Andi has just been called up for the Austrian international team. What a man, fully deserved.84 points

Surprised he’s not had a thread already?! I’ve not seen him over 90 minutes before and was very impressed with him yesterday. Against a team with some good individual players, he didn’t look out of his depth and made some good interceptions, along with being strong in the air. His diagonal ball across to Atkinson for Weimann’s goal was exceptional too. I hope he can keep this up and he seemed to work very well with Klosse, who has proven to be a good signing.18 points

27 (18g, 9a) goal contributions in 39 games for a team 18th in the table, whilst playing about 5 different positions. Absolutely remarkable, so deserved to get a call up.16 points

Great news. Can a call up be more deserved than this. Throughout all the problems and chaos going on around him, he has given all he had game after game after game and in whatever position he had been asked to play. No sulking or moaning just giving his best for the team. Well done Andi you are a credit to the game of football. And best of luck.16 points

He’s done what was required this season. Keep us up and bring through some good youth players. Very disappointing to concede so many late goals and set pieces and I think the time to start judging him on this will be next season as the youngsters have had that learning time. He will also hopefully be able to bring in a few more players. With what is available I don’t think we would easily have found someone better either. He was left a real mess last season with players departing and no interest in playing for us and it’s not a 1 season job to sort. So much improvement to be made but realistically he’s done ok this year and we need to be pushing top half next - playing like we did at Preston away.15 points

much about our defences positives yesterday. Think all 3 at the back did well. They nullified WBA attack, were strong in defence AND attack. Both Cundy (great game) and Atkinson back to form and we really looked as solid as I've seen our defence this season. Yes maybe crazy moment from Bentley (not sure about the penalty..would like to see in slomo) and our willingness to give gifts to the opposition continues but team played well, Pring was great again..what a tackler, and they deserved more.12 points

He could have rolled about on the pitch before the match. That would've flattened the surface nicely.12 points

It’s an unhappy truth for some that when COD moves on in the summer, he will have suitors at this level. Not too old, experienced at this level, full international and a degree of versatility on paper. I’m not suggesting in any way we should keep him, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him back at AG in opposing colours next season. The sliding doors moment for me was Hull away a few years ago. Coming up to that game, he was in quality form and showing signs of kicking on to the next level. Picked up a bad injury and hasn’t ever got back to the same level. Without that, the conversation around COD would be markedly different.11 points

26 transfer windows for Johnson is fine. 2 for Pearson and we’ve had enough.11 points

Funnily enough he saved Forest from relegation then had all his players sold from underneath him as well as a lot being let go and then when he wanted to build the attack for Forest he may resistance and they ended up in a right mess. He fixed a hell of a lot that was wrong there but the fans overlooked that because they are the mighty Forest and deserve to compete. The reason I say funnily enough is because Pearson now finds himself in a similar situation with many of our fans taking similar stance. Hughton did a lot for Forest but ultimately the club gave him nothing back and then was surprised when the results didn't come in. Since then Cooper has signed 3 attacking players and essentially built on what Hughton was trying to fix. I think this happens far too often in football, managers coming in, starting a major overhaul job and then having a bad run before they can finish the multiple season turn around work they've begun only to have someone come in and continue that work and get all of the credit.10 points

I’m not amazed at all how the fans have stuck with him - we’ve got a manager who took Leicester City from league one to the premier league - he spent a whole Sunday at Jamie Vardy’s house persuading him to sign for Leicester rather than Blackburn and he signed Riyad Mahrez for £450k to play for Leicester - Mahrez was subsequently sold to Manchester City for £50 million - Pearson laid the foundations for Leicester City to win the premier league ... I’m sticking with him ... so, who would you recommend we get in as our new manager, willing to work within the considerable constraints whilst trying to build a winning squad? I look forward to your list ...10 points

So , he gets pelters for our defensive lapses , ........but nil credit for getting the best out of Andi Weimann .... Ok then , no agenda to see here The fact that our best professional , with the best attitude , and one of few to have played at the highest level , seems onboard with NP and is producing his best season ever actually confirms to me that NP is exactly who I want at the helm9 points

Pearson is a dick sometimes isn’t he. Incredibly arrogant response On another note, two very common things in football make me laugh. Fans moaning about keepers punching and fans moaning about zonal marking from corners. Nearly every keeper nowadays prefers to punch and I would say a majority of teams either exclusively or part, zonal mark from corners. There’s obviously a reason for it that the professional coaches are coaching.7 points

