Next season has the makings of a car crash at this rate.

An injury-prone squad light on numbers, lacking quality, lacking leaders who actually know what success looks like, coached by an inexperienced, negative, charisma-free robot, answering to a teknikal director who's one and only attempt at building a squad, in 2005, was a total failure. Meanwhile, an invisible owner has cut the purse strings and left his manchild, know nothing son in charge of the whole sorry mess.

    What could possibly go wrong?

another problem on top of all that is they probably think they are on to a winner

If that's the case I think he has misread the room. Imo performances and attacking intent / style of play are far more important than a couple of dull 1-0 wins.

he wont get a better chance to experiment than these last 5 games, proper championship competition as opposed to a few knockabout friendlies in the summer break. its a no brainer, unless he thinks hes getting his players he wants during the transfer window

    Liam Manning didn’t come ‘cheap’

fair comment 👍,i have no idea what he cost,

i will rephrase that to valuable as in skills, knowledge etc.

i would expect to pay a lot more for an experienced  mechanic than an 18 year old with 2 years yts training behind him.

is it not fair to assume that the same applies to a degree in football?

  4. no point sacking manning, we would only get another cheap league one manager with a few results on his cv that will say yes to anything to get a crack in the championship. the people above him got the personality they want, relying on tinnion to teach him how to manage it. with his management skills leading the way now, i fear we are in deep shit

    I didn’t know that.

his place in devon is roughly the same as bristol to weston distance wise, its not bigbury but not a million miles from there.

an easy enough commute if he wanted to do it but im not sure he would. he looks so happy and relaxed now,why would he want to do it again. hes got so much more to do with his time, im hoping he goes that way and enjoys himself, absolutely deserves it imo.

one thing i do know,he would always make time to stop and chat with anyone who made a point of saying hello and asking how he was.👍

I believe that he is recuperating in Devon now.

He also fell in love with North Somerset though.

Better Plymouth than the Gas, I suppose.

I will still be gutted though.

hes not been in devon for a while now , think he went home after xmas, 👍

  6. some of the names bookies were touting for the city job were a lot more inspiring than what we got.  this is propbably just a case of the same.

cant see it happening myself but who knows, be good if they stay up for any decent manager if they get the backing they deserve

No need to apologise Dave, I know what you meant.

The point i was trying to make (possibly not well) was after a complete reversal of playing styles from counter attacking to possession based with the exact same players and expecting it to go smoothly isn't realistic in my opinion. The fact that highly paid professionals in the upper management used this as an excuse to bring in Manning is bordering on the ludicrous. To then spout the bollocks of top 6 as a minimum to the fans isn't just stupid, it's taking the piss.

The vast majority of us aren't stupid. We've been through this mill countless times over the years but for the board to expect us to lap up their excuses like the good customers they think we are they can **** right off.

they love it tho dont they, not that long ago,we were going to be in europe by now, we havent even got to dover yet

I don’t think anyone would claim the football under Pearson was nonstop excitement, but to say it was uninspiring is completely wrong.

The togetherness of the players and fans, coming through a difficult couple of years following covid, the feeling we were building something. It was all very much inspiring and the reason there was so much discontent when he was wrongly fired.

    absolutely 100%, couldnt agree more:clap:

I felt that this would be the season to kick on with Nige and co.

*We also lost Nathan Baker during his reign.

you felt it, i felt it and many others felt it too but most importantly, Nige and his team felt it , everyone was in it together which is what has been destroyed👍

I would say most fans are fickle but reading the comments on here after back to back wins, I would say this is pretty special!

Three games ago it wasn’t even just a case of Manning (or Tinnion) out, it was the disconnect from the club completely. Now, back to back wins against a decent Leicester side who had 1 win in 5 league games, and relegation threatened Plymouth, we are suddenly building something special!

I stand by the fact that my passion for this club has it an all time low. No amount of wins under this leadership team, top to bottom, will change that.

ditto that, someone else who realises our problems are not going to go away with no real professional proven leadership anywhere now👍

I remain cautiously optimistic.  These were two games we could easily have lost on paper.

Manning set his team up and had a game plan for Leicester. I saw him coaching his way through the match. He made positive, not reactive subs. This carried over to Plymouth where he was not afraid to change something he didn't like tactical wise and was quick to point out that it wasn't performance issues that led to the changes.

This is what I want to see a lot more of. We have a good chance of making it three wins on the spin so let's go for it, be bold!

are these the first two times he has changed tactics during the games? it reads like it from post match talk and highlight that ive seen. previous games have felt like  'thats the plan and we are sticking with it'

if it is the first two times, what has taken so long for the penny to drop and think something else might work?  its going to  be a tough journey if hes learning on the job and it takes this long to grasp something so glaringly obvious

It was. For him to break his fast for ramadan. Not sure anything has been codified in the rules yet - it's going to need to be. Imagine a team protecting a lead, and sundown happens to be in the third minute of stoppage time...

a bit off if you ask me,if he couldnt last another 8 mins of added time, he could have had a packed lunch in his own goal without stopping the other 21 players

This is what we want. Unfortunately Manning has put himself in a position where he needs to rebuild trust and good will with a lot of us as fans. This weekend is a start. Hopefully the next six games can build on it and leave us feeling positive about next season.

this is where im at too. already said if they made changes id be more than happy for him to be given another chance with new leaders above him but that was never going to happen so im at a bit of a loss as to what to like and not to like. the wins are great, the team performing better is great but the shower of shit upstairs is still in place so i dont think i will be 100% happy for quite a while to come

  14. big thing proved to me today is the players werent just playing up to the cameras. not much incentive for them beating a crap plymouth team.

however, they have helped manning secure his place so sort of suggests they do like him. weve all seen dead rubbers played out in previous seasons, too many in recent years, today didnt seem like one. they wanted to win
