  1. Weimann and Scott for player and young player, surely. Would be hard to understand anyone else!

  3. I'm not going to bother. I have a sneaking suspicion that the 21/22 will see us hanging around the lower mid table for most of the season, with the season being effectively over by March... Well, thanks for that... My reply makes no sense now

  4. I suppose there is an argument for putting this in the politics forum, but I though it might lose some audience there. — 18 months ago, during the wave of protests following the killing of George Floyd, I took the knee alongside my fellow Premier League football players. Anti-racism demonstrators flooded the streets of the UK, social media stood in solidarity, slaver statues and colonial relics were torn down and hundreds of thousands of people from all backgrounds demanded institutions tackle systemic inequalities in our society to combat racism. We are nearly two years on from the death of George Floyd and the tidal wave of outrage that followed. An eerie quiet seems to have descended, the issues raised have receded from the news agenda and if we are to believe the conclusions of the Sewell Report, the UK does not have a systemic problem with racism at all. Yet in that time both myself and my family have continued to experience vile racist abuse. I want to use my platform to campaign for change and not to let this movement and its momentum just fade away - that’s why I’m calling for Black, Asian and minority ethnic histories and experiences to be put on the national curriculum Sign now with a click I am a proud father of four children. I have seen more and more how important it is for my children to be able to see themselves represented in what they are being taught and learn about the contribution and background of people who look like them. As a mixed race man from a black Jamaican father and a white mother with Irish heritage, I grew up having an uncertain relationship with my own identity. Whilst at school I felt detached, neither white enough for the white kids or black enough for the black kids. I was even told by one teacher that I’d be dead by the time I was 25. It was only in my 20’s that I learnt more about my heritage, what it means to be a black man and the potential impact an earlier understanding of this might’ve had on me. Sign now with a click I want to reignite this conversation and put it back on the agenda. My mum always says to me, you can’t understand where you’re going if you don’t understand where you’ve come from. We need to lay a pathway for longer lasting change for our kids as I believe the current system is failing children from ethnic minorities. Please sign this petition to ask the Secretary of State for Education to make the teaching of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic histories and experiences mandatory throughout the school curriculum. Sign now with a click Yours Sincerely, Troy Deeney

  10. When you look at a map of Qatar as a whole you can see why they’re close. Qatar is made up of Doha and a bit of desert and that’s it. Tho whole thing is madness. I’m all for spreading the word but the population is smaller than Wales and a bit bigger than Northern Ireland, it’s hardly going to change the face of football if 10% of Qataris decide they like football. The many other, more valid reasons why it shouldn’t be there have been covered elsewhere.

  12. Au contraire.......You celebrate 'Coming For Us' and then drop a bollock of some kind. It's bloody hilarious. When we then take the richly deserved piss Gasheads are nowhere to be found. All gone back to hide and lick wounds until they win a game and then they all crawl out from under their stones and start giving it the biggun again and hence the cycle continues. That's why you are the gift that KEEPS ON giving.

  19. Listen here: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/in-conversation-with-joe-royle/ [also on Spotify, Google, Apple] Joe Royle was at City for barely two and a half years [11/77-7/80] but rarely has a player had a greater impact on their debut than he did by grabbing all 4 goals in a 4-1 win at home to Middlesborough. It wasn’t until I did some research prior to interview that I realised what a coup it was for Alan Dicks to sign Joe who was still very much in his prime at age 28. Making his debut for Everton at age 16, he was an ever present at just 21 in the team that won the League in 1969/70 and by then he’d over 120 appearances and averaging a goal every other game! He moved to Man City for a period before joining us but by then his goalscoring prowess had been blunted somewhat and he only managed 18 in 101 appearances – who remembers in addition to the 4 on his debut a hattrick vs. Coventry on Boxing Day 1978 and a last minute winner vs Liverpool a couple of weeks prior to that? Joe talks fondly of his time at City which ended when finances dictated a move to Norwich after relegation from the top flight. He talks about being interviewed for the manager’s job here in 82 which went to Terry Cooper and our loss at that time proved to be Oldham’s gain as he took them to the top flight for what was a 3 year stay in 1991 as well as a losing League Cup Final appearance [1990]. He returned to manage his boyhood club Everton in 1994 and there achieved FA Cup Final success in 1995 which remains their last trophy success. Joe was manager of Man City from 1998-2001 and with successive promotions took them from League 1 to the Premier League and back down to the Championship and predictable sacking. Four years at Ipswich came at a time when the Tractor Boys had major financial problems but twice he took them to the Championship playoffs only to suffer semi-final heartbreak on both occasions to West Ham. Most recently he has been a director at Wigan Athletic.

