  1. From that article and the 3 peaps podcast with Tinnion, I got the very clear impression that Pearson is putting the soul back into the club. People seem comfortable in their skin and if any organisation has that it will be successful.

  4. ???????????????????? Couldn’t of put any better myself . He’s got us back on a even keel . It couldn’t of been easy to turn it around . For a all the woke fans out there who see him as a “bully” they haven’t got a clue. He has a genuine connection with the players. I remember Matt withers on his podcast moaning that Pearson doesn’t clap the fans . He was asked about this & said it’s important for the players to connect with the fans not him . I see him as the complete opposite to a bully . It’s all about the team with him . He’s a top bloke imo .

  7. I really enjoyed the pod and Tinnion’s passion really shines through. I’m up at the HPC 3 times a week at the moment and it’s very rare that Tinnion isn’t there, watching academy training or taking in the games. He very occasionally gets involved in team talks during the matches and you can see the young lads hang on every word he says when he gets involved. He clearly loves what he’s doing and it really comes across - we’re very lucky to have him. There are some fantastic players coming through throughout the age groups - the future is definitely bright and Tins is playing a huge part in that. The guy is a breath of fresh air.

  8. I havent watched an FA Cup Final since....certainly the 90's. It doesnt hold the same feeling any more. Maybe I'm just growing old but it used to be an occasion. Now its just another game I have no interest in

  9. For me, Antoine's the only City player with the 'wow' factor. He's a joy to watch, combining great upper body strength, quick feet and a turn of pace that terrorises defenders, face on or with back to goal. His two goals at Craven Cottage in January were top Premier League class and I'm excited for next season if he stays. Pretty please.

  14. Apart from my natural dislike for Swindle I couldn't support a team with a pony tail forward line. I've always agreed with the adage a man with a pony tail is like a horse. When you lift up the tail you'll find an arsehole underneath.

  15. I guess “we” ought to feel encouraged that from the outside looking in we have a first team manager so willing to back the judgement of the Academy boss rather than paying lip service to it. Willing to trust several of them, willing to keep a trim squad so that they have opportunities. Whilst I sit here and think we don’t have a very balanced squad age-wise (and other things too), in some ways that means we aren’t blocking pathway. We can’t really afford those mid age range players (typically in contract and therefore a fee), which means our youngsters are getting great opportunities both in terms of first team minutes but also training time with them too. I couldn’t believe how quickly Benarous’s game came on from a “skill-spot” u23 player to mature performances in the first team. In fact I think it might’ve been the Cardiff u23 game where he went back to trying to do flashy stuff and Nige mentioned in his press conference he’d not been very good. A little reminder for him when back on first team duty. If it means we have to go with the older OOC player to supplement the squad then so be it. Would it be the worst thing in the world to keep Andy King, or sign Marlon Pack if it sped up the development of Josh Owers for example. This approach certainly hasn’t blocked any of the Academy boys yet. Its quite refreshing. Not everything around the club is positive, but this is one area we should be getting behind.

  16. It was different before the Cup Winners` Cup was done away with. That was the second most important European competition and clubs wanted to win it. A Europa League place for the winners isn`t the same.

  17. Everyone wants immediate ‘success’ and ‘glory’ now If that can be achieved than great , but it’s rare , because a new head coach / manager rarely inherits a performing squad or even one that has the potential to immediately and significantly change We have been on the decline for 3 or more years now and anyone with any common would see and know there was major work to be done here to not only overhaul an overpaid disjointed and poorly performing squad , but to form a different culture at the club For me he increasingly looks like he’s achieving in both respects It will take more time but we will be better as a Club , with a healthier squad and overall culture , for Nigel Pearson’s tenure here , (IMO) whenever he moves aside

  20. What's very apparent is how technical development can be achieved in the Academy, but it has to be combined in most cases, with a loan to another club to gain a competitive edge, a winning mentality, and better physicality. And each player progresses at different speeds. I've often wondered whether the system could be improved upon. So as not to keep looking for loan opportunities. As an example...having a football club lower down the pyramid as a ' feeder' club. At Bath FC sort of level. Basically taking it over and playing City 'signed' academy level players in it. Developing them as the academy does, but playing in a men's league, with competition and physicality. Developing them even quicker. And playing to a style that the first team do...rather than what a loan club does. Similar to what happens abroad. Not sure on the legality of that... especially if they got promoted into the league. I guess FA rules would need to change. The reason I think this...is because in the main, a few exceptions... a player isn't ready for Championship football straight from the Academy, without first having a loan period in men's league football. Without loans...on the whole, the academy system is broken as there is too much of a gap. BT and his colleagues have really done a fantastic job at developing these players through a challenging system of loans and fast track academy football.

  21. My first ever Podcast! What happened to letters, postcards and snippets in the Evening Post and World! So interesting from start to finish, the depth of information from Brian in a way that I've never known before. As one, who in my younger days, watched first team, Reserves and any Youth (under 18's) Cup games at Ashton Gate and even Bristol Boys (under 15's) I have always seen the benefit of developing our own. So many who have become City legends during my seventy years as a supporter, were our own boys who grew up and gave great service to our Club. To name names would be unfair because with so many to mention, I'm bound to miss many out. The latest crop are a joy to watch and we all wait expectantly to see how they will develop. At different rates and have a thought for those who miss out in the end and rejoice on the successful one's.

