team can't concede more than it has shots on target or the opposition doesn't need to field a keeper. I thought it might be easier to follow as a single li

In this time we played in the FA Cup against Fleetwood and drew 0-0 at home and won 1-0 away. 2021. Derby 1-0 City, Brentford 3-2 City, City 0-2 Cardiff, Sheff Utd 1-0 City (Fa cup), Watford 6-0 City, City 0-2 Reading, City 0-1 Barnsley. Coupled with the fact Huddersfield before the Derby match absolutely battered us for about 65 minutes and could easily have lost 6-2, this run has been worse. All of those

  23. Articulate isn’t he. I do think people’s perception of NP’s persona is way off. But like Warnock, he’ll create a bit of siege mentality and deflect everything onto media, anyone but the players.

  28. Apologies if covered elsewhere, but one thing that in recent times has bugged me no end is the type of talk in interviews around the club. Specifically, the way in which the players refer to seniors and one another - (until Tuesday) ‘Deano’, ‘Simmo’, ‘Downsy’. Why not ‘the Head Coach’ or - hopefully - ‘the Manager’. Call me old fashioned (am 32!) but I just can’t imagine this going down well in any professional environment where seniority and management structures are in place and respected and direction, motivation and performance can run deep from within these principles. I unders

  29. Do you know, the same thing has crossed my mind. I think they’ve all shown in fits and starts that they’re good enough, but consistency is key and they’re not showing it. Perhaps that comes with age... hopefully. Bakinson can be excellent and horrible in equal measure. Vyner (probably not young any longer!) has by and large been dependable. Semenyo looks exciting on occasions but awful on others (but had a late start to the game) and I’m sorry  to say there’s not much hope for Moore. Massengo can be good, but lightweight in equal measure. Consistency in youngsters is o

  31. I know that this has been touched on before, but the huge issue coming out of all of this for me at the moment is the way that large numbers of our supporters feel completely disconnected from the club. Whilst we might not invest our money beyond attending matches/watching Robins TV and buying City-related stuff (often at way over the odds!) the emotional investment seems to have been completely overlooked by those running the club. You could say well what else would you expect from an owner who made himself rich through financial services (a “bean counter” for want of a better term) but actua

  32. I think it was quite clear from Lansdown’s recent interviews that he was angry and was taking personal control of this. I’d guess he was hoping that the caretakers could at least hold the fort for a couple of weeks whilst he allowed Ashton to collate some applications, but yesterday’s game was evidence enough for him to say “right, move over everyone, I’m on this”. Steve is clearly pissed off. And that’s a good thing. Because if he’s pissed off and angry, he’ll sit up and take action. I’d put a lot of money on the ‘process’ being swiftly cast aside at 4:45pm yesterday an

  35. Blimey the wheels have truly fallen off but it was always most likely to happen. Holden did seem a bit basic for this level and it takes a bit of time for your coaching to take effect. We don't need to wholesale get rid of players, we need a decent manager who can come in get the points needed to keep us up, and a manager who can work with our setup. Simpson et el need to go there is clearly somthing wrong with the coaching as the injuries are so deep and frequent somthing is not right there. However given a decent manager, some loans of players like semenyo he's just ever so slightly

  37. This operational mess from top to bottom has Ashton’s paws all over it. If he survives this he must have a pic of Lansdown or Junior with a goat or something. After recent events & these interviews I can’t see any logical reason why the Owner would want Ashton anywhere near the footballing side of this club ever again. The bloke is an absolute bluffer & blagger who is now being found out for what he really is. Lansdown’s problem though is that he himself doesn’t want day to day involvement, his son has shown himself to be incapable & despite being in charge for 25 years he ha

  39. If Pearson keeps us up, and I truly believe he would, even if he walks away in the summer for something better, there must NEVER be a rookie in charge at AG again. Fair play to SL, for this. But please let us never slip back to a "Holden" appointment ever again.

  43. His interview is extremely worrying. He pretty much said he and the defence are sick of bailing out the rest of the team who create nothing and don't look like scoring. Lack of positivity, lack of belief.... he mentioned both. He even said he's looking down, not up. The team look mentally and physically beaten to me.
