From a purely footballing POV, do we really want him removed as he's already dragging their reputation even lower than a caterpillar's balls and is doing a fine job at being a bloody hopeless Manager? Just trying to lighten the mood and abhor violence, especially to the fairer sex. Like the vast majority of supporters of a certain age, I've been married for many, many, many years and it has never even crossed my mind to raise a hand to my dearly beloved / owner of half my house and pensions.7 points

Anyway back to matters on the pitch, a very decent effort for the Fourth Division club to hold the mighty Havant & Waterlooville to a goalless draw at fortress Mem last night. Looks like the player described by the Post as like “Jack Grealish” (I kid you not, I can’t actually remember his name, but he scored 10 for Forest Green last season) must have had an off day? Missing the tactical genius of Norman Stanley Barton, presumably?6 points

10 mins in they start slaughtering the gas! 'City are clearly the biggest club in Bristol, streets, streets ahead of rovers'.5 points

My pet caterpillar has asked me to inform you that he resents the comparison of R*vers plight with his gonads. He would prefer that you use the term 'Millipede's Manbag' from now on. Thanks.3 points

Cheers Marcus, of course rivalry is good and really makes for the atmosphere and having been to many City v Swindon games over the years that one game that I miss more than any and hope one day we get to play you at the redeveloped Ashton Gate which looks superb. Reading between the lines we came really close to collapsing last week and if the new owner had pulled out we were gone as Power had literally stoped making any payment serval wwwks previously and had tried to put into administration which was refused by the EFL. People in the know are saying he coul even go down with his other court cases looming. i love the home shirt but would have preferred the away shirt if it was white with a red pinstripe but up until last week we had no new kits and were looking at using last seasons without and sponsors name on the front. At the moment there is plenty of euphoria as we have our club back similar to how you guys would have felt in 19823 points

This is a very telling statement on the mentality of anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers and anti-passporters (I am not saying you personally are all of those!). There's no thought at all there of others. You can't even comprehend that people pro mask/vaccine/passport might not be doing things for themselves but out of consideration of others. Personally I have very little fear for myself. I'm double jabbed, reasonably healthy and young enough that covid shouldn't touch me. Bit none of that means I can't catch it and pass it on to somebody who could become very sick or even die. I'm not "cowering" as Sajid Javid would think, I am trying to protect other people. It's the exact same reasoning behind washing my hands after going to the toilet or covering my mouth/nose when I sneeze or cough.3 points

Did you know people have died this very year even though - and get this - they had their seatbelt on? Clear indication they don't work in my eyes and it's all a ploy by Big Seatbelt to enslave us all. What next, seatbelts on bikes? A seatbelt on every chair in the world? Am I going to be banned for sitting down now if the government gets their way? Ridiculous. It's just a slippery slope towards a totalitarian nightmare.3 points

Although a prosecution can be victimless, I don’t think you can have a non willing restraining order. It wouldn’t work because there’d be no applicant. At the time, Danny Simpson’s ex made a statement that the charity didn’t reach out to her to discuss the situation (I don’t know if she contacted them). It made me think that the charity weren’t interested in reconciliation and resolution of the situation, only retribution. They didn’t care about his child.2 points

I'm not totally happy with the idea of somebody losing their employment, or the opportunity of future employment - I would imagine it could exacerbate the issues they have. Also, would a milkman or Tesco delivery driver lose their job for the same offence? I think that footballers do have some "role model" status on the pitch, as kids who play football will try and copy what their heroes do. Off the field, parents and family should be the role models, and, anyway, I'm not sure the majority of kids would decide to commit a crime because a footballer has done so. Great to see fans of both teams donating money for the refuge appeal.2 points

I know it’s only Glamorgan but that’s a brilliant win from the 2nd Xl, some really good performances, the usual never give up attitude and calmness under pressure. The future is bright for the team, I just wish it was as bright for county cricket2 points

Absolutely not, keep him in place, then get rid at the most inconvenient time, maximizing damage (on and off the field). Hopefully, when they do get rid, they'll bungle it, resulting in a protracted lawsuit, ending with a huge legal bill and massive reputational damage. Other than that, I wish them the best of luck!2 points

65% accuracy for false negatives. 99% accuracy for false positives.2 points

They probably covered themselves against this in the small print... Something like.... "when our repeatedly convicted & accused thug of a manager next attacks someone, no refunds will be issued" "nor will any refund be available the next time anybody associated with BRFC violently attacks or interferes with any animal, be it domestic, equine or livestock - or should anybody be charged with groping women whilst they are out with their children" Disclaimer probably reads like... "you know who we are, what we're like and your lack of morals or good taste, does not entitle you to a refund when the inevitable may occur"2 points