He bought the land to build the new ground, then he got blocked by the newt lovers & dog walkers, so he is trying to recoup the money he spent. I have plenty of issues over his blind spot re Mark Ashton & questionable selections as manager but I really can’t get worked up over this. There is loads of development in the city, quite a bit of it ugly & badly conceived, this is by no means the worst.7 points

And ‘Flaps’ a lot One of our experts on here likes to refer to him as ‘Flappy’ For his effort every single game and his professionalism , his work to get back from serious injury , his call up back to the Austrian Squad is so so deserved and a reward for bloody hard work For the reasons I’ve highlighted there are few City Players in 50 odd years , that I have admired , and respected more At a period where we have been a mess for 3 years or so , when it would be easy to let his standards drop , his attitude is really quite stunning6 points

During this season NP has promoted Alex Scott, Antione Semenyo, Cam Pring and latterly Rob Cundy from the fringes of the squad into the first team set up proper. He also bought well re Rob Atkinson and potentially George Tanner too.. In doing so, he’s significantly increased the asset base of the club. There is every reason to believe that all the above will be better players next season, having benefited from the faith NP has shown in them thus far. For this he deserves at least a modicum of credit, even from those who wish to show him the door. PS Signing Tim Klosse was a top bit of business which his critics blindly ignore.6 points

Spot on. Everyone was like ‘oooo he’s spent 5.3m on a striker. He’s bought us a premiership centre back for best part of 8m. Thanks Steve. Ooo he’s lost nearly 200m quid on City and built us a modern stadium and training ground. What a great guy.’ But now his plan is clear. It was all just a distraction to minimise affordable housing in his new suburb, Chipping Lansdown Nice plan. But we’re on to you, Steve.5 points

4th highest goal scorer and 6th highest assists, average of 5th puts him top across the two, so basically the best player in the Championship. Slightly less facetiously it shows what happens when decent ability (eg 100+ games in the Premier League) and hard work/attitude intersect. Not always played in the right way, but one of the relatively few transfers we’ve got spot on over the last few years. 20+ goals and 10+ assists would be exceptional given the season we’ve had.5 points

Andi was played far too deep or too wide for much of his time here and I credit Pearson for realising that if you play him in a central attacking line he'll get goals. Of course, there's more to his game than that and I like the way he helps out all over the pitch. If anyone can be said to be "he's here, he's there, he's every flaming where" it's him. We are lucky indeed that he decided to stick around and re-sign for us after he was initially released. If he'd decided to return to the continent, our season would've been an even bigger struggle.5 points

Definitely well deserved and somewhat surprised it hasn’t happened earlier. Player of the Season by some distance. And if all of the other players in the City squad gave the same commitment and effort as him, I doubt we would be where we are in the table. Not his fault we can’t defend a lead he has given us!5 points

As one manager famously said "stupid question" He is undertaking a complete overhaul with limited or next to no funds which will take time. There are tangeable improvements on and off the pitch. There will be some regressions along the way but there is purpose and with it progress. In a world full of negativety and bad press it's easy to look at Palmer, Simpson and Bakinson without a bus ticket but really we should be looking at seasoned professional Martin's impressive form over a full season, Weimann's best season as a goal scorer and the emerging talents that are Semenyo and Scott. The future is bright under big Nige.5 points

The news that SL wishes to build a new suburb around Ashton Gate clarifies two things, imo 1. City are a very small part of SL’s long term plan 2. He is not quite the Great Benefactor some City fans believe him to be, he is an entrepreneur seeking to maximise profit for himself. I don’t have any objection to that as an aim, but I do have an objection that his imperial dream has never been open, and City fans being used as dupes. First we got BS and now this new plan. Perhaps we might now be told the ultimate end game? A rebranding of Bristol into Lansdown City perhaps!4 points

Thought he was very good yesterday as was the whole back 3. What I did learn yesterday is that there is life without Kalas as thought we would struggle massively. In fairness, that’s the tightest we’ve been for a long time & only 2 shots on target for WBA all game4 points

