  1. You've made an absolute prat out of yourself here mate.

  2. I appreciate your contributions on this board and I don't want to be harsh, but here's a well-intentioned tip. When talking about things you don't know about - like vaccines and medicine generally - do plenty of informed background reading from sources that have put in the hard yards of research in those subjects, and can be considered "expert". I am neither a vaccinologist, nor do I possess any sort of medical degree: However, I know from intensive reading on the subject that there is no way being injected with a few microns of matter to trigger an immune system response can possibly affect your fertility. That just isn't how it works. If it was, your fertility would decline every time you caught a cold, or had hay fever, or scratched your skin. Every medicine has side effects. Open up a packet of paracetamol these days and you'll get a fold-out leaflet listing common, less-common, rare and incredibly rare, side effects. In paracetamol this can, in very rare cases, include death. This is to be expected - there are people who will die if they eat a strawberry, whereas most of us love them. The very fact that about 3 billion doses of Covid vaccine has been given around the world, should reassure you that "lots" of people aren't going to die or be seriously harmed from it. 3 billion is a f- of a lot and if even one in 100,000 doses caused death, folk would be dropping like flies. They haven't. We injected tens of thousands last spring/summer and ramped that up to millions starting 8 months ago. If there was something the massed ranks of scientists and statistical researchers had missed in trials, it would have become obvious by now. We've had inoculations for a millennia, injectable vaccines for centuries and have used similar technologies to these jabs for decades. The active agent that promotes the immune response is excreted by the body in hours. The immune response builds over three weeks, then fades. In months, all you have is a memory stored in your bloodstream of the pathogen; just like your body stores the memory of umpteen other things it doesn't require. This is why if a vaccine is going to make you ill, it will do so straight away. Any malign affects will have happened in that three weeks where the immune "charge" builds. A vaccine can no more make you ill 6 months after you've had it, than an off pint you drank in 2019 can make you have the squits today. I know this from reading what medics, scientists, virologists, haematologists etc have found. Proper peer-reviewed science. So my second tip, is distinguish between sources. It's likely that tens of thousands of medical researchers know more than the former Coventry City goalie. If there are "voices from the wilderness who disagree with the consensus" there is a reason they are in the "wilderness". Usually, because they have no in-depth knowledge of what they're talking about. Often because their income derives from grifting

  3. @Riaz I was born in 1943 so could have had a bomb land on my bed until 1945. Just after the war, children were dying of several horrible diseases. I spent two weeks in hospital with measles and a further three weeks in convalecence at Clevedon. Just after a vaccine was introduced. Do we hear much about measles now? Also polio, Mumps, Whooping cough, TB, smallpox and maybe a couple more that I cannot remember. All vaccines have a risk of one death in a very large number. But all of these medical advances turned the average anticipated life span for most "Western" children in the rich and developed countries from around 35 years in the mid 1800's to over 70 by mid 1970's. There is not any guarantee that you reach that age but we all have a much better chance of a life not ridden with illness and early deaths. Hence the big increase in human population numbers in the last forty/fifty years. There is a downside though. I first watched City in April 1950 and got instantly hooked. So if I had died earlier in my life, I would not have had to suffer seven relegations and a helluva lot of crap seasons like the one just passed!

  4. Vaccination is clearly part of the solution as it has been in medicine for decades already. Nothing is being "enforced" regarding anyone not taking the vaccine, it's the individual's choice. From speaking with a GP friend, the issue isn't "anti-vaxxers" or people unwilling to take the jab anyway. They make up such a tiny minority of the population that we will reach herd immunity without them. All I will say is, good job the majority have stepped up, otherwise we'd be in a permanent state of lockdowns and restrictions - and properly enforced ones too.

  6. Sorry to do this in the football chat but these type of uneducated views need to be challenged. It's dangerous and it's stopping us from getting back to normal! First quote. That is people who have died AND have had the vaccine, not because. Correlation does not equal causation. Unfortunately, the people who had the vaccine first were the oldest and most vulnerable in society so as you pointed out with your very sympathetic "unhealthy" claim, they weren't in the best health and covid likely was the least of their concerns. This doesn't contradict my previous point, because these people still had every right to be protected from Covid. Second quote. This again is a list of symptoms people have had AND had the vaccine. Included in those symptoms are things such as suicide, abortion, pregnancy and even STIs. I'm sure you agree the vaccine didn't cause abortion or suicide? It's just things that have happened and coincidentally that person had the vaccine, because a large proportion of the population have had a jab. It does NOT mean that the vaccine caused those conditions. Third quote. 28 days reporting was used on Covid deaths because on average 88% of deaths occured within 28 days and 96% (i think) within 60 days. (was also used to bring the UK inline with other countries reporting metrics) Using that same figure for vaccines has zero relevance. It's a reporting measure that was able to capture deaths on a daily basis and provide an update. If you wait for the death certificate it could take weeks or longer. It is evident by the fact that deaths have plummeted that we do not have hundreds of people dying from other causes being put down as Covid, particularly as we have so many cases right now. If anything, more cases were missed because of this 28 day reporting. Take a look at the dashboard, deaths that include covid on the death certificate are significantly higher than the 28 day reporting figure - and excess deaths back this up.