Bit weird that. So why did they appoint Barton in the first place knowing he has two criminal convictions for violence?2 points

Why would anyone sign for a Manager that may well get the bullet in a few weeks time?1 point
-
Yup. It's why kids who tested positive via their bi-weekly LFT in schools had to confirm the diagnosis by booking a PCR.1 point
-
Yea that's what I mean, you do the LFT go to the site to report it and you tell the site whether it was negative or positive. Choose negative and you get your text / email. There's no way of concluding that you actually did a test so IMO proof of a negative test via LFT is pointless really. PCR would be better, but a bit more hassle plus the risk of taking 2 days to get results1 point

There is the odd Refuge and support group for men but the low numbers reflect the simple fact that there are less Women on Men and Men on Men DV incidents than Men on Women and, statistically the highest proportion (or certainly was anyway), Women on Women in Lesbian relationships. #gaslogic is what it is...........1 point

Thanks for explaining, like I say I just seen the headline and thought that was poor but given what you've just explained it makes sense now I'm glad you've got rid of Power, got a few good mates who are Swindon fans and I'd hate to have seen the club go under. I hate Swindon more than Rovers, mainly because of that rivalry with friends, but no one wants to see that Of course, shirt is still smart. Over the years I always felt you tended to out do us on shirt designs, although we've got better the last few years. The away kit seems a bit marmite from seeing comments but I like that too, reminds me of early 90s Swindon, the Burmah away shirt1 point

Indeed. “As the matter is sub-judice (judiciacal/Judy Tzuke/ etc etc) we hope supporters will understand that we cannot comment further at this stage”. There ya go Wally, my Invoice for £2.10 (gentlemen ALWAYS Charge in Guineas) is in the post.1 point

You can bet he has put the phone call in to the club solicitor already.1 point

The season tickets only went on sale yesterday morning and hopefully online up and running later this week. It appears Power took last seasons season ticket money for himself and left debt to every single supplier leaving us right in the s**t with more skeletons being found in the closet daily and considering we've only had the new owner for six days we're removing quite quickly even though we're playing catch up. ww would all like shirts without a sponsors name on it and I'm sure the away strip reflects our Aussie owner. it could be worse we could have made lots of signings and only draw against a non league team this evening!1 point

Another new signing today! Ella Powell joins from Charlton, having previously played at Lewes, so already plenty of Championship experience. Hoping this is another promising arrival.1 point

Joey Barton should not have his career hampered because of the actions of his relatives. He manages perfectly well on his own..!1 point

wael makes no sense at all, if you don't tolerate violence why employ the little shite in the first place. a dad that runs down dogs a brother that kills someone and joey himself who has more convictions than vinny jones had bookings. joey barton is a sad little man than should be no where near bristol let alone running a football club.1 point

And if they were unaware. Doesn't it show Barton in an even worse light (if that is possible). The incident happened June 2nd I think so you'd think that he would give the Wael of Misfortune a heads up?1 point

Look. I'll contact my friends on my government trackable smart phone, get in my car with a government mandated license and insurance, travel to the pub with a government license to serve heavily regulated alcohol (the government has banned the kids I got with from having any though), before going to the city ground regularly inspected by government health and safety teams with multiple licenses, and sitting in my seat as the government have banned terraces so I can't stand. I'll have to have a cigarette on the way though as the government have banned me smoking and drinking in there. What I will NOT acquiesce to though is the government deciding what I can and can't do!1 point

I'm sort of 50/50 on this one. There doesn't appear to have been any sort of Court Order preventing him from being at the family home. Regardless of what did or didn't happen, there's bound to be stress within the family - a bit left field, but I think it's healthier for all concerned for him to be occupied in Bristol for the majority of the week at the moment. If he's suspended, how would that affect his relationship with the Board if an "innocent" verdict was the outcome? I also don't know enough about employment law in these situations. Would be just Rovers' luck to suspend him and then find themselves up before an employment tribunal - it's the sort of the thing we do!1 point

We’ll never beat the famous commentary from his fathers time- “The bowler’s Holding the batsman’s Willey ”1 point

My stance is that you're a bit of a knob to quote a post about domestic violence in order that that you can ask such an infantile question.1 point
