  2. One belter on their forum is questioning why it's been arranged for a Friday, the day before a match. Not sure he has worked out where the legal system and a game of football sit in the hierarchy of importance. I can't see the judge poring over a fixture list to see when best suits Bristol Rovers.

  3. As a person who struggles with my mental health on a daily basis, I have taken upon myself to get out more and go for walks etc. I have recently been hooked on watching wild camping videos on YouTube and it has inspired me to do the same. It really has lifted my spirits This Friday I will be doing my first solo wild camp on dartmoor. Hopefully the peace and quiet and the lovely views will be great for the mind. Hope you're all good out there

  4. So they have taken a member of their board, who was previously Head of recruitment and director of football, and given him a role similar to that of Tins, where amongst their duties they will oversee the loan of developing players... Now, Tins does a fantastic job, made all the more challenging by the huge number of players we have developed meaning his work provides first team opportunities, players who might struggle to make it at their stage of their career to make their mark in the Championship, but the league experience still gives them a chance of a league career. What is their loans manager going to do from a basement club? Send players off to the park and see if anyone fancies a kick about. Tinpot.

  5. WTF is refreshed tarmac? Have they given it a wash a brush up or something ? Really grasping at straws.

  6. Here is the quote from the horse's mouth replying to the statement "Joey Barton's new trial will take place on Friday, November 26. " Joke. How is it sensible to rearrange for the day before a game? I notice it just states the Friday and there's no mention of the number of days. Does this mean they now think it will be wrapped up quickly? Yeah, they'll probably just skip all the boring 'evidence' and 'cross-examination' nonsense and go straight to the 'asking the jury wevver he done it or not" bit and have it wrapped up before lunch.

  8. Have a great trip but don't take your Black Mountains map instead of the Dartmoor one like I once did! Oh, forgot about all the modern gizzmos these days. When asked what I enjoy most about walking Dartmoor I always reply " the helicopter ride home". Have a great trip but don't take your Black Mountains map instead of the Dartmoor one like I once did! 10. In league 2 (we were in league 2, so no change there then) Training ground (we didn’t have one then) The Mem is still the Mem, but we have two extra tents, refreshed tarmac behind the Thatchers, and we have two new stands, even if they’re tents. We’ve not become Man City over night but things aren’t any worse than in February 2016. Not much better, granted, but there has been progress.

  11. I certainly hope so about Derby. They seem to have winged it for too long. I mean, it's an interesting one. The loopholes aren't exactly plentiful but there are some and they are quite useful loopholes- the Fixed Asset one a prime example. However the EFL have a right under use of Future Financial Info etc to set more stringent conditions if said loopholes used IMO. It is worth noting that Derby and especially Sheffield Wednesday didn't unilaterally sell ground first then tell EFL, they certainly both approached the EFL first. Of course, UEFA exclude Profit on Disposal of Stadiums and possibly Training Grounds too. Future Financial Information if applied correctly means that the EFL can project not only the recent past, the present but into the future within the P&S period. I'll take Aston Villa as an example. By common consensus, the P&S losses in 2016/17 and 2017/18 were £3m and £21m respectively. Therefore there would be a cap of £15m for 2018/19 in order to remain compliant and this was technically adhered to after Loophole 1 and the good fortune of the HS2 compensation. That is T-2 (2016/17) and T-1 (2017/18), the existing season would be T. However the use of the Future Financial Information in respect of monitoring and compliance, and you can say it for a lot of Clubs tbh, but for this specific example would mean the EFL taking the Projected Loss for 2018/19 and 2017/18 and saying "This will be £x- therefore with £21m in 2017/18 and £x in 2018/19, it needs to be £y in 2019/20". By my calcs, had promotion been missed there would have been- just to stand still- a P&S hole to fill of something between £60-75m upcoming in 2019/20. These regulations enable the EFL to look a year, let alone 2 years ahead and say "how do you propose to remain compliant not only this season but the next year, or even 2- how do you keep that cycle compliant". They singularly failed to do this in Summer 2018, with one exception- which is Birmingham City! What should be happening is that the EFL should be limiting to some extent, expenditure in the present in order to make sure that the hole a year, perhaps 2 years down the line isn't at ridiculous levels. That's an important aspect of ongoing monitoring! Slow to react? Not in Birmingham's case, Accounts ran until June 30th, charge came through 2nd or 3rd August! Sheffield Wednesday however, there was a great faffing about due to- well God knows why, but once the Stadium had verifiably not been sold by the end of July 2018, it should have proceeded within a few weeks onto charges there and then. With accompanying restrictions and the like. Certainly might have been the case in Summer 2018, especially with your situation- have to wonder if that was a factor in respect of giving new owners some grace as a result. Shaun Harvey was very proud of his record of no clubs going into administration during his time at the EFL, before things came crashing down in his final season! Allowing Messrs Dale and Anderson to take over, and possibly turning a bit of a blind eye to wage issues at Macclesfield possibly helped to produce this artificial result, just 3 examples! However it's hard to say where things are at now...there are a compliant majority of clubs and there will expect appropriate actions to be taken against those who are not. Reading for a start look highly likely to be over, Stoke maybe or failing that, suitable for soft sanctions, Blackburn maybe suitable for soft sanctions. Oh yeah. EFL should have shut that loophole 2 years ago. Better still had it not been opened up in the first place!

  12. Just reading about the 6 year old who has just finished his chemo in his fight against a brain tumour. Brum fans applauding the Robin's fans for their superb reaction to him walking round the pitch. Someone suggested making him a guest of honour on the return leg which is on Friday 7th Feb.. Great idea. Still remembering young Lowery, Defoes friend who left us not to long ago. COYRs.