  20. No… An awareness of precisely this needs to transcend all of society. Even football. Some people may be uncomfortable reading this, but it must be far more uncomfortable living it. Thank you for sharing.

  21. The original fee was £3 million I believe in Administrator’s fees and other professional charges. Yes - once due notice is given - plus a suspended three point penalty for Derby and a further sanction. Technically 31 March …

  22. I’d prefer to see characters on these types of shows rather than professional type pundits. Much prefer to see Micah Richards or Ian Wright getting the giggles or jumping around at a last minute goal rather than some monotonous ex-footballer blandly describing a goal.

  28. Oh Dear Me! You have made it on to the DCFC forum with this one. The usual shit, can't count and Popodopolus is a this and that.....And yet. At every stage this forum has predicted what was coming (probably why some check it out so often). For the benefit of some Derby fans checking this out, the reason is because not everyone is an idiot. This forum does have some well educated well positioned people a thing that I console myself with when the nutters are ranting. Unfortunately The DCFC forum does seem to have no lack of headers and a distinct lack of thought. I guess when you are this close to the precipice reason goes out of the window!

  29. Precedent is that they won’t be in the EFL…one of the northern leagues like Macclesfield I guess. Who amongst the other 71 would vote to keep Derby? Any of them??? shocking. I suggest Morris and Quantuma get out of the country quickly.

  30. Funding had to be agreed to complete the football season, that ends for Derby on Saturday 7 May. The funding does exactly what it says on the tin. There are no significant funds available after that date until the season starts again in August. Or staff wages in May onwards.

  31. I have been told today that there will be no money left on Monday 9 May at the latest, and there are no other sources. So DCFC will complete the last game of the season, but without a new owner by Sunday 8 May the club will fold. I was also told that there isn't an offer on the table that meets the amount needed to pay off the MSD loans (both in Administration and before), so there is no money for any other creditors as things stand.

  32. No chance. If they got rid because they were too old, why would they change their minds 2 years later. Besides, Le Tissier is fully down the rabbit hole now. I'd be amazed if a mainstream broadcaster gives him work again.

  33. I can't see where I singled out LJ for criticism. I included LJ and DH as they were NP's predecessors. I do think that had NP been at the helm when there was money around that we might not have choked and missed out on the playoffs....but we'll never know. How we went from top of the league and semi-finalists in the Carabao Cup to missing out on even a playoff spot following the Wolves game is something I have never been able to work out. We certainly had the talent to compete, but something went wrong mentally with the players and LJ was unable to put that right. LJ certainly talked utter drivel during his post match interviews. I did switch those off. DH was doomed from day one and thrown under the bus and that was down to MA. I think Nigel calls it out like it is and doesn't hide behind smoke and mirrors. You can't legislate for individual errors no matter how much you work on it in training. I like his interviews personally.

  34. I'll hold my hands up that I didn't fact check, but I do know we had a losing streak under LJ that was the worst in the clubs history. The specific point that I was making was that it isn't boom or bust under Nigel Pearson, just indifferent.

  35. Abi Harrison got to be their POTY, breaking goal-scoring records. And i voted for for Aggie Beever-Jones for young player, just the name alone is ace and she is a good player to boot.

  38. One of my first away games was going to see them. They beat us easily. We obviously improved against them since. They had 2 former city players in their starting 11 then we signed their striker who served us well for a few years. (and at HMP too)

  40. Back on topic this move really hasn’t worked out for Janneh, not getting off the bench at all in many recent games during Shrewsbury’s excellent run of form, he’s made just 1 start in total, his last 4 sub appearances back to mid Feb have seen him come on in the last few minutes every time. He’s 22 now & I would not be at all surprised if he’s told this summer he can move on if he can find a club.

Well I'm glad we can be of help then Someone else asked me the same question about Barton, so if you can be arsed to scroll back a bit, you can see my opinion on him Anyway, just to amuse you a little further , I was in Paris for the rugby last weekend and would you believe it , I spotted someone someone on the Metro wearing 'da famous quarterz' , I couldn't contain my excitement and tried to get a pic to show that The Gas now have an international following when I realised it was, in fact. some kind of cycling top. Bloody Frenchies, who supports a cycling team FFS!

  47. Went to Milk Bun earlier in the week, up in Clifton village. Burger joint whose USP is that they are the only place in Bristol who make and bake their own buns from scratch. The hard work pays off as the burgers taste superb with big fluffy sesame seed buns and lovely patties. Also, kicked things off with a perfect negroni. Highly recommended and will be going back to try more of the menu. Our Story - milkbun.co.uk