  26. I find it hard to dislike Liverpool. They don’t go and buy a 100M player every season. They play great attacking football and have a fantastic manager. If you are a fan of the game it would be only jealousy that makes you dislike them. Would love to see West Ham beat the UAE tomorrow to take the PL right to the end

  28. - Making a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir gently and firmly. You've got to grind your beans until they squeak. And then you put in the milk.

  29. As you know, I'm a very keen fisherman myself. You know, I've often thought that going fishing was very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First of all, clean and inspect your tackle, carefully pull back your rod over, and remove any dirt or gunge that may have built up whilst not in use. Then, extend your rod to its full length, and check that there are no kinks or any wear. Particularly at the base, where the grip is usually applied. Make sure you've got a decent float, the appropriate bait, and that there's plenty of shot in your bag.

  31. Im glad Liverpool won, wouldn’t call myself a supporter but definitely have a soft spot for them. A proper football club steeped in tradition, passionate fans, a knack of winning big games with some highly memorable performances - Istanbul was the first for me and I loved Gerrard, West Ham cup final, Barca etc. There’s only two cities in England that have the passion most clubs can only dream of - Liverpool and Newcastle. Spend a match day in either of those cities and you’ll understand just how much football means to a community and to fans. All my opinion of course, and I’m from a younger generation that didn’t witness Liverpools earlier glory days. Some of their fans are knobs, but find a club that doesn’t have them. I’d love to see them do the quadruple but I think the leagues gone.

  34. Whatever anyone thinks of Pearson?, and while i sit uncomfortably on the fence....... and wait to see what he achieves this summer, now that he is able to really start making significant changes? It is so reassuring to have Tinman, who is City through and through, organising, scrutinising and doing what he feels is best for his club. Having him in the background taking care of the academy, makes me feel assured and more confident about our long term prospects? He is the lifeblood of our club, and I think his contribution in the present and in the future to Bristol City , will be massive?

  35. He is a joy to watch but to say he’s the ‘ only ‘ City player with the wow factor is a bit unfair. For attacking prowess Weimann has had many of us out of our seats. There is a lot more to come from Scott as well.

  38. I think there has to be a realism about where we are as a club right now and we simply can’t spend the money as we’ve done before. People talk about budgets as use clubs like Coventry, Huddersfield and Luton as clubs without a budget. Whilst that’s true , Luton and Coventry have had consistency with management of the club and Huddersfield stuck with their manager last season when they had an awful year. Yet people want the constant change of management with either no suggestion of a replacement and no concept of the constant change of manager brings. As Pearson has said problems at the club and will be there whether he stays or goes - he accepts the problems and appears prepared to stay, surely that had to a positive

  44. It comes down to the fact that we are not going to progress by rewarding failure. It's inherent in the culture of the club, quite happy to accept mediocrity if someone's a nice lad or a good worker. He's been here five or six years, he didn't do anything to earn his last contract extension, he hasn't done anything to earn another one. Flashes of promise mean bugger all if they never turn into anything. He can go and waste somebody else's time. It's beggars belief that far better players have been hounded out of the club whilst there are still some people who want to give him another chance. A realistic scenario is that he signs a three year deal, has 5 or 6 good games a season and we end up in this position again in three years time.

  45. Interesting point and it did cross my mind when he was talking about them (Anyone whose seen them together in U23s can see how they work so well together ) but Firstly it would probably be difficult to find a club , and the right club , to take them both. And it would probably do their long term education better , to play with different partners , and in different ways - I didn’t realise they’d played together so long , and their friendship or understanding won’t wane if separated for a while - it would likely make them even more potent, with some extra knowledge, when reunited. Tinnion really is a square peg in a square hole isn’t he - Very level headed , and has a great understanding and vision as to how these young players should be developed , each individually to a evolving plan Really interesting times - we’ve had the odd batch of promising youngsters over the years but I’m not sure we’ve had a potential assembly line over several age groups as we appear to have now . We have struggled for most times to achieve the transition to first team football with many but that transition now appears to be planned and managed so much better. Some of our most promising youngsters in previous years also fell away , not because of natural ability (We have had some absolute diamonds ability wise) but through lack of desire or dedication required. What I really was encouraged by , in what Tins had to say , more so about the ability coming through , was his glowing comments about their attitude , and desire to learn - That really is a green light for me Loved a couple of Tinnions down to earth comments, giving an insight into how he looks after attitudes , such as ‘They are playing in Championship for Bristol City , they will play where they’re told’ (With a chuckle)

  46. He won’t go according to Gasheads I know. He wouldn’t want to take a step down and go to a smaller club like Burnley. On Saturday The Gas would have beaten ANYONE, not just a relegated Youth Team….ANYONE. Why the hell would Joey want to leave the bestest fans in the whole world and an amazing club like Rovers? #Gaslogic

  47. If Rangers or Celtic were in the Championship they would adapt to that level accordingly like all clubs do and then if backed financially would easily push to Prem due to size of clubs IMO, it’s almost irrelevant if the standard is better or worse currently really
