  1. No way is Ayling good enough for England. Webster though definitely. And it's incredible he hasn't made a squad yet. Better than Mings imo.

  2. Some short memories on here. A month ago we were totally incapable of grinding out a point like that. More improvement shown tonight and some good performances in Han, Max and Maps. Nice cameos from Nagy and Zak too. Good point tonight.

  3. Our Manager said he wanted to see the boys in different situations, well Pearson will be pleased, he got to see them battle for a point on a crap pitch against a physical side and learned more about the group.

  4. Rumours are that he is line for a call up by Gareth Southgate. I always rated him and was very upset that the Cheltenham water works display signalled/coincided with his departure. But hats off to Bielsa for making him a better player, and finding a captain inside him too. As a selling club though we have to question the judgement around his value. Arguably he has performed even better than any of our exodus of multi million pound players to the premiership. Who performs better than him now out of Webster, Bobby and Joe? Still at least we have that wondrous season with him in our double winning team to remember Hope the rumours are true

  5. Well played Max. A clean sheet at this level is always good

  6. Fam’s “performances” have been criminal for too long. It’s insulting to be honest. Look at Massengo and Palmer tonight with their pressing. He doesn’t deserve the shirt.

  7. He’ll have also learned that in Max O’Leary, he has a very capable deputy for Bents. Although he didn’t have many difficult saves to make, his handling was sound throughout.

  8. Get Fam off, move Wells central, COD on the left, Semenyo on the right

  9. Good morning Ostriches! Get your head out the sand it's matchday! Blackburn have one win in ten, and have fallen off massively since February. Like us they struggle mightily against teams at the top of the table with their highlight wins of beating Barnsley before they started the crazy run they're on, and Middlesborough. In fact they're so bad we beat them at home earlier in the season! This is a team in poor form. Pearson specifically warned against complacency, which is what a manager does when they know the opposition is garbage! "There are no easy games in international football" the England manager will often trot out before we face the likes of Andorra, San Marino and Scotland. However, perhaps we shouldn't be looking totally at the recent results... but more to their recent performances, they beat Millwall, and against Reading in a loss, Swansea in a draw, and Brentford last time out they were dominant in possession but just lacked that cutting edge the higher quality teams have which is no surprise given their injury problems up front. Blackburn press and work hard so the very easy ride we got in midfield last game shouldn't happen. A physical team who have a lot of the ball is is usually a bad match up for our lovely group of lads and their great dna. Like us they were doing well earlier in the season, then fell away badly recently, with a run that's taken them from 8th in early Feb to 15th now. Bradley Dack suffered another ACL injury in their last match and is ofc out for the season. Weirdly, due to injury and suspension we haven't played vs him since Feb 2019. We were due a reunion with Derrick Williams, but he's in another Galaxy now (LA). There's also big decision to be made over Adam Armstrong, their 20 goal man. That's something Pearson says he specifically won't do. But Mowbray has lost a lot of games recently. And if you lose a game vs little ol' Bristol City... as Aitor Karanka and many others have found out, that's often enough for you to lose your job! You have to wonder if the pressure is getting to him, to contemplate risking a player like that! Come on you red buttons! And whatever you do City, don't blow a 2-0 lead away from home in a midweek game! That would be awful... COYR!

  10. I think our initial plan to press like the Birmingham game had to be scrapped because the referee saw every challenge as a foul. There were at least three from Semenyo alone that would have been fine 90% of the time.

  11. I’m not a great fan of Watkins but he ran farther and faster than Fam, in the 5-10 minutes on the pitch against Birmingham, than Fam did in the entire match.

  12. Our record signing leaving on a free is embarrassing for the club. The fact he appears to have partially downed tools is embarrassing for both us, but also him as a professional. I've been a big fan, but at this point he's really starting to annoy me. From now on I'd be playing what we know will be here next season - and that isn't Fam. Get Wells and Semenyo up top - either together, or Wells central with Semenyo on the side from now on.

  15. Interesting to see the total lifetime aggregate attendance figures between http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/brir.htm - 19,682,341 <- Fewers and http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/bric.htm - 31,006,882 <- City Their average seasonal aggregate over the last 5 years is around 207K fans - if we stopped attending it would take them 54 (FIFTY FOUR!) seasons to catch up You can really see why they think they are our equals in fanbase terms,

  16. Don’t know why, gets bad press, but has shown a different positive option for us when he has played.

  17. Wells? Played up top on his own and showed enough form and goals for us to part with £5m quid for him. Semenyo/Watkins/O’Dowda down the sides and Palmer in behind. Makes sense does it not?

