  1. What a great guy he is. Alright so good managers can make mistakes, be too abrasive for some, but if the players give 100% in training and games, they will get his respect and affection in return. He was very good for Bristol City, just as Nigel Pearson is now for City. Straight talking, hard working and with a good deal of talent to coach, manage and sometimes to nurse the players.

  5. Just a quick look on Twitter the last few days there have been some absolute corkers from those belters I’ve seen comments like “best team in the south west at the minute” - only for me to remind them that they came third behind 2 other teams in the south west “better then most League 1 teams “ ”top 6 next season if we get Anderson back” Absolute nuggets the lot of them

  7. Yeah it's a strange division and something that fans have been quibbling about on Owlstalk tonight, some people pointing out we got 85 points, and others saying the league is so bad beyond that top section it isn't anything to shout about. I've actually enjoyed seeing us win some games this season for a change ? Got to be seriously challenging for automatic next season though. Anyway this isn't a Wednesday thread so I'll stop moaning at this point. Think I want Forest up in the Championship, tempted to say Luton but I think Forest would be a good addition back in the top flight. Wycombe in League One. Northampton in League Two after Scunthorpe stitched them up.

I think Colin has done a great job, he really shows that he gives a sh*t about the lower leagues, does his homework, and I always get the impression if you met him and said who you supported, he would know what’s going on with your team. Hope he moves to ITV4 with the show!

  10. How could I have possibly forgotten Radio Bristol, with their regular trips to "The Mem" and to see how the "Gas" are getting on. Then on other occasions they'll see if there's any updates from BS3 and Bristol City. It's not cold towards City but, often comes across warm and friendly to the ground stealing family from hell club. I'm not certain but, I doubt there'd have been the same coverage in Nottingham for County as there is for Forest, equally Port Vale wouldn't get equal coverage as Stoke. I watch local TV news and I am often left wondering who's the team with most support and consistently in the higher division. As for the ground reference, you can bet your sweet buddy that Marvin's Right hand man and Gashead, Craig Cheney, is beavering away behind the scenes, trying to give developers long leases with peppercorn rents on council owned land. With the promise of easy planning applications as long as they provide a stadium within their plans.

  13. Imagine the uproar in the Premier league if, for instance, relegated Norwich were playing Arsenal and fielded a team of mostly inexperienced youngsters. Arsenal won 7-0 which meant they finished 4th on goals scored and pushed Spurs to 5th therefore Arsenal securing the final Champions league spot and the financial rewards that go with it. However this is only 4th division Northampton so no one in the EFL really cares (except NTFC and their fans).

  20. By activating the option it means Ipswich have to buy him rather than get him on a free ooc signing. That's the theory, of course a fee might put them off but we can make it a nominal amount - it just gives us options.* *To quote Mark Ashton " I always have options during the window, options give you power, options give you control and at this football club I always have several options, I fish in every pond, river, and lake to ensure those options are the best options - I have a world class data wall of every movement or action by every club and agent and that gives me a head start. Information, options, power are the key to my success" Don't you miss him?

  27. Just imagine if the money squandered on legal costs had been donated to several charities. Think what positive work could have been done. Because, let's face it, absolutely no one gives a flying one if Vardy leaked Colleen's insta posts (or vice versa) or not. How tone deaf is it all.

  28. I don't agree with you. In your first case, she's chosen to put stories out into the public domain. In the second, someone else is taking something she has shared privately and putting it out into the public domain, almost certainly for money. That's in no way the same in my opinion. Just because she's a celeb (hah!) and has shared stories in the past voluntarily doesn't mean that's then open season on everything for her friends to share with the world - especially if they don't know if it's true.

  29. I have to say, there is an irony in someone who has been happy to be featured in the press (Coleen Rooney) getting upset over stories coming into the press - whether true or not, they weren’t exactly more damaging to her than Wayne shagging grannies. The press (generally) exist to a code with celebrities - if you court the good, you’re fair game for the bad. I understand that CR was in the game early when photographed at school but she could have not done multiple shoots and stories after that point. How often do you see Harry Kanes missus in the press for example? To be clear - phone hacking - shits. Going after Sterling for having a tattoo - shits. Coleen Rooney getting narked because she’s put stories into the public domain (even one person you allow to follow is the public domain) having happily sold stories prior? - meh.

  30. Add Radio Bristol to this list, I have never known them Tweet so relentlessly about a single game, I swear our Man U win only got about the same coverage from them. Spot on about the friends in high places too, just watch the “now we need the Council to help us get a new ground narrative” over the summer..

