  1. And Pearson can't work with no money??? His entire career proves otherwise - as he has repeatedly said whilst here. Presumably you've not been paying attention. Never mind the fact that, with no money, he's developed untried players into assets worth circa 30-50 million quid this season - and at the same time kept us in the Championship! For your information, no City manager's ever achieved that before. But wait, there's more. How about putting a fit for purpose medical team in place? Or maybe you thought Andy Rolls was doing a great job anyway. And all the while talking to us like adults, giving it to us straight and, most importantly, with no personal agenda - just wanting what's best for our football club rather than for himself and his position. Not good enough for you? Get a grip. Yes, some of our football's been rubbish. But then, it was under other City managers too, at first. But, given time, they proved a great success - Alan Dicks for starters. So maybe give Pearson some time too, eh? Maybe you're not familiar with the particulars of Alan Dicks' success. Maybe you're an impatient Generation Zer who wants everything now, now, now. Or maybe, you just love chattin shit. Because there's no lack of belief where it matters. But if there is where you're sat - after just 1 season of disappointment - I'd humbly suggest Bristol City isn't the club for you or any other snowflakes either. Times hard. The road will be bumpy. Buckle up.

  2. Bunch of no-marks, whatever their age. Always have been, always will be. It doesn't matter how many books they write trying to make out they were in some way important. The only thing they did of any importance was to drag football through the mud and leave us with the 'sterilised' evironment we have now. They love to complain about 'modern football', but it is a direct consequence of their behaviour from the 60's through to the end of the 80's.

  3. I`m not. After nearly fifty years I`ve finally had enough of 10 hour days to watch ninety minutes of football and not getting home till 1am for night matches. Add in the hassle of parking, cost of petrol and everything else it`s finally beaten me. I`ll never stop loving City, I`ve got too much invested down the years, but I just can`t be doing with the faff of the `match day experience` any more. I`ll probably get a VPN sorted out and watch via Robins TV so the club will at least get some cash out of me though.

  4. As a 60 something who witnessed the "glory days" of the late 60's, 70's and 80's I find it hilarious to see the same old, and I mean old, faces decked out for action...Burberry cap hiding hairless pate or ridiculous hair style making the most of what little they have, Stone Island XXL (or knock off) outerwear, tightly stretched Fred Perry, baggy jeans (alas, those skin tight Lois Jeans will not contain the spread of age) and Samba/Bamba trainers(not the best footwear for aged fallen arches). Victims of magical thinking, self-generated ever expanding legend( as witnessed on this very forum or overheard in the pub), low self-esteem and self-focused masking ego. Sad escapees from their own reality, fuelled by poor quality cocaine and booze. I'd feel sorry for them if they just stuck to dressing up and lying, but no, these little men have to demonstrate their dwindling prowess by disturbing the personal space of others with their mindless acts of vandalism, foul mouths, aggressive posturing and calculated acts of violence against victims who will not or cannot respond. Sad, irresponsible, selfish B'stards!

  5. Tempted to get one as the kids are really enjoying going this season, it’s been over 10 years since my last one I reckon. The P&R from Bris swings it for me. Easy enough to rock up at the ground around an hour before kickoff without the faff of finding somewhere to park or the kids getting bored. Not overly bothered by the less than exciting football, as the enjoyment comes from the kids enjoying it, if that makes sense? Decent price as well in the family bit.

  6. I expect he's renewing for similar reasons - "I took him to his first game in 1973, I can't abandon him now ..."

  7. Yes as long as I can afford to and able to walk to the ground I’ll keep on going it’s now me the two gran kids and there dad and long may it continue

  8. "Loans from England not up to it"?? that's coming from a club that would probably struggle in the English third division ?

  9. I am great believer in things going in cycles, I am always thinking the good times are coming around again. Looking forward to seeing the next generation come through too.

  10. Sack Pearson and appoint an up and coming coach to inject a bit of enthusiasm and belief into the club. If we have no money, get someone in who can work with no money.

  11. Me and the boy renewed, he would be very disappointed if I didn’t. He still loves it like most kids do. Also works out at 20 quid a game for us both. Reasonable

  12. No, and we won't be. Like @Lanterne Rouge it's the sheer slog of a whole day travelling for a 'matchday experience' that has usually been one of extreme frustration. Apart from the chat with @GrahamC it's rarely been worth the effort. It'll be POTD next year, as it often has been in the past, we'll buy memberships. On the upside our last POTD season was 2014-15. Very happy to be out of pocket if next year turns out to be as good as that!

  13. Done. Old man took me to my first game in 1973, so I’m balls deep now. Anyhow can’t let the old bugger suffer on his own now, can I…?

