  1. My stance is that you're a bit of a knob to quote a post about domestic violence in order that that you can ask such an infantile question.

  2. Please stop it! ? “Good name” ?

  3. In my opinion (former criminal lawyer) 1) & 2) won't happen, largely becuase it would send an awful message to those who may wish to raise a domestic violence complaint in future. As for 1), I guess there could be a witness summons for her attendance (not even sure the judge/mags would go for that, nor whether the CPS would even ask for one), but if she then appears at court, and takes the stand, the prosecution would have to treat her as a hostile witness and cross examine her on any original statement (is there even one?); as you can imagine, cross-examining your own witness is not a good look, and in the absence of independent evidence, is a tough ask for the prosecutor. Regards 2), there is a potential for it to happen, but would have to be an extreme case (think serious sexual offence allegations). So we are left with the 999 call, and bodycam (likely only showing any aftermath)...potential for a bad character application perhaps (although hard for me to say without reviewing the file). Unless I am missing something, this case will be incredibly difficult to secure a conviction on, if it even gets that far and the CPS do offer evidence. The prosecutor on the day will have their work cut out, and will not have been the one who made the decision to charge/progress with the matter. I know there are good policy reasons why domestic abuse convictions should be pursued in the absence of the complainant's support, but that doesn't make it any easier for the lawyer on the day.

  5. You are just full of nonsense I’m afraid. People have tried to engage with you in an adult conversation but time and again you either can’t prove or even back up to any extent your argument, write childish responses (see new items above) or just write rubbish which is immediately disproved to which you then get upset and or defensive about. This is a common theme across most anti vaxxer contributions I see across social media and in discussion threads. No one here is ‘shitting themselves behind the sofa’ just wanting to do what is right and proper based upon the facts available.

  6. Without Mrs B giving evidence, here’s my informed opinion of what might make up the prosecution case: 1. The 999 call - we can see from the article that Mrs B called the police and said JB has throttled then kicked her. 2. Upon police arrival they’ll have undoubtedly been wearing body worn video. It’ll be interesting to see at what point Mrs B retracted her accusation. Did she continue it to police upon their arrival? Did the two other people present tell the police what had happened and was this captured on body worn video? 3. the injury. Said to be a half golf ball sized lump. 4. previous incidents between the two parties whether prosecuted or not. 5. bad character. Now, we know JB likes the odd assault, but in order to be used as evidence is has to be pretty strikingly similar. You can’t just tell a judge - he’s got convictions for assault - there are proper and quite tough hoops to jump through to allow bad character to be allowed in a trial. 6. CCTV - as someone mentioned above - this took place outside. There might be Cctv. all in all, cps only charge people if they think there’s a realistic prospect of conviction. So there’s definitely evidence here. Injury plus initial complaint is a good start - I wonder what else there might be… I wonder what JB’s behaviour was like when those officers and their body worn video turned up?! it’ll be interesting that’s for sure.

  7. The other sad thing is many put up with it because they feel they couldn't cope financially, by splitting up. Witnessed this myself with a former girlfriend's Dad, who beat his wife.

  8. well big p and not sure what P stands for. Mate if you have had two jabs and yes you can still catch this infection. However it prevents you from kicking the bucket and this is good for your family and friends is it not? A covert passport makes sure that you and your mates watching a football match at Ashton Gate gives you the mind set that you have done the right thing. The passport mate is what is going to happen going forward as this disease is not going away.

  9. I read it as its a victimless crime as in the wife who was allegedly assaulted won't give evidence or if she did give a statement may withdraw it. So the police and CPS will report it and try to gain a conviction in spite of the 'victim'

  11. Because people have differing opinions, what a weird bunch of people are in this group...Will we be proven right probably, maybe not. But one thing is certain people like you will be sitting in front of the BBC news waiting for the daily case count( which is completely odd to me) believing all the bullshit they spill to you. Unable in any capacity to question anything the media/government tells you.. Sit down dont wear a mask, stand up you wear it, yes sir... lots of us who are questioning the narrative have been living safe and happy lives, whereas some people are still sh*ting themselves behind the sofa...

  12. big P your logic is spot on, fear and paranoia blinds reason and logic. The media has turned its back on facts which is not a one way traffic. With respect to you, you’re at a lost cause for those who don’t want see or hear, but good luck if you can wake their awareness

  15. Out of interest... What was your stance when it became apparent, beyond any reasonable doubt, that Darrell wanked off dogs as a pass time..? Was that OK, because no harm was done, or did you feel that was a tad inappropriate..?

  18. You would think that Social Services would be making a visit to the Barton's to find out where the "children" were during this incident and, given that Mr Barton is either going to be found to be a wife beater or Mrs Barton a liar who phones the Police with greatly exaggerated accounts causing her husband to defend himself in court, whether there potentially is any degree of future harm that could affect them. This sort of stuff gets children living on Council Estates or in Suburbs put on "At Risk Registers" so living in Kew shouldn't make any difference?

  19. What is possibly even more baffling, is that surely its a great opportunity for them to even just pretend to take the morale high ground and call for his head - not because they condem his (alleged) actions, but because he's been worse than dire as their manager..! Yet they actually seem to rate the bloke..! He doesn't even stack up well against Ben Garner FFS..!

