  1. If he does go, I think it’ll be the player I’ll be most disappointed about for many years. Not that I’d begrudge him the move, just that I’ve really enjoyed watching his development. It’s rare to find a player with such athleticism and (ever increasing) end product. His goal against Fulham where he held off two players with sheer pace and strength is one of my favourite City goals for a long time.

  2. At the risk of sounding “super fan” here, your last games (which were our biggest for years) predated Kasey Palmer being here by six months, and signing permanently by a season and a half. Using him as a reason not to go is odd in the extreme, while noting that there will always be genuine reasons people can’t attend such as affordability. In short, stating “My last games were the Manchester cup games and I’m not going again until a man who wasn’t there at the time and I’ve never seen play live leaves” makes you sound like a bit of an arse tbh.

  4. I would think Rangnick is a great appointment for Andi - Rangnick wants his teams to press , pacy hardworking players I would hazard a guess that he may keep his place in squad for the foreseeable. A bit of fortune that AW deserves - from ACL to international recall at 30 after a 7 year absence , in 18 months , is some achievement, and for me , suns up Andi Weimann Great to see extreme hard work and professionalism get rewarded

  7. I’d never boo the knee and I’m not making excuses for what the kids were doing but England players taking the knee for equality then going to play in a World Cup where around 10,000 slaves died making the stadiums takes the piss.

  10. Which week is that ? January 1st - 7th 1986? Sorry but it is not England players that should be criticised, but the FIFA officials and management, who all collected brown envelopes stuffed with notes, to then approve QATAR as the stupidest World Cup venue in football history? Many of the England squad are unhappy and concerned about the World Cup venue, and it is naive in the extreme to blame the players....... IMHO.

  11. Honestly summer internationals (bar long established competitions, WC, Euros etc) should just be binned off, the players just don't get a break anymore, physically and psychologically it takes a massive toll.

  13. Can I just echo this last bit. I voted it as my champagne moment, I truly struggle to remember a better goal of recent times & think that it has been largely forgotten because we got hammered that day. Incredible goal, well worth watching again.

  14. Your completely right about the officials and management but of course the England players can be criticised. They say that every game they will keep taking the knee to stand up for equality and get people talking about it but then come December they will be taking part in a tournament that was built using real modern day slavery in which has killed a five figure number of people . It’s like with David beckham being a ambassador for lots of charities then signing a £150 million deal to be the face of Qatar. The hypocrisy is unreal .

  15. A bit odd to be a regular on here but “can’t be arsed” to actually go to matches! Me? Hull 5-0. Missed a few this season due to Covid & other commitments, but if you don’t go you miss the rare exciting performances.

  17. 40 years for me. We haven’t had a lot to shout about. But Bristol City is and have been a huge part of my life. And some of the people I have met through watching city are friends for life. Up the City

  18. I must be one of those having been taken by my Uncle Tom, a St John Ambulance man, in the 1949/50 season. Cannot remember the match but I know Arnold Rodgers, Dennis Roberts. George Lowery, Alec Eisenstrager, John Atyeo and many of the team were my idols in the following years. Always in the East End, but went in the side enclosures for the Reserve's games. Chasing a loose ball in front of the wooden stand, fell took skin off my knees but must have stayed to the end. The packed crowds for the Rovers games were amazing, bells, whistles and rattles and marching bands at halftime. Can remember Tom Burden arriving and he worked at Clark's Shoe factory. Saw early floodlit match against a Scottish club, maybe East Fife or St Mirren, cant remember. Arthur Milton was a cricketer who played as well and can remember the likes of Jimmy Hill running onto the pitch with his chin stuck out! Lasted until the early 60's when moved to North Cornwall for work where I still live. Next door farm belongs to Johnnie Brown, once of Argyle and Rovers fame and still meet him now and then. Still follow online, but must admit my wife wonders why?

  19. 1967 FA Cup 4th round (I think) 1-0 win against Southampton. Still the best game because nothing else has, or will ever, match the excitement and expectation of the young me coming to the top of the terracing between the enclosure and East End and seeing the green of the pitch and more people in one place than I'd ever seen.

  22. With respect. Rothwell is OOC and on a free Gray is OOC and on a free Spence is a RB and won’t attract that type of fee. A young striker with huge upside is a totally different matter.

  27. How many games do we have to see Jonny Bairstow fail to ever even look like a top five batsman in test match cricket? He plays as a keeper and bats seven, or he doesn’t play. Surely.

  31. Feb 69 my first game, so I'm not the longest serving member on here. In 1976 the EP wrote "For the first time in their life time, fans will be able to watch City in the first division". Several pensioners wrote in stating they had been there for the 1909-10 season.

  33. All depends on how we reinvest the money. Even if we did get £20m it's easy to piss that away. So many times we've seen clubs (including us) say that a big fee helps bring in 2-4 good players to spread across the squad; IMO I've seen that happen as many times as it hasn't. Would much prefer him to stay, but at the end of the day there is a pecking order in football, and no matter our ambitions; we just finished 17th in the 2nd tier.

  34. Do wonder about some people and their understanding of what decides a transfer fee. He has 1 year plus a 1 year option that we have exercised or will exercise. We are therefore in no hurry to sell. The idea that we will accept £8 million in that scenario is laughable. We paid that for our centre half! If he goes for under £20 million I will be really disappointed in the club. If he has a decent season he will fetch £15 million. A good season a lot more. You can't coach a lot of what he has but you can coach him to use what he has more effectively which a side like West Ham will probably do.....

  38. What has soul? The ground or the people in it? How many times was it really like that in the last 20 years of it existence? I still think that the Man Utd game was the best atmosphere I can remember since the 70's. I don't think it would have been bettered by crumbling masonry and the stink of urine from toilet block. If Pearson can get the team playing, the atmosphere will ramp up accordingly.

  41. If Semenyo were to leave, I imagine the fee would be sufficiently big that we wouldn't really be a "club with financial constraints" anymore. It would be tough to find a replacement though - mainly because Semenyo's balance of attributes is fairly rare. I'm really hoping he stays.

  44. Really think he’s not ready for the step up yet. His goal scoring record still isn’t fantastic and his decision making can still be erratic albeit massively improved over the last few years. Think he would benefit with one more season, being the main man starting every week, but if a ludicrous offer comes in we can’t turn it down due to our finances. We can easily barter for 20 million plus add ons sell on fees etc.