  14. No, it just proves you need to apply some critical thinking when you see something, Check for several sources

  15. Renewed mine and the nippers. I feel it’s important for me to show him he’s stuck supporting Bristol City for life. The good, the bad, the ups and the downs.

  16. I will renew (haven't yet) but if I don't see improvement this coming season it could well be my last. After more than 60 years of watching City I no longer get the buzz of the matchday experience and when we are playing so poorly night games have become a chore rather than a desired pilgrimage.

  17. Not renewing after 20 ish non consecutive seasons (missed a couple whilst at uni) . The only way is down for us next season and I will be putting money on it. I cant bring myself to go to the remaining games, it's just so poor. Manager is not up to the task. I dont know if anyone available right now would be either. Core number of players for next season are not good enough for the league. Finances are shot so incomings are going to be the same quality as King and James and the like as we are not an attractive proposition at all right now. Sure we could sell one or two but they would have to be replaced and I Don't see us getting better than what we sell. We ship goals for fun and Weiman isn't going to get 20 next season. Depending on who comes up from L1 I don't think there will be 3 worse teams than us. Call me a pessimist or whatever but this is how I feel.

  18. If, as I suspect, we get around 80% renewal and we end up with circa 10-11k season ticket holders then I think the owner should count himself lucky tbh. It hasn’t been one bad season, we’ve been watching crap football for four seasons now and the mismanagement of the club which will not repair itself short term whoever is first team manager is certainly testing loyalty.

  19. This was during the 2016 Euros in France. Very interesting, the Irish fans. I came across both Irish and Northern Irish fans in Paris and, by chance, some Northern Irish fans in Lyon. Almost without fail, they were in various states of drunkenness, laughing and, of course, singing, but most importantly, extremely good humoured. One would fall over and his mates would just laugh and take the mickey, but never a hint of any violence. The various French people I met during the tournament had nothing but praise (and amazement) at the combined Irish fans' behaviour. A shame that the English fans couldn't have left a similar impression.

  20. All, FYI that on Easter Monday the OTIB fanzine hits a rare milestone for the paper-based fans’ forum in this digital age - the 250th edition, no less. I’m not officially associated with the publication although full disclosure I’ve been writing for them on and off over the course of the past quarter century. Can’t be many fanzines still alive and kicking, many City fanzines have come and gone (Stand Up…, The CideRed, Come in No. 7, Your Time is Up), but OTIB has endured. The Gas fanzine, Second of May is long since defunct, possibly due to the events on that date in 2001 but also due to the fact the editor now follows a different team of blue itinerants in AFC Wimbledon. OTIB merchandise has been excellent consistently too. Grab yourself a copy if you happen upon a seller on Monday.

  21. It has - but it has also produced some brilliant moments. It also collapsed too many times in the last ten minutes. Bear in mind that I have been going to matches for almost 50 years, so I have seen some real 'god awful' football.

  22. I would like to see us improve on last season's 51 points and 19th place finish as that way we can say there has been a little bit of progress

  23. So a fantastic result for Derby on Saturday, coming from behind against Fulham to win. Sadly for them Reading also won. So pretty bad for Derby overall. they remain 9 points behind Reading for 4 to play. So assuming Reading get no more points Derby need to win 3 from 4. If Reading don't lose on Monday and Derby lose it is all over. Otherwise it rolls on to the Championship game of the season Rooney v @Mr Popodopolous!!!

  25. And you stand accused of still not grasping the mess we’re in . It’s a achievement staying up with the squad we have. You can only really judge nige when he’s has the squad he wants . He’s been working with one hand tied behind his back. You constantly fail to see this though

  26. ... and Yeovil Town and Forest Green Rovers both have much better stadiums than da roverzzzz - whilst FGR are also way ahead of da famous quarterz on the pitch too ... those poor souls who occasionally frequent the Mem, when it isn’t raining, just can’t grasp their true status in the West Country footballing hierarchy ... but never forget, they are “bigger than Norwich City” and their away support is “on a par with Liverpool, West Ham, Wolves and Sunderland” - they do make me chuckle ... ???

  27. Unlike some signings at the time (eg Engvall) I think I “got”, and indeed we all “got” Moore. England age group international, room to improve, decent attitude. Ultimately he’s not kicked on for whatever reason so it’s time to let go, but I’d take the gamble again

  30. Your niaive if you fell their influence is still not felt in the club. The LJ/ MA reign will be still felt until the summer2023, when most of the dross they signed is out of contract and 2024 when the financial mess they created is no longer counted towards FFP. Agree re signings though this needs to be a club policy to ensure this happens going forward. Thats why we need to appoint a DoF/ head of recruitment which ultimately is the boards/ SL’s decision agree completely with this except one point; I’ve noticed its a fair portion of our older fanbase who are being the impatient/ Nige out not just some of the younger fans. next season I am hoping for a midtable finish, see us improve both defensively and with our game management whilst trying to play some good attacking play which we have shown in glimpses this season

  34. Just for the sake of clarity- please remind me of those "brilliant moments" this season of which you speak? I suppose winning at home and avoiding the longest homeless win run in EFL history by one game was a relief and felt good whilst beating Cardiff was extremely satisfying but I'm stuck for any truly "brilliant" moments for several seasons.