In effect a £20k p.w. forward who we signed for £0m on £10k p.w (figures allegeded), albeit on a 3 year contract. That extra year, was the clincher as @GrahamCmentions above, which some of us (me included) thought might end up being a year too long, but acceptable in the circumstances, looks a master-stroke. Martin has proved that at 33 you can still perform at this level…Andi is 3 years younger. Yep, Holden-ball was hugely dependent on Paterson and Weimann. Shame. Imagine being able to combine their strengths into a single player? Wouldn’t be at Bristol City would they!4 points

It’ll be champagne moment of the season when he goes for me! Desperately needs to be part of the reorg in the summer.4 points

Fans quite rightly have differing opinions regarding managers, that’s fine. I take a lot of reassurance though from very often during business meeting breaks bringing football into discussions and since NP’s appointment, not once from Plymouth to Edinburgh have I had to explain who he is unlike the majority, apart from Joe Jordan, that have gone before (and I go back to the Fred Ford era). The reactions I have had range from “how did your club manage to get him” to “solid appointment that” Yes, this season has been highly frustrating of course but did we really expect more given the mismanagement on and off the field over the last few years made worse by injuries and Covid. The green shoot signs are there IMO, a few months ago WBA would have hammered us but they didn’t today and I’m not so sure that as many new signings as some are saying will be needed, but the club certainly has to be clever in terms of offloading, securing fees for a couple of the gems and recruiting square pegs to fit our currently vacant square holes. It can be done, some of those punching above their weight towards the top of the table now have done that. Also refreshing to hear Nige talking about the summer and next season. I’m sticking with Nige, just give it time......ask a Leicester fan.4 points

He fitted the nice boy, 10 second twitter clip quote nonsense that a lot of young modern fans love. He did an ok job for the club but started the downward spiral that Pearson is trying to fix. I don't think Johnson would have coped with the budget Pearson has been given.4 points

Somewhat amusing that some of the most vocal of LJ backers , who wouldn’t have a single word said against him , even after , and , despite some hideous runs and performances well into his tenure , are the quickest to sharpen their knives for Pearson and demand his departure ....... And Lets not even compare Pearson’s lot with the squad Johnson inherited or the conveyor belt of signings he was indulged in4 points

He can have the full length of his contract and then some more from me. If we lose a few bedwetting supporters along the way, so much the better.4 points

Today was just a good goal IMO. Happens far too often I agree, but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up. We were much better today, they barely had a sniff at goal - a pen and a 93rd minute goal, no other shots on target. Pearson gets the summer and start of next season for me - then it’s as good as his team.4 points

I think SL would go for the cheap option and just hire the interpreter to be honest.4 points

I try not to use terms like bed wetting *******, however there are a few on this thread that deserve the title. There was an interview with Alan Dicks recently. A bloke who took ten years to build a promotion team out of kids and cheap-transfers. Pearson has brought in Atkinson (who had a good game and an assist today) and Tanner for fees. but has spent a fraction of the money thrown away by SL on his LJ whim. Injury is a problem, across the club and has been for sometime, but we are building from within so as not to fall foul of FFP and so that we can build something sustainable from our very expensive performance center. Yes we have a problem in the last few minutes that’s pretty bloody obvious, but whether the bed wetters like it or not he has a three year contract with a remit to build a side, without spending money we don’t have/not allowed to spend. That was/is the remit and the fact the playboy had to be slapped down by Pearson publicly should give us all hope he’s not the yes man that the previous men running the football side were HNM won’t sign a contract and the club will have to make decisions regarding Scott and Semenyo as offers are not only likely but inevitable. Then it’s going to be about who we can get in, keeping a few fitter longer, like James Williams Atkinson and Tanner is key and how long it will take the next generation to come through. Conway Owers Benny Janner et al have to step up and fingers crossed Tinman is right that we have excellent players coming through Last minute goals hurt us all, but some have to take their right hand off their Dick and their left off their rattle and wake TFU! And while they’re at it stop adding to the Simpson thread, it was tried it failed, so what!3 points

Can see why so many in the Dolman always use to leave 5 minutes before the end, the results are so much better3 points

Totally agree, Imho, I’d rather keep our squad young with growth in it. If we can get a Championship OOC player at the right wage and under 26 (I.e with longevity in them) then ok….but I don’t really want 29/30 year olds, not aag the expense of Semenyo, Massengo and Scott.3 points
