  1. Deserves his own thread. Has taken a lot of stick on here with some even labelling him as “our worst ever signing” - which by the way was both completely wrong and laughable. Has always been a quality player and players respond in different ways, early days but looks a different player since NP came in. That finish was incredibly hard and he made it look easy. A happy Nahki Wells is a vital player in this league.

  4. It’s just great to have a manager with a track record at the top level, who talks about the game with such intelligence. How many did we have missing today? 12? Go behind to a soft penalty and storm back. No way on earth would we have got anything from the game if Pearson wasn’t in charge.

  5. Don’t know about anybody else but this is the first time I’ve got that match day buzz for almost a year. Partly due to no fans being in attendance but in a larger part just disillusioned with the direction of travel, I had almost lost interest. Now buzzing thanks to big Nige, whatever the result today!

  6. Played really well today. Right sub at the time.

  7. Just look at how involved Kalas is in whatever Big Nige is saying. Winners to the front please.

  8. That Huddle. Happens behind closed doors normally, again though, no accident. Pearson wants us to see that, and see the togetherness. And they’re hanging on his every word. Galvanizing? You bet your ass.

  9. According to Robins TV it was a "thoroughly deserved equaliser for Bristol City." It really is like North Korean state TV at times.

  10. Good morning Ostriches! Get your head out the sand it's matchday! Made up speculation has it, that Nigel Pearson walked into the team hotel, shook the players by the hand, looked into their eyes and asked them one simple question. "Are you an Ostrich?" Whatever they replied didn't matter. His reply was the same. "Then get your head out of the sand and go beat Middlesbrough!" The power of his stirring words, and his steely glare inspired this ragtag bunch of freedom fighters. Thus the legend of Nigel Pearson's Ostrich Army was born. Given he could that with just a handshake, a question, and a stare, what can he do with a couple of days training? Expectations are ... well for you to vote on! Rumour has it Lee Johnson is now studying a book called "Head Out Of The Sand Thinking and You" in a bid for self improvement. Unfortunately for NPOA, we're playing Swansea, who are in great form, haven't lost at home in the league since October.... and have let in 19 goals in 30 matches! Yikes! They have Korey Smith whose leadership we "replaced" with Brunt and Lansbury. They're led by Steve Cooper an ex England youth coach as head coach. Head Coaches we know are trash, England youth coaches we know are trash, so Swansea's smart strategy and knowledge of basic mathematics has multiplied them together and turned it into a positive! Any changes you'd make to the team that beat Boro? Sessegnon for Towler maybe? Perhaps we'll see a couple of new (for this season..) faces on the bench as the walking wounded return. It's just nice to look forward to the games again!

  11. First half he got pinned between CB and a midfielder dropping in. Bentley dropped straight balls into him, which is really tough to attack and win. Second half, especially last 25 mins, he started to attack aerial balls from the side, coming in, and winning flicks (and deliberate headed passes too) inside to Wells. No CB likes a striker who runs at him from the side, because you can get knocked sideways and off-balance whilst you’re in the air. Two players very good at that were Garner and Best (Leon not George). Wells benefitted from that. So, a little tactical tweak well executed.

  12. Last 2 games he’s been playing in his position. Keep playing him central and he will score goals.

  16. Pearson’s post match interview is 6 minutes 28 seconds during which he gets asked only FOUR questions! The interviewer seemed to hang on his every word as we all do! Big Nige knows how to hold an audience and what to say. Seriously impressive.

  19. We were certainly outclassed for 45 minutes BUT having a Manager who can make tactical tweaks to firstly keep us in the game (putting Wells in a more defensive position), hooking Towler before we were down to 10 men and then enabling a better second half performance is clearly what has been missing. It's called EXPERIENCE AND KNOW HOW.................. I actually think it was a good thing for Pearson to see us struggle like we did for 45 because it certainly busts the myth that we are this great quality side just missing a few tactical adjustments. Pearson will know he has work to do after watching that and based on what he's seen for himself can get on and do it with 6 more points in the bag than we could have realistically expected. I wouldn't worry about posters who don't come back when we win...........that has been happening for years.

  21. Priceless. On Robins TV Wells just said, "We worked our bollocks off until the last second."

  22. 352 v 352. Nagy needs to get around Hourihane today. Kalas should face up to Ayew who drifts in their right half / our left half. Very young defence for Swansea today. Our bench:

  23. That’s a good one for Pearson to use in his team talk. We must put in a committed performance today. It’s essential we earn back the respect of ‘Spoons’ from OTIB.

  24. I expect us to come out all guns blazing destroy every team we play with a brand of all out attacking football the like of which has not been since Brazil of the early 70's. Opposition teams will just stand and clap as they concede straight from kick off ,their managers will be reduced to tears on the touchline Anything less and serious questions need to be asked.

  25. One thing I noticed today is our coaching team looks very different now than it does a year ago. Did some calculations earlier and I think the average age of our manager/head coach and assistants has, in the space of a year, gone from 40 (with the head coach being the youngest) to 55 (with the manager being the oldest). We've now suddenly got three very experienced heads seeing us through games. With the amount of youth on the bench and in the team, that has to be a good thing.

  27. What I want is a pride restoring finish to the season, finishing in the Top 10, showing enough that NP fancies it long term and we decide he is too good to turn down, he lays out what he needs (coaching staff, players, backroom team) to make it happen, and then we have a right good go next year.

  29. That was phenomenal. We basically put 5 men on the goal line to stop the keeper coming, little nudge on him from Wells but not enough to be a free kick. And Palmer goes for it. Thats not luck. That was planned. Totally.

  42. 2-0. The way I feel today compared to two weeks ago is indescribable. The suns shining, I took my boy for a kick about this morning, we have a proper manager in place and I have a fridge full of cider. City won’t balls this up.

  43. No ‘buzz’ yet for me but plenty of anticipation and that’s been missing for quite some time.

  44. Nope... Not yet. Great appointment but this set of players have lost my respect and they need to earn it back.
