  1. Why? He’s got the Worlds most placid, gullible fan base behind him who lap up every word he says like the love sick weirdos they are. The same fickle bunch who were saying how much they hate him and calling him a disgusting thug when he was at Fleetwood but change their tune completely the second he arrives at their shit excuse for a stadium. Granted if a bigger club like Preston or Charlton or even Accrington come calling he’ll leave the Sags in a heartbeat but for now he’s got the easiest job in the World. Let’s be honest, they’re probably the only club that would touch him wi

  2. He might know the answer, but the point is to inform the listener. So if GMG knows the answer but the wider listening population doesn't then there is a point to asking the Manager about it. But as GMG has been on the naughty step since day one, maybe he needs to steer clear of this type of 'question'.

  3. Harper is behind Pring as well. It may just be a case of being honest with a player and saying "Look, you are probably 6th choice left-back, what do you want to do?" and having a conversation about it. Harper might prefer to chance his arm elsewhere. We have to assume that Tinnion has had a massive say in this and I trust his knowledge on players. Hope the ones released get picked up quickly as you would think that the likes of Newport, Cheltenham, Forest Green, Bristol Rovers and Swindon have a very close eye on who we are releasing. I am sure the club will help them find new clubs

  4. No chance. They are the least organised fan base in the world. They had a fan on the board of directors who was sacked and doesn't appear to have been replaced. Under Higgs, they had their black and gold protest that amounted to one bloke wearing a scarf despite getting himself on Points West to announce his scheme. When the ended up non league, I'm sure they demanded a complete review of what went wrong and never got an answer. Even when things go right for them, like winning a play off game and the club decide to celebrate this by going to Kingswood on a bus with a s

  7. Saw this on the BBC website https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/extra/hfe5e1289y/The-Impossible-Dream I was going to post it in the thread about the released players, but it is a story that will likely be of interest to those who don't follow the U23s.

  10. On Harper like others have said at left back we have Pring and Nurse. Pring was starting to find form at Portsmouth. Looked very good in a game I saw and was during that time at the end of his loan really impressing Portsmouth fans. Looks very good all round to me. If he can get back fit them I hope he is part of things next season. Nurse is only 21, soon to be 22. After apparently impressing in league two hopefully he will be loaned to league one next season. Got an amazing left foot on him and looks to have decent pace and a bit of strength too. I think Harper is more up agai

  11. Impossible job my arse. An absolute huge amount of talent to select from, even if the likes of Saka, Foden etc get called to the senior squad. Happens for every other country.

  14. That's a good analogy but I think downplays his role. Imagine if you had to go shopping but the misses spent a year drawing up the shopping list and you only get 2 shops a year the misses also demands only the finest steak, you get to the supermarket but stood in front of every steak was a bloke saying that if you want this steak its £200. Dealing with players and agents isn't an easy job, it isn't take it or leave it, it certainly won't be dictatorial like it used to be, it isn't the club or MA calling the shots it's invariably the agents demands for there clients, when you overlay poss

  15. My feelings are that VAR has ruined the game. Let's look at this in simple terms: We go to football matches for enjoyment (or in the hope of enjoyment being a City fan). The main moment of enjoyment is when a goal is scored. VAR takes away that moment, you cannot properly celebrate, it's always in the back of your mind whether it will go to VAR and then be disallowed. Imagine Korey's goal vs Man U - many peoples favourite City moment - you would have half celebrated, but then it probably would have gone to VAR, minced around, goal given, but that initial moment of joy

  16. Have you been on the calvados? NP is thoughtful and articulate, with few if any, buzz words. Plus he’s here to get a winning team in the pitch and not do Klopp-esque comedy routines at the press conference. Perhaps we should focus on the content rather than the tone.....

