  1. Every club thinks that the local press has it in for them and always has. Roger Malone was the biggest Gashead or biggest City fan that has ever walked dependent on whether you spoke to a red or a blue.
  2. Took Bristol City to a National Cup Semi Final for the first time since 1989.
  3. I agree, pretty much the only way is up for Hibs after a terrible season. Johnno has contacts in the English lower leagues and will be able to get some decent players up on reasonable money. If you were a decent League One player would you rather look forward to 20,000 sell outs at 4 Edinburgh derbies plus the chance to play at Parkhead and Ibrox in front of 50,000+ gates and the chance to win silverware or play at the Memorial Stadium..admittedly that would also be in front of 50,000 (43,000 in the car park).
  4. Didn't he play on loan for the Gas? If so, that explains his moral compass. A short time with the 'family club' and he's out of control.
  5. Interesting that like Darron Gibson, Shane Duffy and James McClean he was a Northern Ireland International from Belfast who then switched allegiance to the Republic. He has been called up to the full Rep of Ireland squad like Max O Leary. He knows Rob Atkinson from Oxford also.
  6. Freiburger sounds like a really unhealthy half time snack!
  7. I think the praise that has come from some City fans is all down to the gap and the actual achievement. It is 22 years since Rovers were above us in the league and they've just finished 3rd in the 4th division. If we'd only been above them for 22 months and then they'd stormed through and won promotion from the Championship the reaction would be very different. In the 80s I hated them with a passion, when they were wining derbies, in the same division as us and trying to be the 'best in the west'. Let's be honest, despite their huge crowds of 9500, their thumping of the mighty Scu nthorpe and their new stadium dreams (this time next year, honest guv) very few if any City fans see them as anything more than an annoying little 'lower league rival'. In my opinion that will never change until they have their own new stadium, can attract fans they've lost on a regular basis and new fans. While they are at the Minimal Stadium they are zero threat to City so we can congratulate them with a smug, condescending look on our faces.
  8. Rovers have that big advantage over other British outfits though of being every other club's fans' second favourite team.
  9. They won't play it in Turkey, it will be roasting.
  10. That cannot be true because Rovers are PNE's fans second favourite team. ?
  11. to be fair we are now 5 games unbeaten, tough at anytime in a division like the Championship
  12. You'll have no chance of getting a ticket, Northampton will have to give Rovers three stands minimum to cater for their massive travelling support.
  13. Credit to Birmingham, I know they are right in the middle of the country, but considering how poor their team is that is decent away support.
  14. If not you could always take a shower ?
  15. Well done Abi and Fran, roll on a title season next year.
  16. Could somebody please inform Joey Barton that Bristol Rovers haven't had a 27000 home Gate since the 1950s! Despite being on for automatic promotion their average gate is 2000 below their very small capacity of 9000. Massive club ???
  17. The winner, when this topic has been discussed in a whole football sense, consistently Mick Harford and Duncan Ferguson's names have been mentioned. Wimbledon players like Vinnie Jones and John Fashanu both reckon Harford was the man nobody would mess with. The stories about Ferguson are legendary and started when he was a teenager for Dundee United. He was started on by 2 Dundee fans when he was only 17 and he knocked them both out. The stories continue in a similar vein to the present day.
  18. To be fair, if you spend any time in West London you will find a lot of Fulham, QPR and Brentford fans saying they wish they were a really big club like Bristol Rovers. I'm sure many of them would like to swap their ground, trophies, players, support etc with the mighty Gas.
  19. I was going to post the same, what a great idea having pics of former players and great teams from their past on the walls around the stadium. I would love it if City did something similar. Well done NTTDS for posting the pics, it is great to have an alternative view of the matchday experience, keep em coming.
  20. It was thrown at half time when nobody was on the playing surface. Celtic deserved the victory, Rangers huffed and puffed but couldn't break them down. Celtic can only throw the title away now and they won't do that. Huge season, as by winning the title Celtic will go straight into the Champions League group stages and gain a massive financial advantage over Rangers.
  21. Jim McIntyre has managed a number of clubs in Scotland and England. Only played a handful of games for us.
  22. I was at Crewe that night, my 15th Birthday....where did the years go? ? Cracking night though, Crewe had a more than decent team and battered us, then Bailey delivered his wonderful strike.
  23. Can I add some 'away kit' bingo entries 1. We should always wear white with black shorts, that is the traditional away City strip 2. We should always wear purple and lime, that is the newish traditional City away strip. 3. Various comments about how awful the Champagne kit was 4. Various comments supporting City wearing blue as an away kit on the basis it will rile the Gas, claim the colour for ourselves, reference to our FA Cup final shirt etc. 5. Various comments opposing City wearing blue as an away kit on the basis it will amuse the Gas, it is not our colour and we lost the Cup final!
