  1. Had a similar problem this morning

  2. Big fan of Pitman during his time at AG. Now, at nearly 34, he's reduced to scraping the very bottom of the football barrel by signing for Rovers. Sad to see - a thoroughly wretched and ignominious denouement to his career.

  3. Driving across Bodmin Moor this morning I got stuck behind a load of hobby cyclists swerving all over the road and not giving way. Imagine my surprise when I saw that two of them were bedecked in Da Famuzzzz Quarters. I was ******* tempted to put them in the ditch it has to be said but just stuck to shouting `gashead *******` out of my window as I passed them. Brightened up a dull working day if nothing else.

  6. Lots of decent post from your lot for an ex player joining a rival of the past. Imagine if it was the other way around!

  7. Incidentally mods, the entire 2547 page thread now seems to be called Brett Pitman. Shome mishtake shurely...

  8. He scored 11 in 27 league starts so a very decent record. I think it's a good signing for Rovers. Felt we never quite got the best out of him here.

  9. I guess the risk for the club is that those three bums on seats, buying their pies and pints, and going to the toilet, results in 30 fewer bums on seats etc the next game, because they're at home with covid. But I doubt they'll see it like that! You'd have thought it possible to restrict access codes to streaming to those who've got match tickets - but I can see that gets time consuming and like you cant see restrictions being lifted otherwise.

  10. Saying Pitman didn’t have the energy or running of Weimann is like saying Susan Boyle doesn’t look like Kate Moss. Pitman basically plays walking football, he can’t (or won’t) run to save his life. He is an excellent finisher but as Nogbad says, this is like some famous singer ending up in Broadmead with a cardboard sign & a hat half full of small change, a truly desperate end to a pretty decent career.

  11. When you’ve got 10 players out because of the hundred and tests like Somerset, some counties have more, there’s nowhere to go but 2nd XI. As Tom said, the ECB promoted it as a development tournament, which to be fair has been great for the youngsters but not to have a major 50 over trophy and not to have any first XI cricket to watch throughout the school summer holidays is heartbreaking.

  12. I remember him as being a good finisher, with a hell of a shot, who came alive in and around the penalty area. Not the most mobile of players even then, but a decent goal scorer who I thought at the time was under-used.

  13. 2013 & certainly one of many baffling decisions by McInnes. He should score goals in L2 & certainly won’t get any slower, because he had no pace (or willingness to run) in the first place. Very good finisher though.

  17. Got to say I only had a glance at their recent accounts and although over the £39m (or 4 year equivalent), I’m pretty sure they are Cat 1, so probably lob off £5m p.a. so probably ok. Armstrong going at some point will help, but allegedly a 40% sell-on to Newcastle, so they won’t realise as much from that as necessary. Looks like they’re budgeting accordingly.

  18. Shame, apparently very, very highly rated as a finisher, but just didn't do enough outside of the box. No doubt he'll get a warm welcome once the Fewers drag their knuckles off the floor.

  22. I think if the club want money in their coffers they need to get the outside areas primed for people to mix outside, even at the sacrifice of some car parking. I personally will not be doing any eating or drinking indoors inside a busy concourse at the moment, and football fans are still treated like second class sporting fans when it comes to being allowed to drink in our seats like adults.

  24. Quite apt....most of their signings seem to be holding the scarf up but quietly singing I Want To Break Free to themselves!

  25. You would have thought after last season that more caution would have been exercised but nope, HMS Piss The League has the keys in the ignition (they certainly wouldn't be able to afford a push button starter out there).

  26. There's a sub text here....."If only I'd taken good financial advice, I would have been able to retire gracefully and follow my personal interests, instead of pimping myself out for peanuts and pushing my already wasted body and reputation beyond the point of no return."

  27. Was that partly down to who he replaced? Although he was only on loan Doyle was scoring for fun at Swindon and I got the impression he was much more of a runner. I was never really a fan of Pitman, yes he scored a few but we didn't have a strong enough team to carry a player who rarely so much as closed a defender down, let alone tracked back or offer some inventive runs. Loosley linked to @exAtyeoMax's point, I think it was because I naively thought we'd replace Maynard with a player that did a similar job off the ball too. Having that direct comparison made his flaws stick out like a sore thumb.

  31. Caught a bit of commentary on 5Live earlier and they were banging on about `power sweeps` whatever the **** they are but seem to be a hundred `shot`. Presumably a normal sweep with an electric motor in the bat or something. Load of bollocks.

  35. That's kinda my point. Let's say 10 people test positive just before a match. 3 of them might be the screw you variety. But if the other 7 decide to do the right thing to protect others then that's 7 mitigated opportunities that the virus could have spread in. As for the tickets, that's why I suggested that the league need to take the initiative on this and remove their restriction to stream in the UK on a Saturday so that those who have a ticket and do test positive but may be sitting on the fence of what to do then they may be incentivised to stay away by not missing the match itself.

  37. Yes, I could catch it in the supermarket or from a delivery driver. What's your point? I'm double jabbed and wear a mask outside. I'm also in the supermarket for less than 10-15 minutes. Is that ok with you? Your concern is covid passports, but all your posts trying to discredit me have only been making the argument for covid passports.

  39. He didn't get as seriously ill as he would have without the vaccine. He also was much less likely to pass it onto anybody else once he had it. I am not a fan of this government (that's an understatement!), but public health is different to other things they are and are not doing.

  40. So how did this benefit Piers Morgan .....Please think..

  41. It works in reducing the risk of catching it and spreading it. And it reduces the chances of becoming seriously ill. Nobody has ever claimed it's 100% effective.

  42. At least someone who has been jabbed gets it. I respect your decision to have the vaccine and thank you for respecting my decision for not having one.

  43. Piers Morgan has had his jabs and was tested, but caught covid at Wembley, so please explain to me how a covid passport would work then? Here's a clue? It doesn't.. So the next question you should be asking yourself is, why is our government pushing this so hard?

  44. This is bigger than City, I will never give anyone my medical details to any business , never! And to allow this will set damaging precedent for the future.... I've seen scary comments suggesting "it's only a barcode", it's not! How many people know that the government has been selling your NHS , medical records to pharma and other corporations for years? In the future you and your children/grandchildrens medicall history will effect the ability to borrow money, jobs etc... How do I know? Well for the past four years I have been working on a project which will help combat this..

  46. There are two Rovers forums and, to be fair, the other one is quite interesting and, at times, quite amusing. On the subject of season tickets one poster said: Got mine. Tried to pay extra for a restricted view, but they`ve all been taken.