  31. Don’t get the hate for FBC to be honest. It’s the first city pod I listen to each week, followed by OSIB and then maybe 3 peaps but I struggle to get on board with 3 peaps as it does play things very safe r.e. Any criticism of the team or club. FBC and OSIB will at least call out crap football when they see it, and let’s face it - apart from Hull 5-0 there’s been an awful lot of crap to discuss this season.

  32. Always enjoyed Colin “Average Show” Murray on Talksport who left them out of principle. He has good guests too, both the pros like Sam Parkin, and also opened up to NTT20’s George and Ali. A bold move, and a pair who I think are actually better on TV than their podcast. Hoping the standards are kept.

  33. Our end of season form did wonders for the morale of the fans. As you’re walking away from the ground in an end of season game and we’ve just won, you can’t help but feel optimistic about the following season and don’t want to miss out. I’m glad fans have found ways of affording it, many by downgrading by the sounds of it. It hasn’t and won’t be easy for some so let’s hope we’re rewarded with a top half finish. Strangely it was some cracking away days that made me realise I couldn’t miss out. Especially games like Cardiff and QPR where I would struggle for a ticket without my season card priority.

  34. FBC has become my first listen of the weekend (not just as they are normally first up), and I am the happiest of happy clappers! you want to be entertained as well as informed, when listening to things about city... They are all entertaining including Ian. None of them say they are always right about everything. I actually listened to the last FBC twice this weekend (as I had loads of DIY stuff and all the city podcasts keep me company whist doing it), I did not think it over the top when reflecting on the game and the whole season... Yes its a bit negative and yes we have been on a good run and yes Huddersfield are a good side...... but on the flip side they are mostly correct in what they say, judged on the season we have been poor results wise and mostly even worse to watch. "fake tears" from overpaid footballers are all too common, be it from 20 years olds or 30+ year olds... HNM has flattered to deceive from the start and yes I am afraid it probably is to do with his "look" as much as anything else. AW has been nothing less then brilliant this season and Headhunter has repeatedly admitted it and said he got it wrong. but in the past seasons he has run around in a slightly headless way for much of the time. so judged before this season FBC had that about right. FBC don't follow the party line and are the better for it, they are knowledgeable on football and passionate about City, we should value all the pods as they are all good in their own way. it does probably need one more "happy clapper" on there to balance it up. I really value all Dave Fevs says and see where he is coming from, but I for one dont want Ian G or the others to change their ways, its more fun to listen to and they are not ASKING anyone else to feel the same way, they are just giving their opinions.. long may it continue... the only moan I have is the background sounds of keyboard tapping and hand washing that seems to go on every episode!

  35. Thanks @Davefevs for the figures. Just like a certain podcaster, stats don't always paint the full picture do they. I've just renewed by eldest's ST alongside mine in E32. Mine was £545, his was of course £150. I see the under 12's in the South stand are only £55, what great value for kids that is. With all the reduces STs, I reckon the true figure of full paying ST holders could me as low as 6-7k in my opinion. Gone are the days of clubs about level relying on them to fund the next season. Using your figures above, even at it's peak; the income would have paid about 10% of our players wages for 20/21 season. I think next season the club should look at the POTD prices a bit more. Mine averages out at around £23 per game. I have no issue with POTD being around the £30 Mark. £39 in the Dolman centre is a tad too high though in my opinion.