  16. Firstly, I am a Somerset fan through and through - dating as far back as Bath and WSM festival weeks: does anybody on here remember walking up from the 'beach' to spend a lazy afternoon watching Fred Rumsey or even Bill Alley? I understand the piss-taking of young James Bracey, but bear in mind he is a young man and, I would imagine, extremely embarrassed at his batting performances in his first two Tests. Give the lad a break and just hope that he scores well in the second innings, but is out for a duck when he next plays against Somerset and drops a few catches/misses a few easy stumpings.

  17. I am happy to put on record that I believe every word of what the club are saying in their press releases in respect of the disciplinary action. I just think that they are misleading, open to interpretation and very, very well crafted. I completely agree with the club that in the strictest and narrowest possible sense (and ignoring any penalty for non-compliance) the only possible outcome of the EFL winning the appeal is that Derby will have to resubmit the relevant P&S computations. That is obvious. What is completely missing is the next step. What happens when those P&S computations are resubmitted? I have always fully accepted that you might be right, but if I was a Derby Fan I would be concerned that the club have not stated that they meet the P&S loss rules for all years. It's a simple sentence to add to the press releases, and quick to craft.

  25. I wonder if said belter realises that Barton is likely to be in court for at least a few days. Not just an "inconvenient" Friday before a game. I wonder if said belter realises that IF he is found guilty and IF he is given a custodial sentence he won't be picking a team, working on tactics, or taking training from HMP where-ever on a Friday (or any other day for that matter!) I fully exepect most of their in-bred morons to blame-shift like crazy if he is convicted (it is what they do!). In their deluded eyes it will be the fault of the governement, the criminal Justice system, the EFL, us "Gurt Teds", Steve Lansdown, Bristol Post, Barnsley, Wycombe Wanderers and anyone else not actually connected with the case. It definitely won't be the fault of their current manager, or anyone to do with Rovers even though their club has employed someone currently awaiting trial for such an offence.

  33. I did see that, looked like a total failure of the tyre. Well Red Bull stated they had absolutely no warning from the data before Verstappens let go, as you say wonder how many others may have failed if the race was a few laps longer. Reminded me of Silverstone a few years back!

  43. I think that there are a few clarifications needed. Firstly as regards other clubs and lawyers you won't see any court action. Part of signing up to the EFL is that you agree to exclusively use Arbitration with no recourse to the courts. Secondly it is not the EFL which punishes clubs, but the Independent Disciplinary Commission. That has to meet, listen to the evidence and then agree on a punishment. That punishment is the subject to appeal by either party. Thirdly the added complication in Derby's case is that two charges of breaches of the FFP rules were found proven, one (misleading) by default as Derby admitted it and the second (incorrect amortisation) by the League Appeal Panel. But they were not charged with a breach of the loss limits as a result, as simply put the EFL didn't know. If Derby are now in a breach of the loss limits then they might needed to be charged again, and then the process starts again. I doubt that there will be a final resolution until much later in the year. The EFL certainly could have handled matters better and more effectively, but they did actually pin two proven charges on Derby against fierce resistance. I'm not sure the delay is going to save Derby for anything more than one season. It would appear that they are still under a transfer embargo, possibly a hard one by now. That with a potential significant points deduction in the upcoming season is going to make their life very difficult.

  45. Thanks for that. My turn now. In hospital today to have scans etc. Having my right knee replaced in September and then my left knee next March (2022). I really cannot wait to get it done. To celebrate we have tentatively booked a world cruise for Jan 2023. Something to work towards and look forward to.

  46. @Batman - hopefully the sleeping tablets will gradually regulate your body into normal sleeping habits again. Don't add to your stress at the moment by worrying about how long you will need them for. It's amazing how a much loved spouse/partner can change in such a short space of time. I experienced the same with my ex, I've since found out that he lied on the financial declaration when we divorced, as he was actually buying the property he lived in, which he said was rented. We'd lost our marital home when his business failed - I was stupid enough to sign it over to guarantee a business loan. When he left we were living in a privately rented house, and I moved in with my parents, so that I could save a deposit to get back on the property ladder. I never wanted my son to be homeless again - the ex tried to have his child support payments reduced, as my outgoings were reduced due to living with parents! At the point of divorce, he'd built a considerable amount of equity in his new property, as he'd been in a position financially to buy when the property market bottomed out. I would never have believed it possible that he could behave like this after 18 happy years together. I try to get solace from the fact that everything I've achieved since has been done off my own back, and I have a fantastic relationship with my son, who appreciates the fact that I went without things in order to get us where we are today. I hope that your wife sticks to what she has said, and the divorce can come to an amiable conclusion. If she is using a solicitor, I fear that they may push her to get what she can - hope that I'm wrong on that one.

  48. You may not immediately recognise the name Bobby Humphries, but EVERY ONE of the 21,808 supporters that was at St. Andrews for our fixture with Birmingham City back in August will certainly remember his smiling little face. To remind everyone of the sad events, at just two years old Bobby was diagnosed with a brain tumour! As a result he spent the next three and a half years receiving chemotherapy to battle his illness, with his last chemo being just before we visited Birmingham earlier in the season. For those in the away end that afternoon will remember that really emotional moment when Bobby was introduced to the crowd just to the right of the away end, the little lads bravery and smiling face really made an impression on everyone there that day. There was talk at the time that it would be a great gesture if he could be involved in some way when Birmingham came to Ashton Gate. Well, Thursday Bobby gets his latest scan results and I'm sure we all hope for the best possible outcome and will be keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome. Bristol City have been liaising with both Birmingham City and Bobby's family and as a result invited Bobby to be the Birmingham City mascot Friday night and to lead the bluenoses onto the pitch. There's only one Bobby Humphries!