  20. All I will say is if my missus phoned the Police during a party and told them I kicked her in the head and that was a completely fabricated story because she just wanted to get at me for some reason or simply because she was pissed out of her mind then she wouldn't be my missus for very long........and I certainly would not be living with her by the time my first Court appearance came along. The poster yesterday who gave us the plausible story outlining how it could all have been a crazy mistake (I'm completely guessing he is a Solicitor who has experience of these scenario's) would probably have been better off ignoring the thread.............. @PHILINFRANCEthe Police and CPS are of the opinion (that's all it is right now but presumably they believe they have the evidence to nail Barton) that JB KICKED HIS WIFE IN THE HEAD.......where I come from that's called wife beating, I know you were questioning my semantics yesterday but that's what it is to any sane person.

  21. It still amazes me that people think they are that important that the government wants to track them.?
    3 points
  22. Personally I've renewed my season ticket and have had two jabs, but in the current circumstances and the crazy Covid numbers in Bristol, I've no plans to go to any matches anytime soon. Mostly because I don't want to risk infecting my elderly disabled mum, or anyone else for that matter. If entry to football stadia does become conditional on showing a Covid passport, I might reconsider those risks though, especially if the numbers are falling at that stage.

  23. If governments wanted to track people, introducing vaccine passports is definitely the way to go. You can then see them for a short amount of time when they attend 1 or 2 events a week. If only there was another far more obvious way of tracking people all of the time, that most people already have in their pockets ?
    3 points
  24. Jeeze, What's the point of covid passport? To make sure only vaccinated people enter crowded areas to help the prevention of spread... But people are still catching it? Because vaccines don't stop the spread. So what's the point of covid passports?

  27. Getting rid of a present club employee convicted of an offence carried out whilst in the employment of the club would not be the same as hiring one who was convicted 5-6 years ago and with no apparent repeat of those offences since is it? If you don’t believe in second chances that’s fine but to put a narrative out there that they will do the right thing and we haven’t is bizarre quite honestly.

  32. Here's a clue, covid passport wasn't required to get into Wembley, a negative test was - which you can self-report a fake test. People went to Wembley sick, I'm almost certain of that (in part because I know at least one person who did). Plus, no one ever said you couldn't catch covid if you've had both jabs, it just reduces the impact to you and your transmission.

  38. This is bigger than City, I will never give anyone my medical details to any business , never! And to allow this will set damaging precedent for the future.... I've seen scary comments suggesting "it's only a barcode", it's not! How many people know that the government has been selling your NHS , medical records to pharma and other corporations for years? In the future you and your children/grandchildrens medicall history will effect the ability to borrow money, jobs etc... How do I know? Well for the past four years I have been working on a project which will help combat this..

  39. Of course they won't, no matter what timescale you put on it they'll say its not been long enough. How long do you need to wait to see if fertility rates drop? By then he'll be on to the next conspiracy. @Riaz says he's "not been scared into taking the vaccine" but can't see that's he's been scared into not taking it. Which is worse?

  40. Yes and a very enjoyable day it was too. Always exciting to see a sporting team with a mixture of experience and youth, in Hildreth we had probably one of the top 3 most experienced players on the circuit, 2 making their Somerset debuts and 3 making their list A debuts. Sonny Baker looked a real talent, Aldridge too. The highlight was Hildreth bringing up his century by hitting a 6. Sadly though he already had a runner because of what looked like a pulled hamstring, after hitting the 6 he seemed to pull the other one and could barely celebrate. Hope it was just cramp. I notice that 40 years ago today I was at Lords watching Somerset beat Surrey to win the B & H cup, a great day and James Hildreth wasn’t even born……….I’ve really got to stop pretending I’m in my 30s because that’s made me feel old

  46. I appreciate your contributions on this board and I don't want to be harsh, but here's a well-intentioned tip. When talking about things you don't know about - like vaccines and medicine generally - do plenty of informed background reading from sources that have put in the hard yards of research in those subjects, and can be considered "expert". I am neither a vaccinologist, nor do I possess any sort of medical degree: However, I know from intensive reading on the subject that there is no way being injected with a few microns of matter to trigger an immune system response can possibly affect your fertility. That just isn't how it works. If it was, your fertility would decline every time you caught a cold, or had hay fever, or scratched your skin. Every medicine has side effects. Open up a packet of paracetamol these days and you'll get a fold-out leaflet listing common, less-common, rare and incredibly rare, side effects. In paracetamol this can, in very rare cases, include death. This is to be expected - there are people who will die if they eat a strawberry, whereas most of us love them. The very fact that about 3 billion doses of Covid vaccine has been given around the world, should reassure you that "lots" of people aren't going to die or be seriously harmed from it. 3 billion is a f- of a lot and if even one in 100,000 doses caused death, folk would be dropping like flies. They haven't. We injected tens of thousands last spring/summer and ramped that up to millions starting 8 months ago. If there was something the massed ranks of scientists and statistical researchers had missed in trials, it would have become obvious by now. We've had inoculations for a millennia, injectable vaccines for centuries and have used similar technologies to these jabs for decades. The active agent that promotes the immune response is excreted by the body in hours. The immune response builds over three weeks, then fades. In months, all you have is a memory stored in your bloodstream of the pathogen; just like your body stores the memory of umpteen other things it doesn't require. This is why if a vaccine is going to make you ill, it will do so straight away. Any malign affects will have happened in that three weeks where the immune "charge" builds. A vaccine can no more make you ill 6 months after you've had it, than an off pint you drank in 2019 can make you have the squits today. I know this from reading what medics, scientists, virologists, haematologists etc have found. Proper peer-reviewed science. So my second tip, is distinguish between sources. It's likely that tens of thousands of medical researchers know more than the former Coventry City goalie. If there are "voices from the wilderness who disagree with the consensus" there is a reason they are in the "wilderness". Usually, because they have no in-depth knowledge of what they're talking about. Often because their income derives from grifting
