Makes me laugh how we all of a sudden have a "budget" now Nige has gone after not being able to bring anyone in when Scott was sold in the summer

& this is my biggest gripe. Give it to a man that has been there & done it. A man that clearly had a plan. & let him get on with what most of us could see he was doing. So frustrating! COYR

I really liked Wes, but I’m no expert.

This isn’t me having a pop at Burns, he’s obviously developed well & fair play to the lad. I’m just saying, how long ago did he leave? & it’s taken this long to get to where we aspire to be, chasing promotion. Do we wait that long for players to develop? COYR

Burns is a starter for Ipswich who are likely to get promoted out of our league.

I know, but when he left here, he wasn’t good enough to at that point get into our starting 11. & how many years ago did he leave? So do we hang on to players who are not good enough at that point, in the hope that 5-10 years later, they’re good enough? Remember, last season, Burns was a league one player & now is in a Championship promotion chasing team. This isn’t me slating Burns, my point is, how long do we wait for them to be ‘good enough’. Had exactly the same problem last night! COYR

    I did.

I said he’s like a young Shearer (at Southampton), both in terms of looks, physique, but also that bit of niggle about him, whilst being a good finisher.

    I stand by it.

I didn’t say he’s as good as Shearer, I didn’t say he’ll be as good as Shearer, I just said he’s like “a young Shearer”.

I would say that’s a good comparison actually. He does seem to of last a yard of pace since coming back, hopefully that will come back. I also think he’s missed Wells  up top with him. Think the whole team misses Wells when he’s not available actually. COYR

... I've noticed something that's crept into our game and it was really noticeable yesterday against a side who did it well.

Being able to control a ball, with composure, and make angles to receive the ball at the right pace.

We seem in our eagerness to play fast football on the transition to forget the basics.

Passes are hit in hope rather than precision with correct pace.

Often the first touch is like a trampoline and needs a second to control. Or there is no control and it's ' passed ' again into an area, in the hope it will be won again.

There is a complete lack of composure...everything seems rushed.

When we play well...we move into space to create angles and time to compose and pick a pass. We aren't doing that so often now.

It's so rushed. And so many times players are cutting off a pass to themselves by standing in a straight line with an opponent in between. No angle or space.

Ipswich did those basics very well. They weren't outstanding tactically, they simply did the basics well.

The lack of movement has been seeping into our play for a while. Is that tiredness in the legs, in the mind? We aren’t able to change it up too much, so might be a reason. But ultimately, creating angles, passing & moving is basic stuff at any level, let alone Championship. But what I will say is that we stick in there, battle & actually, although they were better, we were in the game. Years gone by, second in the league would be considerably better than us, I don’t get that impression now. Shows how good a job Pearson has done with the tools he’s been given. COYR

If it’s the ones I’m thinking of it’s not restricted really. There is a glass in front of you which acts as a barrier to stop people falling forward.  Like Harry says, you can sit wherever as there will be plenty of seats just might be a bit higher up

Think this is it. We sit behind a glass barrier. Take some window lean & you’ll be fine! COYR

If we buy tickets for games not covered by our season cards, we normally print them to use them.  My question is, will the turnstile scanners read them directly from our phones?

I used my phone to scan my daughters ticket on Saturday. COYR

  9. It’s a game of opinions I suppose. But personally didn’t think he had that good a game, don’t think he was bad, but not quite rewarding of some of the plaudits he has got on here. He works hard & don’t underestimate those tap ins at the far post, many players would still be stood on the edge of the box watching. But for me, he doesn’t go by anyone, lacks strength & his crossing is suspect, gave them ball away at crucial times as well. I actually think when I watch him, that he lacks confidence as well. Hopefully those two goals will give him that. I do think he has the ability to improve though. So just like I don’t jump on the band wagon when someone has a poor game, I won’t be overreacting on yesterday’s performance from him, because he scored two goals. COYR

  10. No matter what happens, I’m fully behind him. I’ve never been one for getting rid of managers (unless it was MCiness or Holden!). I do think this group is underperforming, no doubt about it in my mind. But I think stability is the best way forward & I'm interested in what we do in January. I also think this is more than just today, it’s about putting things in place for next season & the season after etc etc. COYR

I’m astounded you feel Dasilva and Williams are top players in their respective positions.

Just because it’s been speculated that Scott has been linked with Prem clubs doesn’t confirm he has - and if he has that could be more for future than now.

The squad is bottom half at best.

Pearson needs to revisit the system though.

I think DaSilva would hold his own in a top team in this division. With regards Williams, I said he is a top half Championship midfielder, not a top midfielder. I think a number of clubs in the top 12 that would be potentially be interested in him. What do you mean, bottom half at best? That’s quite a wide spectrum. In my original post, I think we’re capable of 10th-12th, so if you’re thinking 13th-15th, we are not that far apart. Or if you mean 18th-20th, we obviously are. Pearson himself mentioned the Play Offs at the start of the season & he doesn’t strike me as a bluffer! COYR

Correct. My mistake. They were sold summer 20 window, pre-Pearson.
Even so, the point still stands. This squad is better than the one Johnson left.

I definitely agree with the point that this group should be doing better. I can’t get my head around people talking about avoiding relegation as some sort of par. We have Bentley on the bench, who I would say is a Championship top 10 keeper, so presumably Pearson thinks O’Leary is better, we have DaSilva on the bench who I again would say is a top ten Championship left back, we have Naismith who is a top 10 Championship defender, Kalas the same if not higher( accept he’s been out a large chunk of this season ), Atkinson who is rated quite highly on here it seems (not 100% convinced myself yet ). In midfield we have James who is Pearson’s go to man & has promotion/prem experience & is highly rated on here ( again, not convinced myself ), Williams would fall into a top half Championship midfielder I would think, Massengo who I rate very highly would do very well at most top end Championship clubs for me, Scott who is wanted by Prem clubs & then the forwards who I think most top half teams would be interested in if not higher with Weimann, Wells, Semenyo & Conway. We then have a few of Pearson’s signings to back that group up Klose, King, Sykes, Tanner & Wilson who I would presume he thought was better than what was here. And then a group of players that were here before to back those two groups up Martin, Vyner, Pring, Bell. So for me, that group is mid table minimum. January will be interesting & I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to pull the trigger Pearson just yet. COYR
