  1. A top man is Wade. Remember him going into a hospital after my mates elderly father had a fall outside Ashton Gate. The day Wade went into see him, was the morning of the promotion parade. He sat with him for about half an hour having a chat. As a player for us for me it was MK at home that epitomised his character. Gave away a goal with a Under hit backpass and then went straight from the restart and scored to put us back in front.

  3. Utter waste of time. Twenty odd years of his stewardship and what have we got? SL grinning like the village idiot as his" legacy" is being polished by pop concerts. festivals etc., to leave him even wealthier when he finally sells up. Oh, football, is that the game with the round ball or the oval ball, just asking? Not that interested to be honest, produces nothing for my future wealth increase I just thank God every night, that I had a spare bedroom. I was at least bright enough to see the possibilities and grabbed onto Peter Hargreaves shirt tail. Who says an accountant (qualified?) is the dullest bloke on the planet and will empty the pub in under five minutes? Peter stays in Somerset and pays his full UK taxes, Sap. It's lovely in Guernsey. Am thinking of having Davefevs and some of his sycophantic disciples over for a day or two

  4. New Cheltenham boss, he still lives in Southville & maybe will take a look at a few that we have? Incidentally both their keepers left them this summer, so if the French lad does arrive it could be a very logical destination for Max.

  6. Such a liability on the ball. Shame really because his desire to play the ball forward is so commendable. Really thought he looked the real deal when he broke through… sadly it didn’t continue.

  9. Now been confirmed by James Piercy the story some of us had already heard, that he’s training with the U23s & also that Ipswich aren’t interested in taking him back. Looks like the best solution (unless someone will take him off our hands for good) is that he joins someone on a season long loan until his contract runs out. The relationship between him & NP has apparently got even worse since his return, he won’t play for us again.

  13. A small moan. The new third kit I think is great, and both my kids have asked for it. With personalisation, it’s the best part of £120 for shirts. That’s a lot of cash, but in prior seasons the blow is softened a bit by the club in effect offering cash back of 10% to STHs to use as a discount against future purchases. The club know who the STH are from their databases, they don’t need to wait for the physical cards to be sent. However, we’re launching the kits, and in the immediate sales period we have no “loyalty scheme” (which I assume will work the same way as prior years) - which means that people who do buy the kit now effectively lose out. Its not a huge thing but it’s a small example of something we could do better.

  18. To be fair, it wasn’t necessarily “deserving” a new deal, it was that we had a one year option and, IIRC, we utilised it to “protect the value”. However, you would have thought that Bakinsons attitude issues were apparent at the time of extension. Clearly, we gambled that he’d do well at Ipswich (his pattern is starting well, getting comfortable and dropping off) and they’d want to buy hence the extension was worth the gamble. The problem in a way is that no matter how well he did, we’ve been very clear we don’t want him back which puts buyers at an advantage. I wouldn’t be shocked if Ipswich hadn’t taken up the option price, but still intend to buy, and Ashton is playing our situation to try and get Ty for less. We’ve screwed ourselves over a bit here.

  20. My thoughts exactly. Whilst we all appreciate the extra income and revenue the developed stadium has brought - is Robins Tv really the format to be gloating and patting himself on the back about it? SL has become almost a marmite figure for City fans recently it seems. You have the staunch supporters of him and then you have the doubters and critics, as much as I appreciate the infrastructure he has built for the club I’ve doubted his stewardship for quite a few years now. I know people will say there is nothing much in the ‘blasé’ comment but for me the body language said more for me than the comment. He looks and has looked pretty done with the football side of things for a while now - i think the whole MA disaster and then the Holden appointment has broken him somewhat and what ever appetite he did have for the football club has gone.

  21. Jesus Christ, read some of the previous posts/threads on this & then work it out for yourself. Baker has suffered 2 serious concussions in short succession, so the medical advice is clearly that it is not safe for him to resume his career at present, more likely at all. He was last injured in November’21, this now covers a period up to May ‘23, so it should be pretty obvious where this is all going. It has also been pointed out several times already that there is a link with this issue & brain injury, so of course this points to retirement but as it appears an insurance payoff is not an option (or we would surely do so) that has to be Nathan’s call whilst he’s still under contract. As for “wanting him fit” I really struggle with you seemingly not being able to understand why that is not ever going to happen.

