  3. The obsession with keeping the ball by passing to and fro across the pitch at the back drives me mad, as does getting to the opposition’s penalty area and then passing all the way back, sometimes as far as the keeper, to retain the ball. No doubt the ‘coaches’ on the forum will tell me that ball retention is all important, it may be to them but football at the top level is supposed to entertain the paying public isn’t it? It makes me laugh when I read about teams having such and such percentage possession as some kind of demonstration of how good they are. It means absolutel

  5. The only thing that could have improved this is if the 2 puppets joined in with a chant of “stand up if you hate the gas”. As for the developing the Mem point, spot on, they winge that BCC has done nothing for them (& still reckon they might in time ) conveniently forgetting they didn’t lift a finger to help us, either. In fact they could not have been more obstructive during the whole Ashton Vale saga & if it wasn’t for Steve Lansdown’s patience we would be no further forward. I said it before, they are just parasites, they add absolutely nothing to sport in the area &

  8. Domestic abuse victims are often abused and assaulted many, many times before they have the courage to call for help either from the police or a support organisation. On average a domestic abuse victim would suffer 35 incidents of abuse / violence before calling the police for help (this figure is from memory 10 years old, it is probably higher now). Domestic violence victims will often be controlled and coerced emotionally and financially (not just physically) so serial abuse in a domestic violence context is not always easy to identify or prosecute. 9. He didn’t serve his sentence though. He consistently complained about it, complained about the paparazzi, complained that the hours he was given wouldn’t work around their pre season tour, until the punishment was watered down to a curfew for 3 weeks. That was after trying to convince the policeman who saw him strangling his partner that he was ‘imagining it’. I’m all for second chances, but only when you can see the learning remorse from the incident. He’s shown none. It’s a real struggle to see how any of the women at the club willl be comfortable working with/for him, and for any

  14. I can relate to this. Honestly, it was incessant during the 80's. Before that time I hadn't been particularly bothered about Rovers. They hid under their rocks during the late 70's but crawled out when the wheels started to come off at Ashton Gate. I didn't understand why they wanted to ram their dislike of City down my throat, but in later years a good mate of mine who is unfortunately a Gashead revealed the problem from his and his mates perspective and for me it highlighted quite clearly why the problem is actually theirs and not ours...... When we got promoted to Divisi

  15. The obsession for this is driving me mad. The amount of goals being conceded by teams who are not capable of playing out through an attacking press is hilarious. Fred dispossessed against Leicester perfect example. Don't get me wrong I want to see passing football but not in my own 18 yard box with attackers swarming around. The risk reward balance is skewed massively in favour of attacking team. If they win possession by default they are in with a good goal scoring opportunity. Big deal if you get through the press you still have a defence in place plus defensive midfielders to get

  18. Honestly, I think that asking Pearson or Simpson is pointless. All McGregor would get in response is "That is in the past and I'm just here to concentrate on the football" or similar. This is one for the Lansdowns and/or Ashton. They don't have to say much, but 7 years ago the Club committed to partnership with a leading Women's charity. That charity has now effectively decided that we are no longer aligned with it, because of this signing. Silence on that is tacit acceptance of it by the club. So, we're not a family club, and we're not serious about violence against women. It needs to be

  20. Why does it worry you ? I see it as , here’s here for 8 games. We’re not going up or down . It’s possible as others have suggested he’s here to change the mentality within the dressing room more than anything. We’re passive & even weak mentally . That needs to change & will be the most interesting aspect imo along with how we set up for the rest of the season . Could be pivotal in how we go into next preseason .

  25. Ched Evans was found ‘not guilty’ in his alleged rape trial - immoral and highly questionable behaviour does not mean he committed a crime. It was a very distasteful episode but for you to insinuate on a public platform that he is guilty of a serious offence is a bit reckless - you can read more here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-37659009

  28. Can you evidence base that? Have a think about successful teams in the championship, then the EPL and further and why there is a clear theme of building play through thirds. A frequent premise of building from the back is building from a base of possession creates opportunity to then alter approach in the second third. A frequent premise of building from the back is building from a base of possession means a team if they press open up the pitch for the team in possession. A frequent premise of building from the back is building from a base of possession means less attacks to defend

  33. Interesting that women’s aid said that the club did engage with them before signing Danny Simpson and that their door remains open. Whilst they and I accept that Danny has served his sentence, I still think it’s a good opportunity for the club and Danny to use the opportunity for some kind of dialogue on domestic violence.

  34. It's a 25 squad. He was a level far above what we have, a premiership centre back despite a lack of pace but the reason we had him on loan.. He unfortunately is injury prone, we are seeing the last days of a very good footballer who should be playing at a level above us but sadly his knees have ended the lads career. I wish him well but I very much doubt he will be seen again in football, you got to feel for the lad..

  41. Thing is, I don't think it needs to be. It's an opportunity to discuss the subject, to actually lead the conversation on it. Sesay is shameful, but this could be about atonement, second chances, remorse and education. There's no need for it to be a day of shame.

  46. Someone made a good point earlier in this thread that perhaps NP has decided Hunt isn’t what he wants going forward, but by playing Hunt, NP can’t see how other players would perform in the system he wants to deploy. So bring in Simpson, who knows exactly what NP wants, and therefore help NP evaluate the current squad better. I would imagine Huddersfield couldn’t offer what DS wanted, either wages, length or both. For us it’s basically 8 weeks pay with no strings attached.

  47. I see it slightly differently. Simpson is 34 and I'm reading it less as a sign that Simpson is what Pearson wants for next season but more that Jack Hunt is really not what Pearson wants right now.