  35. AW to score 20+ goals. Finishing ‘safe’ without relying on others points deductions. Just to shut some up. Winning two in a row. Finishing above Cardiff.

  38. Me too, my ‘crime’ was not singing ‘...and it’s hi ho, Bristol City...’ at Wembley - he bellowed in my face demanding to know why I wasn’t singing - I simply replied “I don’t recall seeing you at Port Vale away” - he wilted like a piece of spinach and slid back into his seat ... why would someone like that bellow obscenities at a fellow fan?! Bizarre

  39. It was to get promoted but I cashed out. £5 bet to win £980 and cashed out for about £240. Rotherham isn’t a definite now either so was a good decision I think

  40. Try to do better with less. Continue to cut costs, wages in particular. Amortisation cost cutting is taking care of itself thanks to Pearson and a bit of Holden. Continue to develop the youngsters…and keep the links close between u23s and first team. Continue to build the togetherness of the squad. Something like that anyway! ?

  41. If you read the replies you will see that the majority of people slate the original post, as it's accepted that City have the larger numbers (there are always a few who bury their heads in the sand regarding this).

  42. The issue is who can you bring in to get more out of the expensive flops we have at the club, The same players who haven't performed for 3 managers..... It can't be the manager that's the problem,

  43. I’m also in the ‘sign him up’ camp. A calming, organising presence. Remember how Webster improved Kalas’ game? Well, Rob Atkinson starting to look very good alongside Klose.

  44. It seems to be 'fans' of that age who were verbally abusing and intimidating people at the ground yesterday too, same recently at Bournemouth. They arrive late, too pissed that they can hardly stand. If you are lucky they will then fall asleep within a few minutes, I have seen that several times over the last couple of matches. If you are unlucky they will push into any row they like, without any thought for people who have been there an hour or more before. People who have often sacrificed a better view to sit lower in the stands to get away from the idiots who often go to the back, which is the decent thing to do. Some people don't want to sit with drunken morons. They might not be able to stand. They might have children with them. They might not want to get smoked out with flares or have people smoking and drinking alcohol next to them. These people as I say know to sit lower, they don't sit up in the morons areas. But more and more frequently the morons are arriving after KO and can't get to the back as it's full or are really too pissed to climb the steps. They then as I said just think they can stand where they want. At Bournemouth that was on the steps and all along the bottom of the stand. If there had been a medical emergency the stewards would not have had a hope getting through to assist. I really don't know how they gain entry. I understand that clubs might want these in as they will just drink and drink which means £££'s for the clubs. If you are early you are thoroughly searched, arrive late en masse and it appears you can get in with anything. I speak to a lot of fans away, and stewards. Lately it has not been a good experience. I got to stress it's NOT the younger fans. Almost never have any trouble with 25 and younger. They are 'lively' but respect the 'rules' regarding not standing Infront of people (usually) but it's the 40 to 60 year olds who are the most drunken and abusive. They think they are still 'lads' and are embarrassing to themselves and the club who most stewards say have a bad reputation now.

  45. I think we should have a fans penalty shootout at half time and our representative should be @Mr Popodopolous. Just to add a bit more spice they should use the goal at the Atyeo end.

  46. They harp on about their great support but they are behind Bradford and Swindon for home crowds and last week when they took 1100 to Tranmere for a promotion clash they had the 4th best away support in that league that day behind Newport, Mansfield and Oldham, at the end of the day if you look at the South West/ West Country they are behind us, Plymouth and Swindon in every way.

  47. Blood some more youngsters, keep some clean sheets. Accept its going to be another long hard struggle and be happy with staying up.

  48. I’d be happy with Cundy, Klose, Atkinson plus a new CB and young player being 5th CB (if good enough)
    2 points
  49. Think we’ll keep him but purely because we’ll get rid of a lot of centre backs. Kalas has a year left - last chance to cash in, Nige doesn’t seem to fancy Vyner/Moore, Cundy also has a contract expiring and no one knows whether Baker will stay on or retire. Atkinson looking like the only centre back that will stay for certain Edit: For clarity I would opt to keep both Klose and Cundy

  50. Keep Klose and Cundy, sell Kalas.
