  1. Can't believe how excitable some of you lot are. Just chill and have a relaxing evening away from all the nonsense like what I'm doing.

  2. "In addition to the school measures announced by Mr Johnson, the Prime Minister has confirmed that the restrictions that stopped Bristol City players leaving their own half will be relaxed. From this week, the PM continued, City's midfield and defence will no longer have to maintain a 15 yard social distance from its attack; City defenders will be allowed to tackle opponents who are likely to score; and City attackers will be allowed to visit opponents goal mouth and may bring a ball with them."

  3. I don’t think he’s arrogant at all. I think he doesn’t suffer fools and he’s not shy is saying so. That’s not arrogance.

  6. “Joseph Stanley Barton, you have pleaded guilty to the charges brought by this court and it is now my duty to pass sentence. You are a habitual criminal who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. We therefore feel constrained to commit you to the maximum sentence allowed for these offences. You will go to the Mem and manage some tinpot shit club for two years”

  10. I am actually really proud of Lansdown for making this appointment. What a breath of fresh air for this club. Finally got a manager with a bigger rep than the players to inspire them a bit. I was genuinely worried about players like Kalas and Wells, they must have been eyeing up other clubs rather than working under some nobody, unambitious appointments. Big credit to SL, finally the penny has dropped. He will have had to swallow a bit of pride to do this. Good for him.

  11. Why does in all the press interviews he look like he’s being held hostage in Downtown Kabul? Are they acclimatising him?

  14. MA: "Brilliant Nigel, thank you. Just sign down here to become our new Head Coach." NP: "WTF is a head coach? I'm a Football Manager, old school and proper. Got a problem with that?" MA: "........"

  15. Players about to take the knee prior to kick off at The Riverside. Simpson and Downing stood in the technical area. Lights at the riverside go out. ”Dong!” Spotlight shines down on figure stood above the motionless bodies of Simpson and Downing. “Dong!” He looks in Neil Warnocks direction. He points a single thumb at his throat and gestures a cutting motion from left to right. ”Dong!” Camera pans to a petrified looking Mark Ashton sat in the stands.

  16. It’s quite telling that while some teams might reminisce about great cup or league wins, Bristol city fans look back and remember ‘better’ losing streaks

  17. Who was this? Own up, who writes for the sporting life? Bloody funny, fair play.

  18. Yes, the evidence is the absolute shambolic performances of the players. Worst coached set of individuals and as a team I can remember. Can't create chances, can't win corners, can't cross the ball, can't pass, can't take throw ins properly etc etc. Performances should improve under Pearson but it doesn't escape the fact that the coaching of this squad has been very poor.

  23. Just so you know Pearson mostly played 4-4-1-1 with Nugent off Vardy when we got promoted. Following season we signed Ulloa and nothing worked until he went to back 3 with wing backs in that second photo for the last 8/9 games.

  24. I honestly believe most players should be excited about the prospect of working with such an experienced and well thought of manager I can't imagine any will be "scared" or "shitting themselves" as I've read on here. They;ll all get a clean slate and a chance to prove themselves. The players didnt become shit overnight, they're devoid of confidence. From what I've read, he'll reinstill that in them

  25. My only concern with this is it sounds like he needs to be surrounded by an elite coaching team that will take day-to-day training. If he is a manager that coaches, then he'll be more reliant on his coaching team. On this basis I really hope he brings his own men in, because as of now I don't have a lot of faith in Simpson and Downing.

  27. I love the comment; Karen Moore 8 hours ago I’m sick to death of listening to my other half who is a life long city fan moaning about him. If he went hopefully the moaning would stop 

  30. Massive well done Steve L No more what if’s with this appointment, this is s genuinely ambitious move by our club and after so many disappointments with underwhelming management appointments over the years. This time, ambitious talk has actually been backed up by ambitious action and really hope this will be the start of this club genuinely moving on to better things. Buzzing with this one and certainly didn’t see it coming a few days ago.

  35. We were just waiting for the Gas to announce their thug before blowing them off the back page with the King Nigel appointment. Well done to Steve Lansdown. A wise man is someone who admits his mistakes . This appointment deserves to be a big success for Mr L and all us long suffering supporters.

  38. I understand that Downing & Simpson are not popular at the moment but is there any evidence that their coaching is inadequate under the right leadership? They might not be management material (plenty of good coaches aren't) but it doesn't necessarily mean they aren't good coaches.