  7. Because their opinion is based on scientific evidence and yours isn't. If they said they believed grass is green because of chlorophyll and you said you believe it's green for a different reason, their opinion is more important (or at least should be given more weight - maybe importance is the wrong word) because it is backed by science.

  8. You must be the worst socialist ever. Thought you were all about helping all of society out, especially the most vulnerable? That's why I got the jab. I wasn't "scared" into it like you suggested. In fact I'd already had covid by the time I'd had the jab! I just wanted to protect the most vulnerable in society. You're clearly petrified of getting a bit of water, salt and sugar, and a few chemicals no worse than you'd find in processed food and a few beers, injected into your body. That's fine, but I will remember this next time you start preaching about social inequality and looking after the vulnerable... it's amazing how often people of your political persuasion don't practice what they preach, seen it time and time again.

  10. I phoned Heart FM today, to enter their mystery prize competition. The presenter answered and said “Congratulations on being our first caller, all you need to do is answer the following question correctly, to win our Mystery Grand Star Prize!” "That Fantastic!" I called out in delight. "Feel Confident?" The presenter asked, "It's a Maths Question." "Well, I've got a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University," I proudly replied, "and I've taught maths to A level students for the last 20 years.” "Ok then, to win our grand prize of 2 VIP tickets to a Bristol Rovers game and to meet the players after the game, what is 2+2 ?" "7", I replied.

  14. I don't think this is about opinions, its about decisions and actions (although clearly there's a link). I'm aware that there are risks associated with the vaccine. I certainly don't believe in it 100%. I don't really like the idea of passports more generally, my opinion is we shouldn't have to have them, but I choose to have one. Just as people choose to drive on the left, wear helmets on a motorbike etc. So, to answer your question: 1. Because I've done what society has asked me to do in order to help us collectively overcome this pandemic, and you haven't. 2. Because if I'm wrong then you're no worse off. If you're wrong you could kill or seriously disable me.

  17. Covid has changed the world. Feel free not to take the vaccine, but you wont be able to go anywhere / do anything. Prepare yourself for a very boring existence all because you are misinformed. That's on you, not the govt, not corrupt scientists - that's all on you.

  19. Why do i trust him and not mainstream scientists. Cos i know scientists, can be corrupted or have their careers destroyed if they speak the truth. This guy is putting his career on the line to say this - he has nothing to gain and a lot to lose. Not a fan of David Icke, BUT a lot of predictions he has made, have come to pass!

  20. I can fully understand that perspective. My friend broke his leg playing football, wasn't given the right medication after and suffered a blood clot and now can't play football again because it screwed his lungs up. I wouldn't go and tell people not to have an operation though. Another friends sister has suffered a blood clot after the vaccine. It's very sad that happened but it's statistically so rare. You are entitled to not take the vaccine, you are entitled to tell people your story and let them make their own decision. You shouldn't though manipulate data to suit your narrative and try and co-erce people into not taking the vaccine. You say " I havent been scared into taking the vaccine" - no you've been scared into not taking it by false information. I'm only so passionate about this because I am desperate to get back to normality. That doesn't happen if we don't get the population (world, not just us) vaccinated so as for third world countries which you mentioned, i've said all along I want to see us doing all we can to share our supplies. Everyone deserves the same opportunity to receive the jab.

  21. What, because i haven’t been scared into having a vaccine i don’t need? And most of us don’t need. I think for myself and don’t trust the government and elites. Why would i. Most the time they try and **** us over. Many parts of the world don’t have running water or other basic needs. I bet these people that care so much, make sure they have the vaccine tho!

  24. Of course they have. We know flu can kill, and have serious long term effects, and it circulates widely every Winter, including at AG. All we can do is get innoculated if we feel at extra risk, but as with Covid that does not provide anything like full protection. We either accept there is always a risk in existing in daily life or we stop going to Ashton Gate, stop going to the pub, stop socialising altogether, and organise our lives so as to come into contact with as few people as possible. Some people seem content with the prospect of repetitive lockdowns and endless restrictions, but that is not only economically impractical, it is for many people psychologically catastrophic.

