  1. I’m surprised this thread is quiet. I would’ve expected @TomF to have had a Hundred opening party this evening.
  2. A petition has been started and reached over 120,000 signatures to get the game replayed. The state of the England fans who have signed this: https://www.change.org/p/euros-2020-managers-rematch-demand-for-italy-v-england?use_react=false The first five reasons for signing are an embarrassment:
  3. It is amazing how many people critiquing Southgate's approach against Italy forget that the opponents are also trying to win the game. For too many years England managers have succumb to media pressure to play big name players. Southgate hasn't bowed down to fans demands and has always picked his own team which, in the overwhelming majority of cases. has provided results.
  4. Without sounding insensitive, this is a different Gould family to that of our CEO isn't it? Of course it does not make it any less tragic and my thoughts are with Lewis' family.
  5. I've posted this on another thread but these are our achievements coming away from the Euros: - Since 1966, England had only won six knockout games when he took over. He's now increased that to 11 meaning that 45% of England's knockout wins have been under him. - Before this tournament, we had only ever won one knockout match at a European Championships. We won three in this tournament. - England had never won an opening Euros match. We beat Croatia (the finalists of the last World Cup) in the opening fixture. - We beat Germany in a knockout match for the first time since 1966. - Pickford broke Gordon Banks' record for the longest a keeper has gone without conceding in an England shirt. - We didn't concede until the semi finals. - We got to our first major final since 1966 and were a few penalty kicks away from winning it. Only one of the 55 UEFA affiliated nations can win the Euros and coming second is a big stride forward. Success isn't binary and to sack or question a manager after our greatest tournament in 55 years would be foolish. We could quite quickly go back to the days of Sven, Cappello or Hodgson in an instance.
  6. @City oz you mention that you remember when you took them at school, you'd score 9 times out of 10. Can you remember what your record was like taking them in a Cup final, with hundreds of millions of people watching, against a world class goalkeeper? Based on your theory, nobody should miss a penalty but if they had to, we would cycle through the players until the lowest earner misses?
  7. But that's completely irrelevant now isn't it because he was manager of Middlesbrough over a decade ago? You're completely ignoring the fact that people can improve. Here are some facts for you: - Since 1966, England had only won six knockout games when he took over. He's now increased that to 11 meaning that 45% of England's knockout wins have been under him. - Before this tournament, we had only ever won one knockout tournament at a European Championships. These are all of the facts that have come off the top of my head and there's more. Southgate has achieved more than all of the previous England managers since Alf Ramsey stepped down in 1974 yet you're criticising him because of his poor record at Middlesbrough?
  8. Reread this several time and this post seems to be lacking any facts? Just a lot of odd opinions.
  9. Oddly I don't feel that nervous about the game. I was bricking it for the Denmark game because I wanted us to finally reach a final and I had similar nerves for the Germany game. Maybe the anxiety will hit me hard tomorrow but I do feel very proud of England regardless of the result tomorrow.
  10. I think by the time you get through, the final will be over! I got through about 10 minutes ago and there's no matches showing so it's probably worth giving up.
  11. I'll sell you my telly for £2,500? It has access to cat 1, 2 and 3 views depending on the camera angle at the time.
  12. I'm the same as you then. For the Denmark game this eventually progressed to the number of minutes remaining. It's the hope that kills you!
  13. Do you have a countdown or just a progress bar without any indication of the minutes left?
  14. Nope, my loading bar is a little way away from getting into the portal. I had the same thing as you and had to enter the captcha code again.
  15. I saw this on Twitter and thought it was very true:
  16. I really hope we've recovered well and still have some left in the tank. Going into the Denmark game, it was clear that we had a lot of energy but a day less to recover than Italy could be key. I genuinely think we're a better side but we're England and City fans, I can't shake off the feeling that it has to go wrong somewhere!
  17. It is wholesome of the other home nations to want just and fair decisions in all football matches. It's a shame that social media didn't exist during the 1986 World Cup, Beckham's red card in 1998, Campbell's goal against Portugal in 2004, Lampard's 'goal' versus Germany in 2010. It's nice to know they would've been calling our opponents cheats after those games too.
  18. Disgusted at this club, it's a family twitter account. We know Darrell Clarke and those north of the river will get aroused by that video.
  19. Congrats mate. You must be buzzing. Hoping for general sale but I know it will be almost impossible!
  20. Just watched the highlights back on BBC. It’s a lot more enjoyable the second time and I’m not sure I fully appreciated how many excellent chances we created. We also limited them to long shots from distance and we finally conceded to a fantastic free kick from distance. One of my biggest fears today was how we would react if we went behind. We were fantastic, with Sterling missing a good chance and England equalising within 9 minutes of conceding. We were a little less fluid than previous games but we’ve shown so much grit. Whatever the result on Sunday, we can be very proud of this squad.
  21. I’m always interested by the views of neutrals when watching England. I don’t disagree, I don’t think it was our best game but we really grew into it and they were on the ropes until the penalty. I’m fairly confident we would’ve scored anyway even if that penalty didn’t go in. I’m not sure about the time wasting point, our game management was absolutely perfect without shithousing our way to victory. We didn’t feign injury or make pointless changes, we just kept the ball. I think at one point we had it for three minutes without a Danish player touching it, that’s fantastic. Finals usually are boring; I was at the final of the last Euros when Portugal won but it’s far from the greatest game I’ve seen. I strongly believe that we deserve to be in the final. We’ve been pretty convincing in almost of the games and have only been behind for 9 minutes across six games.
  22. There's a few tickets showing on the shitty portal again but it won't let me put them in my basket.
  23. With all due respect, it comes across as odd way to live your life, particularly as you're a football fan. After the last year or so, isn't it enjoyable to have a bit of excitement? Political views are so polarised at the moment and the country is a mess but that largely gets forgotten in moments like this when the country is brought together. Just enjoy it, it could over today but it will be over at the weekend and the stories of doom and gloom will return to the news.
  24. You do realise we're just debating on a fans forum. To my knowledge, none of the posters on the forum are playing in the game tomorrow. What's the point in watching football if you can't dream?
  25. I'd give up. They've now removed the England game from the list of matches on the ticket portal anyway. If I buy a ticket for tonight's game, would I be able to hide out in a vent for 24 hours?
