Last season - somehow - we won 2-1 away against this lot with goals from Wells and Nagy and lost 0-2 when QPR came to Ashton Gate. I always associate the West London outfit with attractive football and a flair/class player or two, players such as Rodney Marsh, Gerry Francis and the late Ray Wilkins (the oldest player to have played for QPR at 39 years 352 days.) Another being Stan Bowles who once uttered one of football's most famous quotes: ‘I blew the lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic.’ Sadly he is now struggling with Alzeimer's Disease and requiring full-time care, this article gives a flavour of his colourful past and his desperately sad present situation: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9115627/Stan-Bowles-Don-Shanks-led-thrilling-lives-Stans-Alzheimers-battle-wiped-memories.html They signed ex-City fans favourite Uncle Albert in 2020, following his departure from Nottingham Forest, which enabled Adomah to reunite with his boyhood club. He was on the bench on Tuesday night and was introduced early in the second half, which led to a spirited QPR display with Bournemouth holding on to beat the Hoops 2-1, their first defeat of the season. Willock was booked in that match and may well have seen red so no doubt the football gods will conspire with him having a blinder against us! Of course another player connection is Nahki Wells who enjoyed a very successful loan spell with them before joining us for an undisclosed fee which was reputedly circa £5m. He scored 20 goals in 66 appearances for QPR and has scored 15 times for us in 67 appearances. Our starting 11 will be very interesting. Wells did little to impress when he came on in the week, COD and sniffer Williams may make the squad, rather suspect that JD will start ahead of ZV. Charlie Austin and Moses Odubajo are apparently set to return to the QPR squad. Mark Warburton’s team have had a good start to the season with 12 points and are currently sitting seventh in the league. The ex-Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest boss took over in May 2019, guiding QPR to 13th in his first season and a ninth-placed finish last term. Although they are only three points better off than us (just imagine if we had not conceded in added time against Blackpool and Luton we’d be a point ahead of them) they are playing with a swagger and when I’ve watched them this season they have looked pretty good, especially going forward. Across the division, they are 4th highest for both possession and pass accuracy and fifth for shots per game (13.6.) Few QPR facts: - In June 2019, the club gifted the stadium naming rights to The Kiyan Prince Foundation, a local charity set up by the father of Kiyan Prince. Prince was a former QPR youth player who was fatally stabbed in 2006. - They pioneered AstroTurf pitches in the UK – they were the first football club to replace grass with artificial pitches in 1981 and they were the first club to remove them in 1988. - In January 2002, a family of QPR fans called the Winton’s funded the transfer of Danny Shittu to QPR from Charlton Athletic – the Winton family also funded the signing of striker Doudou the summer prior. - In 1967 QPR became the first Third Division team to lift the League Cup, coming from two goals behind to beat West Brom 3-2 in the final. - The club's name comes from the fact most of the original players came from the Queen's Park area of north-west London. - They have a few nick names including the Rs, Rangers and the Hoops. To the1,890 traveling fans, enjoy your day in the smoke and cheer the team throughout. To end on an optimistic note this is just the kind of game where we might just produce a surprise result, COYR.14 points

I’ve tried so hard to give a mature and balanced opinion of Ashton and that he couldn’t be as bad as people on here make him out to be. But that video confirms it. The man is an absolute d***head.14 points

How long did it take Warburton to get QPR to where they are today (notwithstanding the fact we mugged them)? That's what supporters need to be mindful of, it wasn't a five minute job. He's a good Manager, knows what he's doing, but it took him TIME.14 points

Can’t ******* believe it. We might not be were we want to be . But we have fight and character . Priceless14 points

I’m sorry but we are shit, really shit. When did things get this bad? As soon as LJ left.14 points

Awesome atmosphere, great result. My kids learned some new words. What a day!13 points

**** dissecting that game tactically & forget Bentley performing heroics to keep us in it. Those scenes after the Wells goal are exactly what everyone needed after so long without football with crowds. Unreal12 points

Brilliant result. Well done Nige and the team. And all those who keep questioning Pearson have some of that.11 points

Spare a thought for the poster who started this thread. It`s a crying shame @havanatopiadidn`t live long enough to see justice served.11 points

They been rebuilding quietly under Warburton for almost three seasons almost. Now coming to fruition. Them and Luton are examples of where we can be under a couple years of (competent) stable management.10 points

My first ever away game. On the train with my kids and looking forward to it. I’ve explained to them that we need to make some noise and it will be a different experience to the family section at Home. Hoping that the restricted view warning on our tickets doesn’t spoil it for us.10 points

Quick word on Weimann who I fear may go under the radar. Great awareness for both assists and that’s now 6 goal involvements, which in mid September is excellent.9 points

No idea how we won that, but get in! If you are a QPR fan it’s a ‘of course it was him’ moment. Almost surreal to see that if we had seen out Blackpool or Luton we would be in the top six. Anyhow, it’s just the old saying, ‘draw your home games, win your away ones…’9 points

No its not , but for a young lad making his championship debut, I thought he did OK, but don't think at anytime he looked out of place, very steady debut with plenty of room for improvement.8 points

Walking down south Africa road after the game singing city songs at to top of our voices totally owing west London it simply don't get better than that what a game8 points

I have come to the conclusion that NP is just a very good man manager. He seems to have an ability to get the best from players. He is building a team and a group of players who want to play for him, for the club and for each other. It’s something which has been lacking.8 points

Competitive is as good as we can be at the moment. We weren't even at that level last season.8 points

Out of his depth in the first half as QPR targeted our right side. Better second. Distribution and crossing poor but defensively did ok. But we didn't buy a finished product. Definite potential.7 points

Some people just can’t face the hard yards, can they? We were an absolute shambles last season & anyone with half a brain knew it would take a while to sort out. The types on here who only post when we lose just don’t get it. We could be like Forest & change managers all the time but after appointing someone who actually has a track record why the **** would we want to do that? You reds!7 points

The irony is that if we'd beaten Blackpool, Preston and Luton but drawn the 3 away games that we've won, we'd be no different points-wise but the general mood would be a whole lot more positive.7 points

As a fanbase , can we be bigger than a lot of other clubs fans. I’m sure forest, Leicester etc are revelling in the news of derby going into administration. Let’s not forget where we were in 1982 please. It’s always the fans that suffer. Anyone reading this that was alive back then & thought we’d have no club to wake up to . Just think back& remember how worrying that was.7 points

I can only guess @Mr Popodopolousis either shithousing on the Derby forum or having the biggest w*** ever.7 points

Agreed and that will take time, coaching and recruitment. As long as we are competitive and picking up points here and there the rest will follow, it just isn't going to happen overnight.6 points

The people who we should really feel sorry for are all the local suppliers and contractors who now won`t get paid.6 points

I wouldn't. Most of them seem to think it's jealousy and they have done nothing wrong as the EFL said something about something, and anyway, they have Rooney and it's that Gibson bloke at Boro who is the problem and so what if we sold the stadium, that's just being clever... oh, and we are untouchable and Mel is a fan.... Seriously, for those who could see the problems approaching, yes; they have my sympathy. But for the bullish who claimed all manner of reasons why this couldn't happen to them because a mate down the pub is self employed and knows about business... less so.6 points
