  1. Thanks all, and apologies for the rant, expletives and so forth. Not aimed at anyone nor the club. Just sometimes it's difficult to hold back when you have had to deal with the situation at hand. Its a number of circumstances a few beyond my control. It's very frustrating and time consuming. I think I need some time out right now,

  2. You do a great job Tom mate. Perhaps explain what’s happened so people don’t jump to conclusions though. Forum is easily one of, if not the best available.

  3. Mods - any reason why my post made back in Feb outlining Ipswich's US takeover, Ashton's rumoured involvement and Steve Lansdown looking to sell the club/look for investment appears to have been deleted? @TomF@phantom Only it appears to have all come true!

  4. I've no idea as you say Tom but this place is really important to me and many others. Your work is very much appreciated and personally I'd feel a bit lost without it. I don't know what i/we can do to help but you certainly have my/our full support to keep this place going. Sorry to hear it's been a tough time but please stick with it, we're right behind you.

  5. If you take all emotion out of this, and look at the facts as they are. We have a huge amount of “first team” players out of contract at the end of the year, and we know what that means regarding commitment to our cause. We have a manager out of contract at the end of the season, with nothing concrete about his position long term. We have a CEO being linked to another club. We have a chairman out in Bermuda building houses. We have an owner openly admitting he is open to funding and maybe a way out. if anyone genuinely believes there is a coach/manager that could come in and get a tune out of us I’ll have some of what they are smoking. this is a real mess, we need leaders, an identity, pretty much a new player in every position (Barring GK). The fact is whoever we appoint, there chances of failure are huge. My view is give it to Pearson today, it ticks one of the above boxes. He can then start to build today for next season, time is the commodity that will kill us.

  8. The inquest into Lee's death was opened and adjourned earlier today. He missed training last Wednesday so the hotel he was staying at was contacted. They then found he'd taken his own life. Desperately sad news to try to come to terms with. I've been a Yeovil fan all my life (50 years and counting) and this is one of the saddest pieces of club related news I've read. I was working at the club in 2010 when Adam Stansfield passed away & that was difficult to deal with, even though he had left Yeovil several years before. But to have this happen is devastating for his family; he had a partner and three gorgeous girls under ten. As others have said, for goodness sake please open up and talk to others, and don't let it get as far as, well, you know. Rest in peace, Lee.

  9. You and the other Mods do a stand up job, mate. It's appreciated by everyone. The fact you've been pressured - by persons unknown but whose identity is simple to work out - into closing down that thread speaks volumes about those leaning on you. I'm sure closing the thread was anything but an easy decision. I can hear the weasel words now "commercially sensitive" this, "non-disclosure" that. Publish and be damned!

I'm so desperately tired now, I'm even considering telling the MD we'll serve our notice on hosting the forum and simply close it down. I'm absolutely done with it.

  14. We knew something was on the cards for some time but the announcement was only made today. A lot of fans here have been in the dark as to the nature of what to expect or when some kind of confirmation would arrive. I've been reading up on all manner of pages the last hour, TWTD, BBC Sport ITFC, Tractors Boys.com, even the Pink Un Norwich City message board to gain opinion, it's still relatively early and a lot to take in. Why the hell this didn't come to practice before now is a mystery. These American owners we're looking at, I don't think it's a name for everyone and people may be getting ahead of themselves (just overriding relief that Evans has sold up) but since 2007 we've had the latter name and despite putting money in to the club he never provided money to spend on the team at least nowhere near enough for us to be competitive and only seemed to speak out or show himself when the team were at or near a crisis level. His intentions may have been good and been successful in other business ventures he had but regards ownership of a football team was totally adrift of reality. Funny old game, few days ago one of the worst instances of sport with a 0 - 0 with Rochdale, messing up again a chance of a promotion and now this. Seems to arrive (the takeover deal) at an inappropriate time in that's it too late for a promotion bid so guess it's planning now for next season. Got to look on the bright side though. Few weeks ago we had Paul Lambert and Evans appeared to be going nowhere, now it's a new manager and ownership we're looking at. Paul Cook our manager has struggled to make an impact since coming in, results and performances have been really no better than Lambert and one or two were even suggesting an exit so soon after coming in but today's news has to be encouraging. I didn't really want American owners particularly ones I don't know enough about. 40 years back the Cobbolds (our then chairman and owners) put together a team, manager and club set-up that could rightfully boast to be on the verge of Europe's greatest but the fall since then has been colossal. There was talk today of restoring us to former glories from the ownership pairings but not sure quite what standard they had in mind for that. What we did and achieved under Bobby Robson can never be repeated. All I ask is make the team competitive once again, provide money for decent players and at least have a bit more ambition than Evans could have attempted. I'm not asking for an instant return to the premier league or European adventures once again - that's just fantasy land to the realists - I just want some pride and excitement restored to the club name after years and years or stagnant waste and misadventure. Got to go now.

  20. The Pearson situation is waiting to be resolved, we have a large number of players out of contract and very likely to leave, especially on the back of some of the worst performances for a very long time. Add in the chairman being lost in the Bermuda Triangle, the CEO possibly going to be lost in the Suffolk Triangle and the owner looking to bring in new investment. Does anyone else feel that we are on the cusp of some pretty huge changes at the club- for better or worse?