  20. O’dowda for fam , Wells up top with a three behind of Callum , Palmer & Semenyo . Think Lansbury & massengo deserve to keep their places

  21. I want to know who the "Ted" that calls themselves "Gaschat" and has infiltrated their forum pointing out the truth about their attendances (such as haven't averaged 10K for 40 years, yes that's FORTY) and outlines what the likelihood of them getting 18-20K crowds at Championship level is!! He/She sneakily uses terms like "us" and "we" to fool the moderators who, based on their understanding of offside, clearly are fools. Funnily enough, no replies to that post................... Another "traitor", but clearly a Tesco Bagger this time, uses Wembley attendances to post about the hordes the Boob Cricketers would attract if they got promoted and states that in a crowd of 47K for their Conference play-off final at least "30K" must have been Glass Butters, a bit of a nosedive from previous #gaslogic estimates there, the estimates that proved beyond all doubt (if you are a Horse Puncher) that they matched our 42K for the Walsall final and ignoring clear photographic evidence showing they had nothing like it. Joey Barton is understood to be taking legal action having been sold a pup and signed a Contract in circumstances that Nick Higgs assured him were watertight.

  23. Back in the days when they averaged 18 k, cough. That is just about where I stood as Martyn Hirst slotted the winner in 1983. I ended up somewhere completely different mind. Best game ever.

  24. Probably one for the elders amongst us but I've just heard Ian 'Tuba' Horrell has passed away. A fixture at every game, home and away, for years and a great laugh. RIP Tuba, sleep well pal.

  27. Be very interesting to see what the team selections are when we are mathematically safe. At present (& I am a big fan of Diedhiou) I think NP is picking him for team balance but he hasn’t been great for a while now & as there appears minimal likelihood he will be here next season it becomes less sensible to play him then. Watkins certainly attracts a lot of criticism but occupies defenders & closes them down in a way Famara does not.

  28. Good point on the road. Feel like this is one of those games that under Holden or LJ we would have lost - grinding out results is part and parcel of succeeding in the Championship so feel this is Pearson making an impact already. Not to mention a clean sheet for Max and our still frankly makeshift defence (no Mawson, Sess playing LB). No easy matches at this level. Happy with that.

  32. It was awful to watch but there were certainly positives. O’Leary got another game & didn’t let us down, Mariappa was outstanding, Sessegnon has stopped us fretting over the lack of a natural LB. Massengo was very good, Vyner & Nagy returned & O’Dowda looks fit enough to start. 2nd consecutive clean sheet. NP said he wanted to see us grit out a game when we didn’t play well, we did just that.

  35. After Holden’s sacking, if we’d been offered 10 points from the following 6 games ( bearing in mind the next 2 were Boro and Swansea away) who would not have bitten their hands off?

  39. If Pearson stays, he's going to need to get to grips with the long-running mystery of how ten outfield Bristol City players can go from looking like a team of world beaters to a team of complete strangers from one game to the next...

  42. Some interesting photos. I particularly liked this one from 1965. Basically Rovers had plans to develop Eastville into a super stadium. Amazingly nothing happened and now, after a series of false starts they’re going to build a super stadium at the fruit market

  44. No disrespect to the lad but what is the point in having sleepless nights and worrying over who to pick out of Grealish, Maddison, Foden or Harvey Barnes if you have Luke Ayling behind them? Decent Premiership defender he is, international class he most certainly isn't in my view.

  45. Yeah I used to stand about there during the glory years, when Eastville used to attract decent crowds. You can almost hear the roar of the crowd and smell the methanol, getting showered with shail from the track; Crump, Gresham, Langli et al hurtling round the bends on those crazy bikes with no brakes. Happy days.

  46. Yep, John Major was Prime Minister & I was still (just) in my 20s, I had my vaccine jab at the home of football last week on age (55+) grounds, so that’s how long ago it was. Makes me laugh when their fans comment on the standard at Championship level (saw one saying there was little difference between it & L1), as if they would ever know. They’re an irrelevance now, never see anyone wearing their shirts & bump along as a bottom six third division side in a tented village.