  23. Is it really too much to expect a question or two about how we came to be in such a perilous ffp position, about the disastrous appointment of Dean Holden, about why we now have to go shopping for players in Oxford not Chelsea? Of course it is. All that's brushed under the carpet and airbrushed away in one word - "covid". What a coward. Maybe it's embarrassment or ego. You don't get to be a billionaire by admitting you got things wrong though, it would seem. He can be proud of the infrastructure he's built and putting big gigs on for the city and region but why he has to come on Robins tv to waffle on about it is beyond me.

  25. And made all the more ridiculous by the fact that we tend to sell out of gear quickly in popular sizes so you have the farce of a loyalty scheme that'll only really reward people only for buying leftovers with credit to buy even more leftovers. Part of me thinks this is by design - not to sound too business like but from a yield perspective you're guaranteed sales at launch, you only need to reward when sales dip, and ideally you only reward with access to products that don't sell.

  26. I’m not sure it has at the moment. The one year extension wouldn’t have likely included a pay rise, and I think there’s still a chance to get a few quid for him. He’s got championship experience, and I think probably still has a reputation as a unrealised talent from his Luton days. Someone’s always willing to take a punt on that kind of player and be the one who gets the best out of them - Palmer, JET (though I think we did - others didn’t), Berahino, Ravell Morrison, etc

  28. Exactly, Nige has decided that Bakinson is not part of his plans and my understanding was that there was some issue that he was not doing what Nige expected in games and in subsequent discussions he disagreed with Nige and was rightly banished. Now there's a pile on and he's being accused of everything under the sun including having a bad influence over the u23 players etc etc without anyone actually knowing the facts - even respected posters saying they 'hate' a young man they've never even met. I think we should dial down the abuse, players come, players go, it's football.

  29. I think what sets him apart from most of them is the amount of first team football he's had. You can see the maturity in his way of playing. Of course they're all very technically great for their age, but decision making gives AS the edge over a few of them. I can't speak for what Phil foden was like for u19s, but Scott is definitely up there in the current squad.

  32. Don’t forget they’ve lost Callum Wright and Mattie Pollock too, who, aside from May, were their best players last season. Keen to see how he recruits. Same with FGR too though, lost crucial players, new manager, what’s he gonna bring in. Fascinating stories ahead for both of these.

  33. I don’t want an owner who is blasé about anything to do with the club. My 35th year of following city and pouring my heard earned in. I’m not blasé about the new season. If SL is it’s time for him to piss off.

  36. Indeed, however his success rate stats (not the be all and end all) were the worst in the Championship! There were times when he tried more impossible balls through the eye of a needle than Palmer. Commendable but not conducive to building decent attacks, especially then when possession is ceded he shows little capability to do his job defensively. Gut feel is he’s not on huge wages. Signed a 3+1 deal in May 2019 aged 20, so I doubt he commanded silly money then. The gamble hasn’t worked, but as you say it wasn’t a “new deal”, just a chance to see if we could eke a fee out of someone, or that he might buckle down and make it here. Someone will take him, either permanently or on loan, and I suspect most if not all of his wages will be covered, so I suspect any loss be tinsy-winsy. Amortisation-wise, virtually all of his fee to Luton has been “sunk”, so very different to someone like Palmer.

  38. I am a bit disappointed to see that we play both Sunderland and Wigan in our early opening fixtures. Whilst they are teams from the division below they often make up for their deficiencies with extra motivation and energy. Also they are used to winning. I much prefer to play them after six to eight weeks when they run out of steam and the bubble has burst. So we will need to be on our game from the off to avoid dropped points. I don’t agree with Bristol Live that it is an easy start.

  39. So instead of showing the welcome “hellos” to players as they turn up, you reckon the media team chap would’ve uttered a “******* hell. Didn’t expect you back here Tyreeq!” and left it on the cutting room floor. maybe next time they do an Instagram with “who do you want to see” question box I’ll spam them demanding Bakinson

  40. Scott is a fantastic player for his age but he's not Phil Foden. I would imagine he's played more minutes at this age group if I had to guess simply because Foden never needed to hang around the England Under 19's. He was too good for that.

  45. What baffles me is how some people criticise the same bloke for a) wasting millions of pounds on players’ wages and transfer fees, resulting in huge losses and b) having a devilish master plan to buy a football club to further enrich himself. I mean, it would have been a lot easier to get into property development somewhere without a loss making football team snd stadium!

Good attempt to explain FFP that probably could have done with some editing to remove the confused interventions of the host, though.