  21. The group of players have been second best in almost every single game this season, even the vast majority of the ones we have won. How many games have we actually won convincingly where the scoreline reflects the difference in performance between the two teams? Contrast that with the number of games where the "shithouse reds" have literally mugged a result from the opposition. At least 10 of our 15 wins this season have been daylight robbery on balance of play. Doesn't that say anything to people? It does to me, it says we are either the second poorest or even poorest team in this league in terms of performances (not results) - I think the stats show that to be indisputable. We are crap and we have massively over achieved this season in terms of points gained, no two ways about it. If points reflect performances throughout the season we will be lucky to get 2 more points this season and will be reliant on Rotherham having too many games to play. It would not shock me at all if we finished 4th bottom and, for me, that would be over achievement based on PERFORMANCES over the season. Performances got significantly worse (from a very low level in the first place) and have maintained that level from the moment (as others have already stated) that Mark Ashton went and told Twentystone there would be no contracts handed out except possibly the massive, record busting offer made to Dave (who ultimately has given us the middle finger). Again, haven't you noticed that motivation and performances that weren't exactly great to start with have dropped off a cliff since then? Have you honestly missed that? Whoever takes over our mess of a club whether it is Pearson, Wilder, Lowe, Appleton, Flynn even Dog Botherer if you like, you name them yourself, will all look at this squad and think "I've really got to get most of this lot out". 100%, no argument, that is what they will think when they look at our performances this season. It is your prerogative to expect instant results with sub-standard, demotivated players but I can guarantee you are going to be disappointed for a long while to come WHOEVER IS MANAGING THIS SHOWER OF STEAMING SHIT. I want it all and I want it now....................

  22. So I think the OP is seriously suggesting that there is very little difference between someone who had only previously managed Oldham for 15 games & someone who won The Championship title for Leicester with 102 points, is that it?

  23. No, the typical outcome is Swindon get docked points,Rovers hold a party then lose at home to a team wearing their shirts and get relegated anyway

  24. I don't wish to comment on this specific event, but it doesn't half make me feel that if people cared for each other in every deed and word, this world would be a whole lot better for everyone to live in. Just for a few mins every day, think about your own impact on others, the things you say, the views you perpetuate, whether you add to or take from society. Make sure the world is a better place for you being in it. Make it a better place for others.

  27. Yep, I think this is exactly it. He needs someone from the outside to get an inside view when his back is turned. We might find out this summer Serioudly though, the guy has done ok since Ashton left him in 2015. He’s stood on his own two feet and recruited pretty well. I hope he’s learned there’s a better way of recruitment. you don’t get it (the love-in) because.... ....you are purely looking at it from what happens on the pitch. That’s important, but when there’s a festering mess beneath the surface, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. Listen to the interviews. Some of the players have downed tools. He doesn’t want to throw the youngsters in because they might become damaged. So some of those wasters are being picked. He’s trying to be responsible, he’s taking ownership. Running those youngsters now by throwing in 6 or 7 of them (he considers HNM and Semenyo as 2 youngsters) might destroy them. I don’t think it’s a love-in either, it’s just a recognition by fans that we are in a mess and we have someone prepared to call it out. Wake up to the mess at least.

  31. NP is not good enough! I mean he took Leicester from League One to the Premier league and built the squad that took them to the title after saving them from relegation the season before. He left Leicester the first time after they went behind his back to appoint a new manager. He left Hull (who had been relegated from the Premier league and were in financial difficulty) to go back to Leicester. He had a row with Mel Morris (probably over dodgy finances) so left Derby and could've saved Watford from relegation if they didn't decide to get rid of him. Even though the players are the problem (some don't seem interested enough and NP has said this) Dean was never going to get time and was always going to be judged on the results given he doesn't exactly have a record behind him like NP. NP is a breath of fresh air for us, someone who isn't going to give us Johnsonism's or tell us "we go again".

  32. Just when fans are thinking that nothing could take the edge off the thought of MA leaving! As others have said, this is probably one of the best, if not the best, fans forum out there and while I suspect that most take it for granted, at times like this I also suspect that all fans understand and appreciate the massive amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep it running for our benefit. It will be a damn sight easier for the club to replace the CEO than it would be for us to replace our forum. Keep up the good work Tom - please!

  34. I've had no contact with the club, no. They have a protocol if they want threads removed which is to contact the supporters trust and/or myself and we deal with it appropriately. They haven't asked for a thread to be removed for well over 5+ years, maybe even back to the GJ days possibly.

  36. If Ashton hasn't gone to Ipswich by the time of Steve's trip over from Guernsey we should put their meetings on Robins TV like the final episode of the Apprentice. "Mark, it is with regret, you're fired." "Nigel, you are hired." In fact we could even organise for the out of contract players to try and make ice lollies or produce an advert for cat food, so that Steve can fire the lot of them before he goes back to Lulsgate too.