  30. Actually we have a number of ways we count them. Excess deaths (up around 85k in 2020 alone), deaths within 27 days of a positive test (about 130k), and deaths with covid on the death certificate (around 150k). There's also the issue of your argument being: - I don't trust the government! - But here's some government data and data from the yellow card scheme to back up what I said - But don't look at the rest of the government data, or the rest of the yellow card scheme, I don't trust that again (because it doesn't agree with my very specific viewpoint) It's completely logically inconsistent

  32. I can’t find the figures for Covid deaths for healthy people under 60, but last time i checked it was under 1000. Deaths from vaccine 1470 and counting. Covid has been here’s for 16 months and most people have only just been vaccinated

  36. Rushed. They didn’t do it for longer than a year, so have no idea of long term affects. I’m saying, those high risk, should probably get the vaccine. But the rest of us, ESPECIALLY our children, shouldn’t be forced to take the risk
    2 points
  37. Brilliant free thinking again, did you miss this bit during your no doubt extensive research? "The nature of Yellow Card reporting means that reported events are not always proven side effects. Some events may have happened anyway, regardless of vaccination. This is particularly the case when millions of people are vaccinated, and especially when most vaccines are being given to the most elderly people and people who have underlying illness." "It is important to note that Yellow Card data cannot be used to derive side effect rates or compare the safety profile of COVID-19 vaccinations as many factors can influence ADR reporting." "It is very important to note that a Yellow Card report does not necessarily mean the vaccine caused that reaction or event." How about this bit from the exact same scheme you're linking? "Vaccines are the best way to protect people from COVID-19 and have already saved thousands of lives. Everyone should continue to get their vaccination when asked to do so unless specifically advised otherwise." Or is all that stuff not trustworthy, but the bit you linked is?
    2 points
  38. So the bit where it says ‘these deaths aren’t necessarily caused by the vaccine’….did you miss that bit out? And the bit that says by chance some people will experience a new illness?
    2 points
  39. Plenty of scientists out there, that disagree with this vaccine. And there are also scientists who disagree with vaccinating the whole population, because that has negative consequences. Then you have the fact that it was rushed. No idea about long term affects. And then i have my suspicions, based on the fact, for the first time in history we are vaccinating the whole population for something that IS NOT deadly to healthy people. In this country, more people have now died from the vaccine, than healthy people have died from covid. I also tend to react to stuff - i had antibiotics in 2017 to treat pneumonia and they ****** my kidneys for life. So i am wary of sticking things in my body. Your choice is to trust it and i respect that. Please respect my choice.

  40. Like I said, I don't have all the answers. I just know that August - while we have an ongoing global pandemic, peak case numbers here, barely half the population vaccinated - isn't going to be "normal" as we knew it - and I'd hope it's not going to be 'normal' going forward. There seem to be two potential scenarios: either it goes away in a year or so, which would mean we go back to the normal we knew, but seems unlikely. Or we have to "live with it" but that will mean a new 'normal'. I don't agree with those who see this as just being like flu. People don't get "long flu", people don't suffer long term organ damage as a result of flu, people in their mid 20s don't have strokes as a result of flu (BBC News this morning). I don't think anyone knows what that new normal might like look like. But it's quite conceivable that it could include incentivisation to get vaccinated/restrictions if not. The 'some people cant have it' is a complete red herring: that's the case with a great many of the things we take for granted and there will be ways of managing that. As I say, I don't know what it looks like. But I honestly don't think you can pretend that going back to Ashton Gate for the Blackpool game will be just like going to the first home game in August 2019.

  41. I think you missed the point from the LAP decision that it appeared that the club had misled the auditors too ....

  42. I don’t know what all the answers are. I was just trying to make the point that it’s nonsense to talk about “going back to normal” when we are in the middle of a global pandemic. We all want ‘normal’ back, but it’s not going to happen in August. Yes, banning the unvaccinated from doing anything is one extreme of the potential responses. But just carrying on and trying to pretend it’s not happening is just as extreme the other way.
    2 points
  43. There will be many, many double jabbed people with the virus carrying it around with them and passing it on - and I expect multiple double jabbed people in Ashton Gate carrying it. At what point are you going to say to yourself "I have done everything I possibly can for myself so have to get on with it"? If you think you are never going to say that, then prepare yourself for avoiding pretty much everywhere where there are people present, as this virus isn't going away. After September I doubt there will be many more people taking up the offer of having the vaccine if they haven't already, so that really has to be the end of any restrictions, unless you want to ban unvaccinated people (many who cannot have it) from everything that you do.

  44. Normal??? With Bristol’s infection rate, the Blackpool game could see dozens of people get ill as a result of going to the game, a number of them ending up in hospital, as well as hundreds getting pinged, many of whom will be unable to go to work as a result. And all having to miss the next game(s). That doesn’t sound like ‘normal’ to me.

It’s the whole track, not just the chorus. ”E created the vibe, E takes you for a ride and as if by design, the party ignites like it’s coming to life..” etc I think the BBC cottoned on to it in the end but not before it reached number 1. Im pretty sure it hit the top of the charts in some ‘national drug awareness week’ as well, but I could be wrong. What I do know for a fact is that the Gas are shit and have very few fans.

From Garner's time in Bristol I am sure he will be aware of the talent we have at youth level so I think it would be a smart move for him to give Tinnon a bell.