  36. I'm going to try to put a bit of perspective to this debate, so here are my thoughts on the subject...... I don't like their club, never have. I have some good mates who are Gasheads who are great blokes. They just happen to support a shit, vile and nasty little club with other supporters who are equally as vile (especially some of those in their 50's who are literally riddled with jealousy and envy when it comes to City and remember City's time in the top flight). If like me you supported City through the 80's and had to put up with their constant jibes about 1982 and watched Rovers approach to derby matches during the late 80's (park the bus, try to break Dave Smith's legs on numerous occasions etc and somehow walk away with 3 points. Watch ******* like Holloway laughing his head off at small kids wearing City shirts when they were upset after the game) then you would understand why there is so much hatred for their tinpot scummy club. However, Rovers winning promotion on the final day with such a massive goal swing and considering that they climbed the league from being 17th near Christmas is quite a remarkable achievement (for any club). That said, the first thing that comes to mind on such a momentous occasion for them is to proclaim that they are 'Coming for Bristol City' and attempt to paint the town blue and try to rub our faces in it. They are goading and looking for a reaction from the gurt Ted's to somehow confirm to them how much their promotion has 'hurt us'. Now here's the thing.....They want us to say things like 'we're not bothered' and '**** the gas' etc because in their minds they will think that it means that we are indeed bitter and hurting. The best thing to do in this situation is to do quite the opposite and in fact congratulate them on their achievement and here is why.......They could never wear red or congratulate us on anything (ever) because they are riddled with envy and jealousy and usually react with bitterness, contempt and in other cases with anger and they are expecting us to react the same way. By congratulating them it goes to show how insignificant their achievements are, and shows that we are not riddled with envy and jealousy (which we aren't). Let's look at it for what it is.....If City had been promoted from Division 4 we would have felt a sense of relief. Remember, we were promoted from Division 4 when we were on our ass as a club, we literally had **** all but somehow we managed to scramble out of Division 4 within 2 seasons. On Saturday Rovers finished in 3rd place to get out of Division 4. With their outpourings of joy you would have thought that they had qualified for the Champions League. This is the bar that they have set themselves. They are overjoyed at finishing 3rd in Division 4 and no doubt they will be planning the Open Top Bus Tour of Kingswood to mark this glorious achievement within the next week or so. As City fans we would be relieved to have got out of the basement, not celebrate it with a parade. For us, being in Division 4 would feel like the pits and a disgrace. Gasheads have celebrated it to the fullest. It's laughable. It's a ******* joke. It's Tinpot. Let it sink in that they are overjoyed at finishing 3rd in Division 4 two places below the League Champions who are a village club from Nailsworth and who not so long ago were playing in the same league as Yate, Patchway, St George, Cadbury Heath and Hanham. So yeah, why not congratulate them if being that insignificant means SO MUCH to them. I've said well done to them, but inside I am laughing my ******* head off at how Tinpot they are and at how much it means to them. Hopefully reality will kick in for them next year and the Wael's will fall off their caravan. It won't be long before they crash back into Division 4. They might survive a year or so, but sustaining League One football in that shit pit isn't viable longer term. It's certainly no 'love-in' being happy for them. It's more of a 'There, there, well done my little insignificant Tinpot friends'. Yeah, Congratulations Rovers, Congratulations.......??? 3RD IN DIVISION 4 ??? ?

  39. This has to be one of the most ridiculous "celeb" (barely) stories recently. Out here in the real world no-one gives a tinker's cuss about who leaked what, to whom, when and how. What is truly outrageous is the staggering sums of money they must both be shelling out for what can only be, by any standard, a hugely pyrrhic victory. The detachment of both parties from real life is unbelievable.

  44. I was away in Devon when I heard the news, I thought, there has to be something really funny going on for the results to transpire as they did. Well there was, the gods were shining on them. Then I suddenly thought, this is going to be intolerable. We'll have the Post, Points West, HTV all swooning over them for their marvelous achievement, which is usually portrayed as so much more than we ever achieve, I suppose that's the plucky underdogs, or that Rovers supporters demand more exposure and still have simpathysers in high places. I also thought how long until I see one of those tramps wearing a tramps shirt. I didn't have to wait too long, Sunday morning I'm on my way home and stop in Highbridge caravans and, there it was, a tramp wearing a tramps T shirt at 11am in the caravan shop. Spoilt my day. I will also add that I live in Bristol, yet only know one active Rovers supporter, fortunate you might say. He wasn't going to be able to make a meet with the lads this Wednesday, now he's managed to make the time, surprise, surprise.

  45. That pretty much sums up my views on the pod. I criticise Mr Gay quite often for his views, but I'll still listen as that is the beauty of opinions. It's better when Neil is on there who imo is the most balanced fan on there. I still think the podcast is probably the best one out there as it causes the most reactions on this forum. And I agree about Massengo - he has flattered to deceive. Just look at his Goal and assist stats - it's not great for a player of his talent.

  46. Thanks for the positive comments and those of others including @Tafkarmlf & @richwwtk From the critics, these caught my eye ... @View from the Dolman "reactionary, petulant, ill informed waffle" - @billywedlock "worst podcast by a country mile, talk total bollox & misinformation" @Numero Uno "it's a *hit podcast and the contributors need replacing" Nothing stopping any of you coming on to give an alternative view - I'll do a pre-season piece with you as a trio if you like. @Sir Geoff "leaving out Martin, breaking the front 3" - sounds mad in a single sentence but how do you accommodate Scott who can only play in a 3? @David Brent "no listeners" - published data would suggest otherwise. Nothing I can find on the "irreverent" OSIB but comparing us with the "increasingly safe, nigh on official club pod" that is 3 Peaps, this tells me our following is growing: Sample: match review podcasts: the 5 up to Huddersfield at home in December vs. last 5 to this weekend: pre-Christmas 3 Peaps had 18% more downloads, for the more recent period FBC has 14% more downloads, a big swing. It is all about opinions and, as I have said before Ian is a Piers Morgan type who will attract comments like that made by @Robboredin this current thread, "the negative shite". @NcnsBcfc & @Curr Avon provide a suitable antidote as many have commented. Love doing it, maybe I should be looking at finding a sponsor if this growth continues!!!!