  39. Please let it be Mark Ashton that is appointed. Completely squandered the legacy and potential afforded by a double winning team. Any has presided over the most expensive recruitment drive in our history. There have been some hits but on the whole it must be judged on what we have - an unblanced squad and medically inept setup. We are now relying on unproven young players, who are not IMO ready for the Championship. And to compound matters lots of players have been allowed to enter the last year of contracts and can leave for free. What an absolute farce that is. I'll drive you Mr Ashton to Ipswich.

  40. What has become ever more apparent in recent weeks is the complex mess we are in. The decline started under LJ (who overall I liked). Last summer, when a change of tack (i.e. a more experienced manager) was needed we ended up with Holden. Added to that a concerning amount of injuries, questionable recruitment, players devoid of confidence and/or not caring, and bad playing habits (like Rowe’s backpass, and I don’t like singling him out because he’s been ok for us). I must admit I thought NP would have a more positive effect short term (the signs weren’t there in the Swansea game), but the habits the team are in run deep. GJ faced a similar problem when he was appointed and we went in a long losing run. NP needs to be given a contract and allowed to build his own side. And by that I don’t mean splurging cash for a promotion push (that feels like a distant dream) - I mean a team next season who are hungry and well-drilled. Signings to fit the style of play NP decides on who give us value for money. The basis is there with the likes of HNM and Semenyo, two young players who have been giving their all despite the more experienced players around then looking like they’ve never been on a football pitch before. The main positive is that with so many OOC players we have a chance to clear the decks and re-build. Is anything guaranteed under NP? No. But he is surely very well placed to sort out the mess we are in, especially coming in with an experienced outsider’s perspective who will have the know-how to try to address the problems we face.

  41. The owner can look at the situation in many ways, but he must at least be pleased that HNM and Antoine figure well in NP plan's , and he has not been afraid to use our youth. These are huge positives for the owner, and I doubt there are many mangers big enough to go down that road. It has been said to death why the current team is not performing, it has been a long time coming, and was really evident after the pause last season when we cam back playing like a damp squid. It cost LJ his job, but that squad, is this squad, and has been assembled at huge cost in terms of transfer and wage bill. That the owner sanctioned a 5m 30 year old signing makes him also culpable for allowing such a return to old City practices. The club has not had a footballing identity or strategy for years. So what we have is a collection of players where no one kows what they were signed for because we have not had a clue how we were going to play in the first place. Add in many out of contract at the same time, others injured, others who don't want to be here, and a group of youngsters thrown into the fire . NP may or not be the right person, but he has clearly identified what many have been saying for a few years now. It is not a case of I told you so , more what on earth dd you expect. It has been so blatantly obvious it is only a shock people might be shocked. NP at least brings some experience, of both promotion and also the Prem league. No one else at the club has that. So if you are asking what is needed to get the Prem, there are few other people better suited. His task is the same as GJ and SC , we need to turn a sinking ship, and all of his comments could have been said in the past by both of those successful managers. We need a team, we need ability yes, but we need hunger and desire and above all a team. So rather than waste even more time, time that we do not have, why don't we set about confirming the manager, and get on with rebuilding the scouting, coaching and first team squad. Because time is of the essence. Waste more time, and anyone coming in will face exactly what NP has to face, the issues will not change. Yet they will even less time and even less opportunity to understand what is missing. No manager choice is perfect, but NP ticks more boxes than most and I am personally excited about him creating a solid squad and team, where our youth players can come in, be guided, supported and flourish alongside team mates who care. I would think the issue is rather turning, sign NP before he decides his own future is elsewhere.

  42. There were people wanting rid of GJ then too. Indeed, there's a thread to that effect in the Classics section on here, started during that run by a former poster who is now active on Twitter, Radio Bristol and podcasts and very much likes to portray himself as the smartest man in the room. Needless to say, he wasn't amused at it being bumped when GJ got us to the Championship playoffs.

  43. There’s more to life than CVs. The awkward fact for me is that earlier in the season, when Holden was in charge and the injury crisis was at its peak, we were playing better than we are now and occasionally producing some decent results. When things started going seriously wrong, the blame was put entirely on Holden and the coaches, and the players were absolved from all responsibility. Every single mistake a player made was put down to poor coaching. Now the tables have turned and the players are held entirely responsible for our current abysmal form. While I certainly don’t absolve the players from blame, I don’t buy the theory that there is an organised player conspiracy and it is concerning that Pearson doesn’t seem able to turn this around, despite his CV. Ok, it’s been a long and difficult season, but I expected better results once Pearson was in place. He is meant to be a strong manager, so are we really saying that he is being effectively bullied by the players? Or perhaps the players are just completely devoid of confidence and self-belief after a long and traumatic season, in which case isn’t it the Manager’s job to fix that? Don’t get me wrong, I was pleased to see Pearson come in, but I expected better from him in terms of what I’m seeing on the field.

  45. I know for a fact and posted on here many weeks ago that it was all too cosy with Holden and the players. There is defo a kickback from the “players”, I would call a lot of them lazy bastards, in trying to stop NP taking over as manager. Pivotal times for this club IMO.
