Despite points deductions etc we are still comfortable and probably already safe. 35 points is probably enough to be safe this season. Our form is poor but in 2022 only a point worse than Derby and 5 points better than Reading, 10 points better than Peterborough and 3 points better than Barnsley (despite their more recent form). It would be nice to catch West Brom, but we will probably finish 19th. FORM 2022

Yes it is an excellent point. But the point that I was making, in my original post, was that for all the arm waving about it, the truth is it makes no difference at all to our position this season which is that we are neither up nor down. To parody Boris Johnson's Kermit the Frog analogy, half way up the table is a place where we sit, there isn't really any place quite like it. We're not at the bottom. We're not at the top.
