  1. It's absolutely horrendous what happened to the poor lad, but in times like this there is no divide, I'm sure that the family would be very appreciative of any support we can give. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-thomas-on-his-road-to-recovery?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=chat&utm_source=whatsapp On the 9th March 2021 the world of our 20 year old boy, a keen Bristol Rovers Fan was turned upside down. He was cycling along a notorious part of A4174 near the Hambrook lights in Bristol when he was struck at speed by a motor vehicle. He consequently was hit by 2

  2. In that forty years, they've tried all sorts to get someone to build them a stadium, or give them some land. Blamed everyone and everything when it's gone wrong and, even formed a political party to fight the local elections in "Bristol", while they were paying the city of Bath their business rates. and blaming Bristol for their troubles. They have also done everything in their power to stop our club moving away from them, from opposing our new stadium, the superstore at AG, furnishing opponents with information, to not supporting the WC bid. They are a stain on our city, as much as those " an

  3. Total false equivalence. Stokes ACQUITTED of minor affray outside a nightclub. Simpson FOUND GUILTY of assaulting a woman.

  5. If only he’d done as his name suggests! I think that is a perfectly reasonable response and view. I suspect many are with you on this. I’m probably the same, but there is a part of me that thinks even if he appeared to show no remorse at the time, it appears he has now, his partner (ex-partner?) has forgiven him too, as they seek to establish some form of normal relationship going forward....and therefore why should I be against his signing? If they feel that strongly, contact the club, explain their position....await response. Perfectly up to them to decide to no longer sup

  6. Wow Soap Box Time No chance of a fair trial with you would there Ive made my view on assaulting women clear but you now claim he’s ‘bully’ - on what evidence ? btw Women also commit lots of domestic abuse and assaults and don’t even start on the protest shite

  7. So now the comment has become, well everyone makes a mistake. Oh every club has a bad one. 2 weeks ago an ex player was convicted for ten years. A woman was murdered by a policeman and women protested about the lack of support, attention, and realisation of the effects of violence against them. People are brushing under the carpet a signifiant issue, from someone who showed no remorse in the public place, and now people are discussing what other bad people we have had at our club in the past. Yet every game people take the knee regading black lives matter. We have huge publicity against racial

  8. I thought you were a big supporter of law and order? Look, I'm not being holier than thou, but the two occasions were very different. I was taught as a kid that real men do not hit women. That should be a given. Now all of us who have been in a relationship know you can have ups and downs, and rows can get quite heated. My first marriage was stormy near the end. My then-missus once threw one of the few mementos I have of my late father at me and destroyed it; she deliberately crashed my car and on a couple of occasions punched me. I'm not a saint and I had done things

  9. Thanks for the sarcasm Funnily enough I do , shall we say Stokes acquittal was a surprise to those heavily involved who know the ins and outs If you understand the offence of affray and watch Stokes video - I’d be interested in how you think the Jury reached their decision But that’s the Jury system - And As for Simpson , it’s an assault and can’t be excused or ignored but you may also want to consider , with charging guidelines , particularly in relation to domestic abuse , if it was as dramatic and as serious , as you suggest why he was only charged with the

  14. That is a very valid point.I tried to be measured with my response instead of condemning him outright, however for me he is one of several players I would not wish to represent our club. Not of all those players have the same convictions. As I said before. If they can make amends and move on,thats great. However,I would not wish to employ them if I had my own business and don't want them representing our club.

  19. I did most grounds through the 80s and 90s with City and there is only one away ground where I can honestly say I felt intimidating and that is the old Cold Blow Lane where Millwall played before moving to the new ground. Only time I have seen home fans try to actually climb the fence to get into the City away end. That ground was on another level. The old Ninian Park was sketchy but you were always with a big mob of City there so no worries. The second most intimidating for me was the old Ayresome Park one year when Boro were out for City that night due to what happened at Ashton Ga

  20. All of the places mentioned, except for Halifax, were / are luxury grounds compared to a place I visited in the 60s. For some obscure reason I was staying with relatives near Workington and went to Borough Park to see them play City. Even by the standards of the day it was an awful dump. In those days City and Workington were, obviously, in the same division. Some people have led an exotic life visiting football grounds in Barcelona and Milan etc, but to really live you’ve got to go to places like Workington

  27. This whole situation is quite bizzare, the woman in question who has been apparently so badly beaten and abused can seemingly say no bad about the bloke.. yes they have a daughter together and I’m sure they have had to stay civil for her sake but to be publicly coming out and defending him so strongly seems odd. Anyway as i said earlier in the thread Danny is a top footballer and is a welcome addition IMO. We have all made mistakes in life and IMO if the very women in question has quite clearly forgiven him and moved on a bunch of middle aged men from Bristol posting on an internet forum

  28. Well- I guess I say that on a social media forum for mainly anonymous football fans that it's very easy to take the moral high ground irrespective of actual personal behaviour in day to day life. That , of course, no one on here has ever been sexist in any way or a bully or intimidating or inappropriate to a member of the opposite sex. Or racist on any level. That members of OTIB have time and time again have proved that they are the last bastion of appropriate commentary . That someone's height or weight or sex or colour has never played any part in posts. And certainly no one on here h

  29. Yep that was the day. Two coach loads of City turned up late half way through the 1st half and the ground started to empty as 100s of Wall tried to get out the ground, Everyone was watching the running battle going on outside rather than the game. The ground got sprayed up by some certain City fans (remain nameless) the night before. This was when City were a highly active mob on away days. Cold Blow lane was a serious away game for those that had the bottle in the 80s.

  31. The old Home Park in the early to mid nineties was always enjoyable. I remember one game down there where city were scaling the fencing believing they were clambering into the away end. Sadly not I never found grounds intimidating as we always had numbers. wandering round towns, isolated, was always worse. I remember a tiny group of us youngsters lost in Reading of all places and we stumbled upon a decent mob of theres. Thought we get it, only for city to chance around the corner and see them off. Being rumbled in the home stand at Swindon (I say rumbled, we were hardly

It entirely possible that he is a very "different" person these days Dave.If I am being honest,I am judging him from events from years ago.Perhaps if I knew more about him, especially a more recent scenario, I would have a completely different outlook. Its unfortunate that lots of us have a dilemma with this.

  41. All the top European sides play out from the back, it's the best way to play when you've got the players who can do it. At our level it's not so clear cut. I've noticed since NP took over we're playing the ball long most of the time, which is probably the correct way to play given the defenders we currently have. Cotts had us playing successfully from the back in L1, he made a rule of no more than 2 touches so the ball was moved quickly and also moved to players away from the press but it's probably more difficult to achieve at Championship level unless you have someone like Webster. Unfortuna

  43. I am as conflicted about this as many others on here I think. I am uncomfortable with signing someone who has this kind of history, but I am also keen to avoid being offended on someone elses behalf and to believe that one incident defines a person. I do believe that someone like Simpson can turn their lives around though, I look at criminals like John McVicar or John McAvoy and see great examples of this. To do that takes a lot of work, which his partner seems to think he has done, and a second chance, in which she seems to be leading the way. I don't the latter can be seen as condo

  46. My problem is the hypocrisy . I hate domestic violence but the amount of vitriol on here is laughable . Loads, you included acting like you’re shit don’t stink , never made a mistake is a ******* joke . One act of DV is too much obviously , but is there any history of repeated violence ? Was it a one off ? Not that it makes it right at all . I’m trying to get some balance .
