  1. Hahaha - the circus keeps rolling on.. “Sportsmail understands legal action is being considered and lawyers have been contacted after Barton accused the pair of negligence and labelled their training sessions a 'farce'.”

  2. ?? wmgas 10 hours ago Bristol Barton’s have made it on to the back page of the mail tomorrow thanks to Joey! Great exposure for the club. I imagine Wael to be like the idiot who buys a German shepherd puppy for Christmas because of how cute it looks, a few weeks later the dog is taking Wael for a walk.

  7. What Barton didn’t tell the Gas Hordes was that the Friday session that lasted two and a half hours was only meant to be a one hour session. It took the players 90 minutes working out how to put a bib on.

  8. If you look up the word 'bellend' in the Illustrated Oxford English Dictionary, there is a picture of Barton next to the entry. A vile man perfect for a vile club.

  9. I listened to it last night (for pure lockdown / missing BCFC footy reasons). I did not have a clue who Jon Beavis or the Idols (Idles!) were before the podcast (not surprising really as I am 57 and l now live outside of brizzle), but was pleasantly surprised by it and although it was long, listened to the end and found it really interesting, enjoyed hearing his experiences as a fan combined with his life and work in the music industry. Another great podcast, whatever young Archie thinks of it.....

  14. Garner may not be Manager material but he had a good CV as a coach before going to the Gas, Tisdale has had a reasonable record in the liwer leagues. In both cases it seems unlikely that they wouldn't know how to organise decent training sessions, also Barton is talking as if they are career coaches who don't know what it's like to be a player which is definitely not the case when it comes to Tisdale.

  17. In that forty years, they've tried all sorts to get someone to build them a stadium, or give them some land. Blamed everyone and everything when it's gone wrong and, even formed a political party to fight the local elections in "Bristol", while they were paying the city of Bath their business rates. and blaming Bristol for their troubles. They have also done everything in their power to stop our club moving away from them, from opposing our new stadium, the superstore at AG, furnishing opponents with information, to not supporting the WC bid. They are a stain on our city, as much as those " anarchy type protesters" who choose violence against the authorities. I'd also go as far as to say that, some of those protesters, even looked and dressed like gasheads. Whenever they bring 1982 up, I always without fail correct them. Even some of our supporters believe we went bankrupt back then. A deal was brokered and accepted by the creditors to "accept" 20p in the pound for outstanding debt. A new company was formed, which took over all assets, except players of worth like Mick Harford and Jan Moller, who were sold to pay those debts. That new company also took over the registration of the football club, so effectively, it was a takeover by a newly formed company. Not too much different than whenever a company gets taken over, which is what I expect will happen to them and, this time the owner will have to swallow their own debts, before selling assets to replace that loss.

  18. Something slightly different to help you get through the international break. Jon Beavis, the drummer from Bristol-band IDLES joins OSIB. We discuss the band's meteoric rise, the years of misery it took to get there, his favourite gigs and his inability to stage-dive. Not a huge amount of Bristol City chat in this one, but a great interview nonetheless! If you've not heard their music, I suggest you check it out. http://linktr.ee/osibpodcast

  19. I would think it’s actionable and the club could be included as he was talking while in the course of his job. WAQ must be upset - unless of course he’s already looking for an excuse to sack him without compensation; this could count as gross misconduct, you’d think.

  20. The LMA will 100% back any action if it goes that far. His comments make two of their members virtually unemployable in football, certainly as a Manager anyway. I appreciate that Joey is tearing it up at The Theatre of Tents but even as they storm their way through the division I still think those comments are out of order. As ever, the dribblers lap it all up.

  21. I think Barton thinks he's too clever than he is by virtue signalling to the gas fans in preparation for their likely impending relegation. Sort of an insurance to keep the faith with him for next year. Instead he's created more chaos and potential legal issues whilst putting down two sacked managers.

  24. Maybe he's worked out that the club is a basket case and he's being a pain to try getting compromised out. Mutual agreement, personal reasons etc. - plenty of clubs up north where he could work. Easy to do...

  25. About 4 years ago I had the same view as some comments in here, shouty, loud and violent etc. Did not get it at all. Then kept slowly going back to them with songs like Danny, eased myself in via the videos on YouTube and I’m now a huge Idles fan. Love everything about them and what they do, in-fact I think they have altered my taste in music to some degree. Jon’s drumming on Ultra Mono is insane and he’s gonna have to keep fitness up for the tour. wonderful podcast guys, loved it, thank you x

  26. I enjoyed it. My only reservation was when hearing about the band setting a 5 year plan with their record company, with number one album on the list. My naive rock n roll romanticism would have counterculture bands like Idles balk at setting career milestones, but having heard about the long road to their debut album, and the escape from working bars, even a foolish idealist can completely understand the value of 'making it'. Plus, Danny Nedelko is hardly a pop song. They sound like they're in a good place now. Hopefully they'll retain their edge and energy and keep touring.

  33. Massively respect Idles for what they have achieved just not my type of music at all. Completely irrelevant though....a brilliant interview and very interesting to hear band dynamics, how hard they worked and made me reminisce about going to gigs 1-2 times per week in Bristol before having kids put a stop to all that !

  37. By sheer coincidence, yesterday was the first day back on here for me. I stopped coming on here the day that this topic started. Gave myself a break from a few things, one of them being this forum. Thankfully I have very supportive friends and family and my company are shit hot on mental health and well being policies, they've been extremely good. Just want to get back to my office, even if it is just for 2 days a week to begin with. On a side note, because of my epilepsy and my ptsd, I've had my first covid vaccine which surprised me but they said I was entitled so I took it.

  38. Possibly one of the greatest ever threads on OTIB. I have read it, but not yet contributed. Why now? Well I don't know, but that doesn't matter. I have been really down for several months for numerous reasons. Sometimes coming to OTIB helps... sometimes it doesn't. But this thread reminds me that there are some really wonderful people in the world. I have had ups and downs and left and rights over the last 6 months. I have seen myself get very close to ending up in some extremely dark places, and at points questioning life. What is life? How valuable is life? Is life worth living? It was scary, very scary. The most important thing I have done in my life is reach out to family, and friends, and to tell them how I'm feeling. Even last night I messaged a friend at 9pm to say "Not so good, just needed to get in touch with someone". We were then on the phone for almost an hour, and I felt better afterwards. I was scared of getting professional help. It made me feel weak. A failure. Someone who couldn't live a life. All this even though I have had counselling before. You feel embarrassed (Even though you don't need to tell anyone you still do). I did it. I picked up the phone in and I made that call. I want help. I need help. Am I better? No not yet, it can be a long road, but I am beginning to see things in a different light. I am now at a stage where I can fight those dark thoughts rather than absorb them and end up falling in to a bigger, deeper, darker hole. Hesitant about reaching out to others? Unsure if you should get professional help? Do you feel sad or embarrassed that you have got to this place? Don't be. It's human nature to help other humans. Someone will be there for you.... Always.
