  2. Talk about iconic City defeats usually brings up Wolves, Cardiff, Ipswich, Hull, but for me that 2nd leg was up there with the very worst experiences. Fortunately, as far as Mehew is concerned I have an alternative memory. I was at a quiz night at Eastville and Mehew was in a Rovers players team, asked who won the European Chamionships in 1960, he answered Brazil!

  3. Problems with the videolink - apparently suddenly Stendel’s image vanished from the screen and Babestation came on instead.

  4. Ok, so sorting the wheat from the chaff. Are you basically saying the Derby County are innocent or not? Are you saying that the club should not face any sanction of any kind? When I look at sorting the wheat from the chaff i.e. stripping away all the flannel then the club should face sanctions at least similar to Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City. My guess is though that due to the amount of smoke and mirrors deployed during this horrible mucky affair that the club will escape sanctions. Then it will be another nail in the coffin of the integrity (if any still exists) of the EFL and football in general. No deterrent means that murky Mel and people / clubs like him will continue to at best bend the rules and at worst show contempt and blatant disregard for the rules.

  8. Astonishing Lansdown meltdown / Playing the victims from user 'gulfofaden' on GasChat Akin to terrorism mind! Lansdown hasn’t just been a benefactor to city, which he is entitled to do, but he’s also been antagonistic to Rovers on any occasion he can to win favour with his fan base including the Matt Taylor saga which given the fact we got the exact release fee (which was supposed to be confidential) is akin to terrorism in football terms. He’s also putting posters on the Glocs road, getting his sponsors to ridicule us through postal campaigns and trying very hard to get a club who for much of his life was a giant firm of bedminster hooligans who regularly smashed up our ground and attacked and threatened our players pegged as some “family club”. They have some normal fans of course but also a giant contingent on cocaine and cider addled specimens which dwarf, and have always dwarfed, ours, even pro rata. You think he couldn’t see all that victimisation and violence in the 80s and 90s? Was he blind? Of course he wasn’t my. That’s fine, he can still bankroll the club but to do so, and still pander to those guys and continually harrass and target us knowing full well the asymmetric history between us, is beneath contempt. It wasn’t 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. It was grown men targeting families and players in their own homes. If he had adopted the attitude of “City is my club, Good luck to Rovers but I hope we are always above them” then I would have all the time in the world for him. He didn’t, he, like a playground bully, has been sadistic and provocative in swinging his weight around, to a club he knows can’t really fight back. And the reason for this? The heinous crime which caused this ire? We used to beat them a lot, before. When we were in dire straights and on paper we shouldn’t have. That’s it. That’s what all this is about. https://gaschat.co.uk/thread/18097/bristol-owner-steve-lansdown-writes?page=2

  9. I'm sure Derby will get whats coming to them. The club is in a downward spiral anyhow with one owner who does not want to be there and no one coming to the rescue. The EFL will get them sooner or later, if they are proven to be guilty. And yes The EFL are mostly to blame. The regs have loopholes and they seem slow to react. I believe currently they are more geared towards saving clubs rather than compliance.

  11. The Falcon Steakhouse in Wotton-under-Edge. Opened again 3 weeks ago as they don’t have outdoor seating. Superb local steak, the best double-cooked chips you’ll ever have and a salivating cheesecake for dessert. I’m booked in on Friday. https://www.falconsteakhouse.com

  19. Still on the Ollie Robinson story, this is a very good article by our friend, George Dobell. Quite long, but I recommend reading it should you have a spare 5 minutes (depending on how fast you read). https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ollie-robinson-controversy-amnesty-may-offer-solution-as-english-cricket-catches-up-with-society-s-shifting-values-1265598

  21. Even as a neutral you would question just how many more chances is he going to get. Hes been given chance after chance after chance and he's still a thug. It's not a first offence and he has had previous jail time, in my eyes there is a real chance that if found guilty he's going to be jailed and it won't be a suspended sentence.

  24. Rovers fans always patting themselves on the back. We’re brilliant we’re superior to the shitheads were the family club. Then they are all tripping over themselves to back a person who has a lot of previous when it comes to assaulting people. They are such a desperate little club with a little fan base . Bristol Rovers and Joey Barton are made for each other. **** um

  26. One thing is for sure, peoples opinions change and life experiences will influence them over years of exposure. I am sure many of us of a certain age, and I include myself, are very happy there was no social media in the 70's and 80's when we were young, impressionable and surrounded by racism and sexism, with little or nothing to balance it out.

  27. Its standard policy that someone is suspended while waiting the outcome of a review, how is it ott? The fact that Boris has got involved in a debate over racist and sexist comments saying the ECB has gone too far is laughable given his history

  28. Just starting to get back into this after got injured early January. Taken about 3 months to get back to half marathon which I did in 1 hour 54 on Monday. On New Years Day I did my best of 1 hour 47 so still a way to go but amazed by how long it took me to get back to even anywhere close. 6 weeks out made a hug difference - starting to see why it takes so long for footballers to get back to speed after an injury.

  29. You may not immediately recognise the name Bobby Humphries, but EVERY ONE of the 21,808 supporters that was at St. Andrews for our fixture with Birmingham City back in August will certainly remember his smiling little face. To remind everyone of the sad events, at just two years old Bobby was diagnosed with a brain tumour! As a result he spent the next three and a half years receiving chemotherapy to battle his illness, with his last chemo being just before we visited Birmingham earlier in the season. For those in the away end that afternoon will remember that really emotional moment when Bobby was introduced to the crowd just to the right of the away end, the little lads bravery and smiling face really made an impression on everyone there that day. There was talk at the time that it would be a great gesture if he could be involved in some way when Birmingham came to Ashton Gate. Well, Thursday Bobby gets his latest scan results and I'm sure we all hope for the best possible outcome and will be keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome. Bristol City have been liaising with both Birmingham City and Bobby's family and as a result invited Bobby to be the Birmingham City mascot Friday night and to lead the bluenoses onto the pitch. There's only one Bobby Humphries!
