  1. Winning 5-0 at Swansea in the 1989-90 season, with Bob Taylor scoring a hat-trick, and driving back along the M4 with everyone flying scarves from their cars.

  2. For me, it has to be April 1965 when City beat Shrewsbury away, with John Atyeo scoring 4 second half goals. There were no YouTube videos in those days so I’ve recaptured, with a bit of art work, the third City goal as Atyeo leaps high above the Shrewsbury centre half to power a header into the net PS - I am available for commissions if anyone would like a memorable moment of their life recreated as a piece of art

  7. I think our win in the Freight rover trophy 3-0 against Bolton in 1985 is mine, how proud I felt watching my team walk out onto the pitch at Wembley stadium and being surrounded by so many fellow city fans we won it a few times after that but that first ever visit to Wembley and the result made it a day I and many will never forget.

  8. Been to loads of away games over the years but the one game that springs to mind is the 0:1 victory at Arsenal on the opening day of the season after promotion to the fist devision. I’m glad I was there!

  9. Beating the great Leeds side in the FA Cup at Elland Road when they had gone 27ish games unbeaten. Donnie Gilles scored and then followed the longest 20 minutes of survival watching City that I have ever experienced.

  15. I was sat in the stand next to a Coventry fan during this game. We argued throughout the game, it got quite nasty and we almost came to blows at one stage. At the end of the game, when we were both safe, we hugged each other and went onto the pitch together as the best of friends. The most sureal game I have ever been to.

  16. Palace away in the Play-Offs. That Noble gaol still gives me shivers, as does going from row 23 to row 16 as the ball hit the net.

  17. He's been flawless this season, a shot stopper, good on crosses and commands the box well.

  18. Can you explain why the gent in the grey jumper, a committee member by all accounts, is touching the ref and saying 'get the **** in your room' and not trying to get the manager off the pitch? No matter what the refs have done there is absolutely no need for this and people wonder why there's a ref shortage? Behaviour like that is the reason i don't ref football, I umpire in the local cricket leagues and behaviour of players and team officials/supporters has started to go downhill over the past few years. We don't deliberatley go out to give bad decisions, we do our best under trying conditions at times.

  19. Plenty stand out, most have been mentioned, Hereford away over Christmas when we were bottom of Div 4, we beat them to climb off the bottom of the table, a nothing game to the rest of the football World but to us that were there that night it was like winning the FA cup, the start of the recovery.

  20. The cheating bastard Rachid Harkouk going down two yards outside the box like he`d been shot and Norman Glover giving a penalty will always stick in my mind from that game.

  21. I couldn't disagree more. As far as I'm concerned all seedings should cease and there should be a straight draw in all competitions run by FIFA and UEFA, including the terribly misnamed Champions League. All affiliated nations and clubs have paid their dues and deserve to be afforded respect. It won't happen of course because those that run FIFA and the confederations are much more interested in lining their pockets than programmes to improve facilities and coaching in the smaller nations.

  22. Back in City’s promotion year (to what was then the First Division) we had two consecutive away games against two of our promotion contenders, Sunderland and West Brom. A 0-0 draw with Sunderland was followed (or preceded, I forget now) by a 1-0 win at The Hawthorns. Holding on for that victory, under a constant barrage of crosses and shots, especially knowing how important it was to our promotion hopes, was nail biting to say the least.

  28. Fantastic day mate - but it was 1986 I think - I still remember being bewildered and close to tears when I was actually watching our boys playing at Wembley - in those days it was special and rare for teams at our level to grace that famous pitch ...

  29. Alongside the couple of ‘classics’ in this thread that I was lucky enough to be there (Coventry & Rovers in the Cup), one that sticks out in my mind was a cup-tie at Notts County. We were in Div 4, they were in Div 1 & we were packed into the corner of the ground (with a floodlight pylon in with us I think) - we went ahead (think it was Alan Crawford that scored), then we went 2-1 down. Tom Ritchie scored an equaliser but I didn’t see it - as the chance fell to him someone said “put it in Tom” and then we all fell forward and everyone went mental. Really enjoyed that one..!

  31. Watched the 2nd half. Melissa Johnson should have scored to put us 2-1 up but Charlton came back strongly in the last 10 minutes or so. Disappointing to concede deep in time added on for what would have been a good point.