  17. Well you only have to hear the man speak to realise that he hasn’t come here to manage some mid-table team. He understands our “unique” story and you can see he is genuinely excited to have been given the opportunity to become a legend here by achieving promotion to the Prem. We are certainly going on a ride over the next 18 months or so and for sure he will get the best out of each individual player & the team collectively. The final piece of the puzzle is how well we recruit - who, where from, what level, how much etc. I’m not sure he is too hung up on big name players & in

  18. I would not say that he is another Pat Lam but he is, permanently I hope, City's version. Sports team management is a wide mixture of strengths and weaknesses. The art of it is to make the best use of the strengths and improve the weaknesses. It is more about managing people than being tactically brilliant. Those who are new to it will struggle to pull it all together as we have seen to varying degrees in the last four/five years. Should Nigel Pearson decide to stay, we will have someone who's made mistakes in the past and will continue so to do as none of us are perfect. But he'll

  20. My takeaways from tonights game; Better than the other two games this week. Foden - every inch an International player, love watching him play Phillips - International my arse Pope - he will never be able to kick a ball properly, he kicks with a "floppy" foot, mostly side foot. Liability in that respect. The rest of his game is pretty average so I can't see him being an England number 1 for long. Totally unimpressed with him. Stones - always got that mistake in him, but all defenders have tbf and he had a very good game other than that, plus a good assist. We lo

  23. It's good that Pearson is at least addressing the Simpson question - admittedly in quite abstract terms but I can understand that. I still think it would have been sensible for the club to make a public statement acknowledging the concerns and affirming their commitment to challenging domestic violence at the time of the signing. I don't think it would even have needed to be a negative statement. If Pearson has been talking to people who've been supporting Simpson and that means that Simpson is indeed getting guidance and support then it could easily have been "we're committed to making

  25. Not surprised with any of these. Not being harsh but Opi was never near the standard required. I am glad he got a few appearances and all that as I am sure he worked very hard for them. That said he is about to be 22 and has no standout features. He may make a league career but can’t see him ever being a regular at championship level or even top L1 level. Also, I think it is right to get Britton signed on for another couple years but if he is that good he needs integrated rest of this season and through pre season. For all the buzz on here and in news articles, I don’t recall him eve

  26. I’ll watch this later but almost no praise is high enough for Pat. He’s an inspirational leader. When City had an injury crisis we panicked. When Bris were missing key players through injury and internationals, Pat trusted the systems the entire squad were coached for.

  27. Watched him many times for the U23's.... Good positional sense/awareness,,solid defensively,,would be great in a '3 as he gets forward(pace to burn),,can get in behind & is a decent crosser of the ball...not much not to like. The only thing I can view as(a possible)negative would be his frame,,maybe needs to strengthen his core a little-but more than makes up for it with a hell of an engine-bloke can really motor... Last but not least,,great attitude- team player.

  33. De Bruyne, Aguero, Fabregas. De Bruyne and Aguero in semi final games. When I saw Fabregas it wasnt a particularly special performance from him, other than being his senior debut. Did I think that 5-10 years later he would be in the discussion for one of the best CMs (as he was at the time) absolutely not. Edu, Wiltord and Kanu also played. Honourable mention, Colin Daniel.

  36. My hunch is that Pearson will want to bring in someone he knows & has worked with before to the coaching staff, a lot of people have suggested that will be Craig Shakespeare, but he would have to be prepared to leave Villa (his boyhood club) to do so, so it might yet be someone else, like Chris Powell. We do already have a lot of coaches, in addition to Simpson & Downing, we have Cisse, Alex Ball who is doing a great job in charge of the 23s & Gilmartin is seen as a coach now after we didn’t register him as a player. Pat Mountain the goalie coach, too. That seems a lot to

  37. I'm sure it would be difficult to get a club side to agree/agreement all round - but I always thought - at youth international level - it would be good if you could have a club coach who took charge part time. Rely on dedicated coaches/scouts to ID talent, but then have a club coach as part time manager. You could then pick someone who's team played the right brand of football and they would gain great experience/make connections with up and coming players. You could even have an age bracket for the manager under 45 for example. That way the set up is developing players and a coach. Not

  43. Could be quite an interesting social experiment actually. There's no way the players would crowd her or get in her personal space. I also think there'd be far less profanity towards the ref. Could actually be a really positive step. I'd like to see refs mic'd up like in Rugby really.

  44. Yeah for sure it's a total shitfest nobody who has enjoyed football over the years wants it, but it's here to stay, no way will it be reversed. The pure joy of a goal at the top level has been taken away, Roberts goal against Hartlepool imaging trying to go mental but looking at the ref just in case. ****** hate it and makes me hate modern football even more.
