Feels like a desperate attempt to appease those who wanted the super leagues

When did a Cup competition become so complicated

Everybody will moan about this until it actually starts and within a few weeks it will be thought of as a good idea

Reading LM post-match comments, think we will see Sykes and Twine from the start next Saturday.

Won't be a hard decision to drop more than a few next weekend, need to see a reaction at Hillsborough as today was beyond awful

  3.                      O'Leary

          Tanner     Vyner    Dickie

    McCrorie   James   TGH   Pring

                 Knight      Twine

                        Conway

When everyone is fit we do actually have some real depth now with Atkinson, Roberts, Naismith, Williams, Bird (next season), Sykes, Mehmeti, Bell, Wells, Cornick and Mebude all morecthan capable of stepping in with no huge drop off in quality plus the youngsters close to the first team I.e. Benarous, Murphy, Stokes etc we are in a strong position moving forward

    18k a week too apparently.

In fairness at the point he signed he deserved to be a top earner so if that's the going rate then fair play to him. Agree with others that since NP left he hasn't been at it and needs to switch back on

  5. Wasn't at all impressed when NP was moved on but I thought last night we played some excellent football, kept it well and moved them around to create openings and were generally pretty dominant against a side that will be there or thereabouts in terms of top 6 at the end of the season. Most importantly I actually enjoyed the game which even though I was a Pearson fan I could rarely say was the case whilst he was here, Mannings coaching ability is clearly starting to have an impact and the players are taking it on board.

Mehmeti's dribbling skills when running at the full back and natural ability to know where the ball is without looking at it was excellent, only Alex Scott did this better in recent memory. If he carries on in this manner he could be a huge player in the 2nd half of the season.

Was also nice to see Vyner back to his best last night after a shaky few weeks.

4 points in the next two games and we are bang in contention for the play offs

Well said. Some of the conclusions being drawn at the moment are quite unbelievable.

I reckon Liam has had no more than 5 or 6 days on the training ground with the full squad, given players being away on international duty.

Same injuries, same deficient squad, but apparently we're expecting different performances and results...very funny.

In fairness and as an overall statement rather than just for tonights game if we werent expecting different performances then we shouldn't have made the change.

I thought we looked decent tonight and matched a more than decent team for most of the game, they scored a worldie and we missed the better chances we made, it feels like we have a bit of a glass ceiling where we're never going to be able to beat the bigger / parachute clubs regardless of who's in charge or how well coached we are because we just don't have the same quality to be able to lay a glove on these teams.

  7. He's got a decent record wherever he's been so happy to give the guy a chance but to say we've not worked on our attacking gameplan when we are playing a team in the bottom 3 is mind-boggling for me. Considering we have the 2nd best defensive record in the league surely that's a pretty solid base to start with and we should've focused on how we intend to score goals this week?

The room almost swallowed him up. Press conferences mean nothing, as can all talk a good game, get those players delivering on the pitch. Intrigued to see what happens. You only have to see the way the assistant behaved on Twitter with Barton to show the difference. Not convinced by him.

That wasn't his assistant in fairness just someone with the same name that Barton decided to have a digital row with.

Not withstanding that though the fact that the players were clearly fully bought into NP's methods could make it difficult although you would hope that the principles and culture he set would mean they at least give it their all out of professional pride

its certainly a change in voice. Hopefully they can liven themselves up a bit.

Thought he spoke really well at the press conference but in front of the players it was a bit awkward. Hopefully it would be different without the camera's is all I'll say! And the videos above of Flemming show why he was such a respected character for fans and players...a real loss for the club

Probably close to 8-9m in 6-7 windows coming out of covid which not prolific but probably the envy of a fair few teams in the division. A number of high profile free transfers on decent wages like Naismith and James.

Let’s not plead poverty here. Up until the Scott sale we backed NP as much as we could in the transfer market. Yes we sold good players because of things out of NP control but we haven’t been as clever in the market as we could have been and that’s what is holding us back more than anything.

32% win rate but gets credit for slashing wage bill which had to be done. Promoted youth which had to be done with the amount of turnover. With the best ones already on the first team fringes. You’d have to question him if he didn’t play Scott really.

I get why people angry he was sacked because of the situation. He didn’t really deserve it at this time. Also, like most of you, i don’t have much faith in getting someone even at the same level as NP. Just don’t think he is the messiah many on here seem to think he was for us. I’m excited for the change because there is now a chance i won’t be bored watching us play for throw ins in their third and being the slowest counter attacking team on the planet.

Pretty balanced post this and struggle to disagree with any of it but it just felt like it was on the verge of all coming together either with a bit more backing after Scott was sold or a year later than planned.

  11. Not enamoured with Eustace or Rowett to be honest, always liked Nathan Jones at Luton but ruined his reputation a bit at Stoke then shot it to pieces at Saints so would have reservations now.

Of the names in the betting list Scott Parker stands out and has won two promotions but with far greater tools than Lansdown is likely to provide, Warnock could be worth a wild ride until the end of the season but would seem odd to move one experienced manager on to appoint another up to the same point as the first was contracted to anyway.....what then?

Dean Smith or Chris Wilder have proven records with more success than failures so would be solid options, outside of that I would be thinking left field I.e. abroad or possibly try and find the next Kieran McKenna but given we have nobody with any real contacts at senior level who would do the finding??

In short I have no idea and very little faith we'll improve on what we had anyway.

Absolutely dreadful decision. Who knows exactly the reasons why but it can't be due to his health as why would Euell and Rennie both out as well.

Maybe he was still smarting from not been given a bigger slice of the Scott money and Nige being Nige didn't mince his words in voicing his disappointment which I suspect didn't go down too well with the owner.

Because they are Pearsons men and therefore have a spine

Posted the above video today to mark men’s mental health day, and it is very moving. Thought it was worth a share for anyone who hait.

Possibly the most powerful video I've seen on this subject, thankfully I've never lost anyone because of this but brought a tear to my eye at the end.

  14. We've  never produced a striker like this from the academy before, his finishing is as good as anything in this league and he's only 21?!

Fitness dependant he has to start at Leeds on Saturday where we are unlikely to get many chances so need to give ourselves the best chance of taking them.