  32. There are many highlights, Arsenal in Div 1, Coventry to stay up, Chester to seal promotion from the 4th, the incredible 5-4 win at Mansfield, a 4-1 at Barnsley, numerous cup games against non league sides and, of course, any win against the Gas, Swindle or Baadiff. However, I'm going for the 1-0 win against Spurs at White Hart Lane 76/77. After surviving crowd trouble which saw us confined to the stands, and an absolute battering by Spurs especially Hoddle, to win it at the death was an amazing feeling. I was walking on air back to Tottenham Hale tube and sunk a fair few pints of Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter in the Merry-Go-Down that night.

  33. Forest, Leicester, Bradford away in the Cup were all brilliant. Bolton freight rover, Gas Eastville in the cup (1-0 down, 2-1 up) all bring back good memories. Some of the best memories for me though were those long away trips up North where part of the “fun” was getting there and then getting back, often after some needle. Ashby de la Zouch was a regular stop off for the lot I went with and that was usually tasty. Also went through a spell of calling in on Swindon on the way back from London clubs - the locals were not amused. Watching football back in the 80s, 90s was not for the faint hearted. All pretty tame nowadays.

  34. I know what you're saying OP, but he was only on loan so never really our player. It's when we have contracted players that move on to 'bigger/better' clubs to further their careers because it makes me sad that we are still way behind the curve, and not expected to achieve anything. Take HNM, probably the most exciting player, and the fantastic prospect Alex Scott. I don't want them to move on to a better clubs, but realisically we'll lose them both, possibly this season. Our only hope in these circumstances is to upcycle our squad quickly and get into a position to make these sort of players believe that we can go with them on their journey. A tall order.

  36. I was in the open end right behind the goal where we scored, right in amongst the mob that you can see jumping up, about 10 of us bunked off school as 14 year olds and we were spotted by teachers on the TV getting on the coach at AG before the game.

  37. I'm going to go for a more recent one, Man City at the Etihad in the Carbao Cup. The atmosphere was amazing all game but when we went 1 nil up just before half time the roof came off. I think this will always stick in my mind because it's not often in my lifetime we've be 1 nil up away against the Champions and also it's not often we reach that stage of a competition.

  39. It was the sense of relief at the end having scored so early and Bradford battering us for what seemed like about three hours! That and Paul Jewell`s snotty comments about them having an easy run to the next round after drawing us - have that you arrogant *****!

  40. happy man today as big dosser showed his class again, came in a bit heavy to lean on wilder and it worked a treat.got to give wilder credit to, made a great fight of it but Tyson is different gravy. Hopefully wilder is going to be ok as he took some heavy shots. bring on Dillan white that will be 4 rounds of street fighting before tyson sees him off usyk this would be a great tactical fight but i feel again Tyson's weight advantage would see him off but could go to points and no doubts this will be a 2 fight if not 3 contract.hopefully on par with the hagler hearns duran and sugar ray fights aj one for the british fans big payday but sad to say the poor mans frank Bruno got no chance Tyson would wipe the floor with him in 3 and wont break a sweat

  42. Absolutely. Made a brave decision to join a club that was in a real mess at the time & apparently didn’t get paid for a while as a result. Could have just seen out the last year of his contract as our third choice instead but is finally playing regularly & as this shows, it has really worked out for him.

  44. I think it's great, female officials are equally capable of making bad decisions and should be given every opportunity to do so. The only thing that really bugged me last night was the length of time the VAR decision took for the 1st goal, but that's another discussion really. I think the players behaviour and reaction to decisions does seem far more circumspect, less intimidating maybe? Which could be a good thing if it spreads to all officials.

  45. That's not really an answer though is it, saying 'your lot are just as bad'. I know the bloke who punched the Braintree player and I also know a couple of those who attacked people- and a couple of women DID get punched in that nasty episode- in the East End that day. It kinda destroys the myth that 'firms' only get it on with other 'firms' and are there to protect their own supporters. In the late 70s early 80s , me and all my mates fancied ourselves as hooligans, we were pretty shit at it and by the time we hit our 20s most of us grew out of it and I do understand there is a bond & camaraderie between those who were more heavily involved, it's only natural to look back and think 'those were the days'. I'm pretty friendly with a couple who would still consider themselves CSF and old Totenders and for the most part, they are good decent people, but it doesn't excuse beating the **** out of innocent people at a football match . Apparently the CSF 'condemn violence and vandalism' yet I know I have seen more than one video of fans chanting 'CSF' while smashing the **** out of a pub without a thought for the staff or owner.
