  1. The young lad that’s been in goal at Bridgy been decent as well. Think he’s had some big teams looking at him so it’s tough on him to be replaced. Just seen @Portland Bill post though, didn’t know he got sent off last night! Clevedon Town fell away a bit in Toolstation Prem, hopefully manage to put a few wins back together & challenge Bridgy/Helston ‘til the end though.
  2. What sort of songs/chants would you like to hear? I know a lot of the boys in S82, they get far too much stick for trying to improve the atmosphere I think. Some of the displays they’ve done have been excellent. (Ignore the attempts at surfing a flag across the South Stand though, our fans really can’t grasp how to do that for some reason) Perhaps the megaphone is a bit too much, but remember the bloke in the EE 15 years ago that used to sing threshing machine pissed right up through one, people didn’t seem to mind that. I think they’d be open to giving a game ago using the standard old ones & see how it goes, but I do believe it’s been tried before & still had the same issues regarding more people joining in.

    Tins on RB

Your comments & a couple of others regarding the loss of experience in the upcoming summer, reminded me of this tweet regarding senior players from NP when he left. I guess that would’ve been a major disagreement between NP/BT regarding who was getting new contracts. When City lost Basso, Orr & Trundle all in the same summer around 2010 I always felt like we lost 3 players that were great for the squad morale etc. I’m not suggesting we keep players around purely for those purposes but it could be counter productive to let so many go all at once. Weimann & Williams are big characters & will be missed much like the three mentioned above. I’d definitely be looking to keep Williams, but I can’t make my mind up on Weimann. None of us know how good of a coach King is, so can’t judge him on that but what we have all seen is how much Scott/Conway get on with him so he must’ve been good for them.
  4. They media team are obsessed with filming it all game every game & after we lose they post content to do with it for easy engagements.
  5. I did mean to add, in the subcontinent. But he’s made me look silly today, excellent innings.

    Klopp

His (and Peps) constant moaning over the Christmas period fixtures & FA cup replays winds me up. They knew what they were signing up for before managing here, fed up with what seems to be the constant battles there are each year with them two over the English game. Wont miss all his moaning one bit.
  7. Pope wants dropping for the next test. Can’t play spin.
  8. Was just about to post about how 54/0 was a great start then Ashwin takes Duckett. Cursed it!
  9. Played up front for most of his football league appearances. Was always a ST/CB which I always found interesting because can’t be too many of them about!
  10. Wonder if they’ll delay kick off if problems persist?
  11. Went to watch Roman Glass v Worcester City on Wednesday night. Fixture was very well supported by the Worcester City fans, big fanbase for the level. Think they average about 400-500 at home. Must’ve had about 80-100 or so there. Roman Glass going well still though, in 4th currently, so will be hoping they get in the play offs. Be going to Clevedon Town v St Blazey tomorrow if it stays on.
  12. I think Luke Ayling is quite a bit ahead of Bradley Orr if we’re talking technical ability. This isn’t me saying Orr was bad technically either, he was one of my favourite players ever & a real 100%er, gutted when he left us. I am really surprised you see Ayling that way. I thought he was very good on the ball & wouldn’t have lasted as long in PL if he wasn’t.
  13. Went to Bridgwater v Clevedon Town yesterday. Was a very scrappy game, Bridgwater chairman not too happy on his Instagram after Also, not sure if I’ve missed it on this thread, but hearing that Taunton Town are in a world of trouble & struggling to even fill a side at the moment.
  14. Was it Andy Rolls who was head of the medical team at the time? Believe he left with Ashton but it could’ve been before. Must’ve also been the time we had our ‘loan physio’ as well when Pearson first arrived.
  15. I was coaching at Bristol City at that time, where it was very much a culture of what the gaffer says goes. A culture of being dictated to. But along with my experience of working at Walsall with Dean Smith – who had a different approach – I decided I wanted to encourage others to show leadership. Not because it looks good, but because I genuinely believe in it. After I took over as Bristol City manager, we won 11 of the first 17 games in the 2020/21 Championship season. Unfortunately, we ended up having 17 players with injury problems. I’ve never seen it before, and don’t think I will again. Earlier that year, the players had stopped overnight because of the pandemic. We came back, had a couple of weeks to prepare for the rest of the season, then there was a three-week break before the next pre-season. Later, we had all these tendon issues. Injuries where hamstrings were being ripped off the bone in a really innocuous sprint. I said: “Let’s look into this, because we don't want it to continue.” But there was a lot of off-the-field politics going on at the time. You want people in the building who say: “I didn’t spot that, nice one.” No agenda, no ‘stay in your lane’. That’s how I am. It was my job to raise concerns to the people above me. But it was at a time when we had lost five games on the spin, so my position was weak. I don’t regret doing it, because senior players were coming to me and raising their concerns. Now, I would handle it differently in terms of how I approach going to the owner of the football club. Although the owners deserve to know what is going on inside the club, it is about picking battles at the right time. (Apologies if this has already been posted, I did have a quick look and couldn’t see anything regarding it)
  16. I think this season would have proved to them how far ahead of them we are in terms of player quality. Hunt wasn’t good enough for us 2 and a half years ago & Martin wasn’t good enough for us a year ago. Both are probably their best players this season. Their recruitment strategy in the summer should be to look at any player City have released in the last 18 months and pray they’ll agree to join.
  17. It’s the first time I’m going to be seriously considering it. I still expect I will but I’m the closest I’ve ever been to not bothering. I’ve lost a bit of interest since lockdown tbh. I started watching my local team & I’ve found the non league stuff a refreshing change. Had a season ticket 25 years & this season I’ve already missed 4 home games through choice. Probably missed 4 odd through all of last season, and prior to that I would rarely miss a game. Used to get to 8-10 away days a season, now I find myself doing 1 or 2. Probably do need an exciting season to get me fully on board again. I was gutted at the start of the season when we sold Scott, and didn’t reinvest. It killed off any hope I held for this season which was little anyway.
  18. I doubt it, but then there will just be a general buzz around the place at being a PL side. A Sunday game against Spurs is a lot different to a Sunday game against Norwich! If after 5 seasons of Crystal Palace like results, I expect I would happily miss Sunday games again.
  19. Not interested in going on a Sunday, especially when it’s an early kick off. 6 of us didn’t bother. Along with the weather & being near to Christmas, it doesn’t surprise me that attendance was low.
  20. Clevedon Town carried on their unbeaten start to the season, they currently have 10 wins and 3 draws from their 13 games this season. Sit 3rd in the league with 2 games in hand on the top 2. Bridgwater sit 2nd at the mo after their Friday night win at Nailsea & Tickenham. Thought they’d lose a few more of their players but they’ve only lost two so far & have managed to keep a hold of the top goalscorer in the league Jack Thorne. Dave Pearse their former manager has joined the coaching team at Exmouth Town in the division above. Probably a bit far too attract any of his former players unless the money is right! Portishead Town still top of Toolstation Div 1 & Ethan Feltham can’t stop scoring (30 goals from 19 games) They’ve also just signed a lad called Joe Berry from Nailsea & Tickenham who imo was their best player. Be a big loss for them!
  21. Llewy been given the managers job mate!
  22. Yeah I’ve heard the players aren’t too happy about it & a few 7 days will be/have already gone in from some other local clubs for a few of them.
  23. Bridgwater United have sacked their manager after losing their 3rd game of the season (P14 - W10, D1, L3) Currently sit in 2nd, 1 point off the top & still in 2 or 3 cups including early stages of FA vase. Mad!
  24. @GrahamC posted recently that something happened in Austria pre season which is why we’ve not seen OTC or Francois.
